We freeze the cranberries and make cranberry relish in the summer. It's really refreshing. 1/2 bag cranberries, frozen (they chop better in the food processor when they're hard) 1/2 navel orange, quartered w/ peel 1 stalk celery 1 small can crushed pineapple, drained w/ juice reserved 1/2 cup sugar 1 small package cherry…

Completely depends on the person. I knew a girl in high school who was my height (5'8") and naturally very thin, she always had been since we met in elementary school. She looked perfectly healthy despite probably weighing no more than 120lbs. If I were her weight, I would look sickly because of my broader bone structure.…

You're 19, so I'm guessing you're in college? I'm also 5'8". A lot of college guys still have the high school mentality that men must be significantly taller than women, no exceptions. That notion flies out the window when you graduate and everyone starts to grow up a bit.

Depends entirely upon which foods. It often works wonderfully. There are LOTS of cheesey fish dishes that are delicious, ever tried deep fried mussels with mozzarella? It's fantastic. ETA: Someone's going to point out that mussels aren't actually fish. I amend my statement to include parmesan-crusted white fish of most…

Oh good grief, everyone's always so literal on this site. People in Italy don't mix zucchini strips into their pasta. Duh. The point I made was that a lot of Italian recipes use zucchini in them and therefore the flavors often mix well. The first time I went to Italy we made zucchini stuffed with bolognese. It was…

No. I have been asked a couple of times and have always declined because for a while I was studying to be a teacher. No matter how tasteful or beautiful the photo is, someone will always think it's inappropriate and, depending on that person or your career, it could get you fired. Despite no longer planning on teaching, I…

Using half regular spaghetti and half shredded zucchini lets you bulk up your portion without adding many calories or greatly changing the texture, and it tastes great in most applications since it's used so widely in Italian recipes anyway.

Your weight loss may be masked by your body retaining water as a result of starting a new exercise routine. My scale bounced up 3lbs when I started jogging.

Wow he looks like Tim Curry in that gif.

When people say "don't eat after #pm" they don't think food magically turns to fat after that hour. They think your metabolism slows while you sleep and the food eaten after the proprietary time will be digested during said sleep, therefore burning less efficiently. It's still incorrect, but it's not voodoo.

Buy one Nutella & Go! pack from the checkout aisle instead. You get your Nutella in a smaller container so even if you eat the whole thing, it's still not as much.

I was just short of pounding my head on the table. Granted, her goals were different from mine: she doesn't need to lose any weight and just "felt foggy," but hey. The placebo effect is working for her so more power to her, I guess.

I went to a Christmas dinner with some coworkers last night and one of them said she went to a chiropractor/nutritionist a couple of months ago. He held vials of various food substances (wheat, sugar, caffeine, etc) over her head while she was lying down and had her push against his arm to see any strength changes. He…

Your mother is eating much more than she thinks. She may not necessarily be deliberately lying to you, as is the implication so many people are making. I know I can easily eat two or three cookies-worth of dough when I'm baking, is she logging that? Little things add up. Her daily caloric needs may also be lower than…

Not really, since you seem to be deflecting just about everything everyone is suggesting. You were doing really well a couple of pages back, then you slid right back to "woe is me" on this one. You were seeing a therapist. Then you stopped. Go back.

You sound like a middle school girl. "Time to quit complainin' and up the trainin'"

Nerf guns or sports balls. 12-16 is an odd range because at 12 they're still playing with action figures but by 16 they're not.

I love both of those things.

Yeeeaaah, that's not how math works. Even if somehow she was able to measure that he was the absolute tallest and heaviest kid in his age group, he would be the 100th percentile. This kind of measurement cannot go above 100%.

No cologne, but scented soaps or body washes are nice. I like most of Old Spice's scents. No one teaches men how much cologne to use and they always end up using way too much. With soap or body wash, most of it rinses off so it can't get too strong.

If I don't eat before, I pass out. But that's just me and my wonky blood sugar. For most people it doesn't matter.

Children first. Then every person for themselves. It's not difficult.

Yeah, 2T of olive oil for a single serving of something is an awful lot. If you're making a meal for a family of 4, 2T ends up being a much more manageable number of calories per serving. I agree with using non-stick spray like Pam. Even though it adds calories by virtue of being oil, you almost always end up being less of…

See, that's a good attitude to have. You should have said that in the first place. The person who does the asking out should be the one who pays.

Yeah, I would say that's a problem. Can't she do something nice for you? Why does it make you feel so uncomfortable? Do you feel emasculated? Do you assume you're more successful than her? I buy stuff for my boyfriends all the time. It's a nice gesture as long as you don't require it.

THIS. Don't try to be "chivalrous." Try being a decent human being to other human beings, regardless of who they are.
