Oh boy, wine is a problem. Sooo tasty! And all my problems just drift away... except for that calorie count!

Awesome response, thanks everyone!

So far so good. I'm into week 2 of the c25K training and legs and feet feel good. I did a little bit of barefoot training for a couple of weeks, walking, light jogs.
-
I use mine all the time. Well, 3x per week all the time. Am doing c25k training on it.

@ Gail, I'm the worst runner in the world. Can play soccer, ride a bike, walk for hours, but run? I suck! So take heart you're not the only one who finds it an immense challenge. You'll notice the c25k sites suggest that if you can't keep up with the pace they suggest, repeat weeks, etc. It's not about getting there on…

Hi I'm Garrett I just finished day two of week one. I don't have a race goal in mind. Have begun running for fitness. I walk and ride my bike for exercise, but with colder weather and darker mornings coming on I was looking for an alternative to the morning bike ride. So I'm doing c25k on a treadmill. My twist is I'm doing…

Sorry to hear it hasn't been the greatest experience. My personal suggestion, based on experience, is find a group of friends who are approximately your age, weight, etc. and rely on THEM for support. I have about 25 and we pep each other up and give each other feedback. These forum threads are good for specific topic…

Do "easy" stuff like ride a stationary bike, bike, walk (maybe not the best thing for those tired feet!). It will keep you moving a bit and you can work up to things which are more strenuous as the months go by.

Is coffee a bad thing for this?

I have never used a personal trainer, but if it motivates you to lose weight and stay fit, I'd say go for it.

Daily, simply because I don't have the patience to weigh weekly, and I don't want to hit the weekly weigh-in on a day I've spiked up. I swing up and down 4 lbs pretty easily. As long as the long-term trends are downward we're good.

I discovered biking this year as an alternative to running. Much easier on my knees, feet, etc.

LOL re motorcycles! I'm on a hybrid now, and it gets the job done, but I'm finding I'm using it less for the "mountain" and more for the road, and don't have any experience with the touring models. Thanks for the feedback.

Yup. Every last raisin.

I weigh in daily because I'm relatively new to this (2 months this time around) and I want to get a feel for how my body works and fluctuates. Also I'd get bored waiting a whole week to weigh in! I don't measure. Probably should.

Totally agree on finding a running store who will actually evaluate your feet/gait. It's always a much better experience. And I wasn't suggesting anyone try barefoot, it's just something I'm dabbling in these days.

Barefoot!

I try to stick to things I actually enjoy doing, like riding my bike. When I can't do that I keep the iTunes handy...

Awesome! Thanks for all the feedback, gang. Looks like I'll keep on keepin' on with the cup o'joe! Garrett

46 myself and the weight just slowly crept on over the past ten years. I've managed to drop about 10 lbs pretty quickly using MFP, time will tell if I can keep at it and shed 20 or 30 more. Find some friends, post on the forums, see what's working for others. MFP is a great resource. Welcome.

Good luck. I'm going to try c25k barefoot soon. Just getting a little adjusted to the barefoot part right now.
-
I say anything which sounds fun and interesting and healthy is worth a try for a while. I'll probably do it at some point.
-
I use SportyPal on my phone to measure my bike rides, and it comes up with pretty similar results to Myfitnesspal. It takes time and speed and my weight into account.
-
I ride my bike and walk. Some light running, crunches, pushups, etc. Bike and walk are the main things.
-
Cycling. I've gotten so I can't wait to get up in the morning and go for a ride. It's fast, I'm outdoors, it's not brutally hard, I don't get bored (short attention span), it's been great for me.

And that dynamite smile! Keep up all your awesome posts and motivation, please!
