For newcomers, how to find friends
Don't be shy about finding friends. Go out and find them. It's totally OK to go to an individual's profile and request to be friends. Read these message boards for others looking for friends, as they're looking too. Finally, finding people with similar goals, challenges, ages, etc. to you might make for a nice peer group…

Using Endomondo. Seems good. Others?
I've been using Endomondo to track exercise. Seems like a good tool. Anyone had what they consider better experiences with something else? Just curious.

Middle age hit me. What about you?
Embarrassed to say I've let myself go a little. Anyone else 40-something and feeling a little more tired and a little less strong? I need to get back to taking better care of myself. Feel free to friend me up, I'm a good guy and have enjoyed MFP in years past.

Had meniscus surgery in Jan, still wary
Anyone else had knee surgery? My knee is still a little sore sometimes and bugs me a little, though the agony of the torn meniscus was fixed by the surgery. Still, I'm apprehensive about running again. Maybe I'll stick to biking and walking. I'd be interested to hear anyone else's stories of recovery, or lack thereof, how…

Late 40's seeks similar, trying to stay fit friends.
Male, late 40's, getting back into MFP after being away for a year or so. Not a hard core exerciser, but bike and walk and should probably do strength training too. I'm a good MFP friend when I'm doing it.

Runners - do you use more than one pair of running shoes?
Hi Gang: I'm looking for some feedback from experienced runners. I've been training for a couple of months on a treadmill, running barefoot. It's gone well. I recently purchased a pair of minimalist shoes for outdoor running. I like them, but I can see wanting a pair of more traditional running shoes too. Maybe mix up the…

New runner - legs not lungs are the issue
I'm a reasonable athlete (soccer, biking) but have never been a good, consistent distance runner. I'm now doing Couch to 5K, just finished week 2. I find while I'm running that I'm not out of breath so much as my legs get tired (lactic acid?). Has anyone else had this experience? Do I just need to build up my vascular…

Need some middle aged friends!
I'm kind of lazy, 47 years old, male. I tend to be on MFP for a while, then off, then on, then off. Motivation is an issue for me and some fresh faces would be welcome to share your successes and challenges and keep me chugging along. (No dis to my awesome current MFP friends, you guys are great).

Has anyone had bad experience with barefoot running?
I'm interested in this and have started to dabble. I've heard a lot of pros but would also be interested in anyone has had injuries, plantar fascitis, etc.

Touring vs. racing bike?
Starting to think about my next bike. I'm a road biker and don't ride so much for speed as for exercise and enjoyment. I'm wondering if anyone has experience with road bikes that are "touring" bikes, as opposed to straight racing bikes. I'd still do the drop handlebars and everything.

Coffee makes my workouts easier. Is this bad?
I'm a coffee drinker and I ride my bike a lot. I find on those mornings when I've already had a cup of coffee I tend to ride a little faster and the workout seems easier. That's logical, caffeine is a stimulant. I'm just curious to know if there are any thoughts on whether this is good for you/bad for you, etc. Thanks!

Motivation follows action
Something I've noticed on those days where I feel out of sorts and want to skip a workout: Once I get started I feel pretty good about doing it. There's an old psychology adage that "Motivation follows action," and I'd say it's very true about workouts, too. So for all the beginners (like me - I've only been working out 6…

Anyone having problems with Droid GPS signals?
I'm in Western New York, and use a Droid w/Verizon service. I love it for tracking my workouts. The last few days it won't pick up a GPS signal for Sportypal, Endomondo, Google Maps, etc. Have tried reboot etc. etc. Anyone know if Verizon is having issues?

Eating under my calorie goals, but late.
Because of an after-work commitment I've been eating rather late dinners (after 8pm). I've been under my calorie goals but have always though eating late is a no-no for weight loss purposes. Any thoughts on this?

3-minute walks useful?
I've been grabbing a 3 minute walk around my office building when I get the chance. Trying to do several a day. Any idea whether this is useful, worth logging, etc.?

Friends keep me motivated
Hello - This is my 2nd try at MFP and the difference this time is I have been taking on friends. I have discovered that having friends motivates me and it's nice to be able to compare notes, stories, successes. Please feel free to friend me up and I'll try to be a helpful and supportive friend too!

Others fighting the middle age spread?
I'm a middle aged guy looking for others here on MFP to give myself some benchmarks and inspiration. Friend me up! Thanks! Women welcome too, of course.

Daily vs. Weekly
For those worried about daily vs. weekly weigh-ins: I do mine daily, and today was UP a pound. But for the week I'm DOWN like four pounds. So always remember to keep the long-term big picture in mind. Good luck!

Any middle aged guys out there? Friend me up.
I'd be interested in having friends who are similar to me, to give myself some benchmarks and ideas. I'm 46, have young kids, office job. Others are welcome to be friends too, of course!

Several smaller meals per day?
Does anyone find it easier to have several smaller "meals" during the day? Breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner? Seems to be easier to stay under my calorie goals and not be hungry between meals.

Took a hiatus, now back into it
I dropped off the Myfitnesspal map for six months and am back to it for a week now. I find simply keeping track of what I eat keeps me motivate to eat better, eat less, exercise more.

This is working (!)
I never tried to lose weight in my life before now, and just by taking my dog for longer walks and keeping track of my calorie intake on Myfitnesspal I've managed to drop 7 lbs in a month.
