Slow and steady. Don't "diet," just watch your calories daily and try to get a little exercise. Set some manageable weight loss goals here. I aim for a lb. a week, but realistically it comes out to more like a lb a month. Work on making good food choices, don't eat junk or fast food. And be honest with yourself. If you set…

Thanks for adding me as a friend. I have hit a plateau now and again where I feel like I was not losing weight. I'm not able to see what you're eating or how many calories you're burning, so not sure how to offer help with your issue. My own experience is every now and then I actually go over a little, or take an extra…

Don't be shy about poking around these message boards and asking others to be your friend. I find it's handy to have a bunch of friends who are similar to me in age, challenges, etc. Good luck with everything!

Welcome. I find it handy to seek out and ask for friends who (for me) are in my age range, similar interests and goals, etc. Take an active role in reaching out to folks and I think you'll find a very receptive community. Good luck!

Don't be shy about asking people to be friends. Find some similar to you, age, etc. and stick to the basic concepts of measuring calories that MFP is good for. It won't be overnight, but if you aim for a lb a month or a week or something like that I think you'll find it pretty tolerable. Good luck!

Hello, Garrett here. I'm 49 but if you like feel free to friend up. I like having friends in my age range (similar experiences, etc.). Good luck!

Yeah, he seems hilarious.

Yes, he's a Western New Yorker like me.

I live in a house that used to be owned by the guy who flew the jet packs in the James Bond movies.

Also? The 700 calorie a day seems low, your body might have tried making up lost ground once you stopped doing that. Good luck!

Weight loss is a slow and steady lifestyle thing. Try eating whatever would have you lose 1 lb a week, or whatever goal you want to set, and stay at it for a while.

The forums are fun. Read what people have to say, learn about other peoples' experiences, find friends who are like you, etc. Use them to learn. They're one of my favorite parts of MFP.
-
Friend up with people who are like you. Age range, goals, personality, etc. Definitely help to have some peers.
-
Hi Sue, I'm 49 but if you'll have me I'm a good supportive MFP friend.
-
Makes perfect sense. Get some friends, help keep them motivated, stay motivated, etc. You can do it. Ask for people who are in your age range, same goals, etc. and friend up with them. Good luck!

Howdy. I'm 49 and have about 40 lbs to lose myself. Logging calories is a good way to do this, I've done MFP before with success. And if you go over by a few calories don't worry, the count is designed to have you lose weight. So if most days you're under and the days you're not you're just a little over, you'll be fine.…

Yup, data don't lie. But I think it's OK to have that piece of pie once in a while. Just as long as you're on the right track generally. Friend me up if you like, I like having friends in my age range, similar experiences, etc.

Don't be shy about asking some folks to be friends. Welcome.

Google should help. Friend me up if you like.

Instead of going with the craving, try something else. Keep some fruit around the house. I know it's not the same thing, but have a piece of fruit, drink a glass of water, and see if the craving is there ten minutes later. Once you're able to break the craving cycle I think you might find it's like it was never there.

I didn't read the thread, but that daily scale thing is a problem for me. We go up and down a few pounds naturally I think (water, etc) so really the only way to make sense of the scale is over time. I only record once per week, usually Sunday. That way I can LOOK all I want, but I don't get wound up in the little…
