Aim to lift 3-5 times a week. Progressively overloa your muscles by adding weight. Focus on compound lifts such as squats, dead lifts, bench press, etc. and if you're going to continue running that much you're going to have to eat ALOT. I mean ALOT.

Yea, you need to try to get as much protein on your Rest days as well. When you lift weights you are breaking down our muscles. They rebuild over the few days after a workout so protein is just as important on rest days. Lift heavy weights and try increasing your calories by 100 and don't focus so much on the number on the…

If you do let them lift weights make sure they do proper form and try not to let them focus on how much weight they are doing. Proper form is the most important thing, especially at a younger age. Now that I've said that, body weight exercises are perfect for young teens. Push ups, pull ups, body weight squats, lunges, etc.

Hey. Doing cardio doesn't burn muscle. People say that cardio burns muscle because they do not enough calories while doing insane amounts of cardio.

Mfp automatically puts people on a caloric deficit depending on if they want to lose .5 a lb, 1 lb, 2 lb if they cut themselves into a further deficit by not eating back some exercise calories they may lose too much weight too fast for their liking. Not totally on topic but I personally wouldn't consider peanut butter a good protein source. My peanut butter only has 7 grams of protein and 16 grams of fat. I consider it a fat source :).
