Good luck, reach out to people like you here, try little by little to make good decisions, figure out what works for you, etc. You can do it. One day at a time.
-
Also, you don't need to be too nutzo about logging EXACTLY what you ate, (ie figuring out if it was Kraft vs. Heinz ketchup, etc.), just try to be honest with yourself.
-
It works if you stick generally to your goals. It makes me think about what I'm eating, and motivates me to get out for a walk or a bike ride. Slow and steady.

I've never seen it work and I live 2 miles from Canada...

I agree, having friends in my age range is helpful. Similar experiences.

Bodies sometimes "shut down" a little when you don't have enough calories, and you actually might have trouble losing weight. Someone else can explain in more technical terms. Good luck though, you show a lot of determination being 1000 under. Try MEETING your calorie goals, they are set to help you lose weight.

I like to have friends who are in my (approximate) age range and fitness/health goals. It's always nice to have positive friends. Feel free to add me.

Fruit!

Unsure, viewable to friends only.

This is definitely a good place to talk about it. Good luck!

Pointers? Try to log in every day, try to be honest with yourself, and try to learn from others, ask for help, and have fun. I try to find friends who are close to me in age and weight (middle aged guy battling middle age spread). You could post asking for help from folks who have had success getting from where you are to…

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the feedback. Sounds like the calorie burn is high, good to know.

My downfall too. "I'll just have one drink." Five drinks later...

Using it for walking, biking, running. I'm not sure I'm going to worry about the calorie count as long as I lose weight!

I like having friends in my age range (I'm 49) so if anyone wants to friend me please do. I find the challenges of staying fit and healthy have required some adjustment as I got older, that is, I have to take it a little easier, and sometimes I need advice or just to hear what others are going through, because I've never…

Thanks you guys.

You're not alone, a lot of people struggle with feelings like these. I do. Some therapy might be useful, and don't beat yourself up.

I don't like Strawberries and have never seen Something About Mary.

Maybe you're getting more buff. And 6 days isn't much, keep at it!

Thanks Dave, I've been running barefoot on a treadmill for two months and want to get some shoes for outdoor running, these are good pointers.

C25K (couch to 5K) is a reasonable way for new runners to ease into the sport without injuring yourself.

You're welcome Irene, thanks for checking in. Just to clarify, my legs aren't excruciating, but if something were going to hold me back I was surprised to find it's my legs and not my being out of breath.

Great advice all, thanks. Sounds like I'm not going through anything out of the ordinary. It helps to know others have had the experience and some tools to handle it.

Grillers prime veggie burger, 2 slices whole wheat, mustard.

Nice post, thanks!

I wonder if we have the same 21-speed Schwinn? Mine is a hybrid with road tires. Most of the time I'm in 2nd gears, because I live in relatively flat country. Usually between gears 2-5 and 2-7. Sometimes on hills I get as low as 2-3, but I haven't had to climb any sustained big hills. Sometimes I use the 3rd gears, i.e.…

I didn't read whole thread, but would say it's important to keep healthy eating and exercise as part of your lifestyle generally, and perhaps put the scale on the back burner for a while.

Barefoot style shoes, or barefoot.

Just do it. Don't think about how you look or think you feel. I'm a salesman professionally and just turn off my own response to negative feedback (which hopefully you won't be getting! :). Try it a few times and you might just get over the hump.

Because it's way more fun to be a drunk in my yard.
