I love candy too and used to eat until my tummy hurt. I found it takes about three weeks to cleanse the body. After that, you can "reward" yourself with natural sugar (grapes, strawberries, melon) in healthy seervings. My cravings are pretty much gone, but you can't just deprive yourself of any "treats" - we have to…

<<Open>> I find that making the public commitment keeps me honest. I like to think it doesn't influence my choices, but I am sure it does. I just try to stick to "Eat it - log it" - so far working pretty well. The biggest thing about logging is making ME aware of EVERYTHING I consume. It comes down to becoming…

we all have bad days. Exercise and support from friends and loved ones always lifts my spirits! Stick with it - you can do it

In order of my preference: Trainer - if you can afford it Partner - if you are so lucky to have one who can work with you on a regualrt schedule Music - just get your best adrenaline pumping music and do it Cheers, Matt

Most things come out right and it is faster. However, just as with the food entered into the MFP database, you have to double check everything to be sure. I find things that are right, but missing sodium or serving size wrong etc.. Once you verify and put in your food list, then you don't have to worry about it again. Most…

I was seriously thinking about it, but a fair number of people have commented on the durability factor (i.e., it does hold up well with rigorous use). Be interested to see what long-term users (i.e., 6 months or more) have found.

Once a week - the daily fluctuations are too depressing!

Well, it still does get boring, but I have a great imagination, so close my eyes and day dream a lot while rocking out...who cares if I lok like a freak!

I personally don't believe in weight loss products. You have to cut calories, increase your metabolism by exercising more and be patient. I don't know if accelerated gains from chemicals (no matter how natural - after all arsenic and lead are 100% natural, right) are A. healthy or B. sustainable. As many here on MFP will…

+1 on the personal trainer. I was always lifting too much or wrong way (form) and hurting myself. I now lift a lot less weight after working with a trainer for 6 sessions, but it is more effective and no injuries!

Fit into my old "new" pants again - I bought a few years ago before I put on weight. Like having a new wardrobe!

Yes - I knew there was something I didn't like :-)

Tom, You've got a friend request! Matt

People who aren't supportive. Even people who are "right" but just keep reminding people of it. Give your constructive advice or opinion (helpful to differentiate the two if possible) and don't let the little stuff bother you. Let people know up front if you are trying to be humorous (no, some people won't get it and/or…

Cereal by far!!! Current: Equal parts Trader Joes Bran Flakes and Toasted Oatmeal with 1% milk. My less healthy alternative is a stack of pancakes, waffles or french toast with butter and REAL maple syrup ....mmm

For some of us, it is NOT easy! It makes all lot of willpower and the best thing you can do is avoid cake situations altogether if possible. My daughter had two b-day parties this weekend and it was hard to say no, but it was just grocery store sheet cake. I will allow myself to have a small piece of cake if it really good…

Request sent! MFP is great - been on for a month and overwhelmed by all the positive and helpful people! Others who are supportive and looking for support, feel free to add me as well  Cheers, Matt

I agree with what others have said. I would add that love and physical attraction are not the same. For many, physical attraction is very important, but this will diminish as we age. That being said, being healthy and feeling good about yourself make up 90% of attractiveness IMHO

Yes, had issues and insecurities since I was a kid too. Even when I was in great shape, still thought of myself as not being where I wanted to be!We are own worst enemies. We need to learn to be our own best friends. We are all on a journey here, it is similar for many of us, so that is why i find MFP to be such a great…

I do three days cardio only (elliptical and rowing) and three days of cardio (elliptical only) and strength training. I aim for 70-80 minute workouts and basically do circuit trainit with the free weights and crunches...seems to be working. The music keeps me from getting too bored (thank you iPod!). I prefer to bike,…

Find something you actually like...biking, walking, volleyball, swimming and do that primarily. I basically just day dream when doing cardio, but sometimes watch TV at the gym...it is part of the price of fitness...just got to find something right for you to get in the zone :-)

I had a plateau for about a week, but I am back on track. Just adjusted my MFP daily calorie count down 200...think I was over estimating my daily activity ( I do sit at the computer for many hours on most days unless I teaching or consulting) Any way 12 down and 8 to go...I think I will get close  If not, I have…

I had a great workout at the gym...wanted to go 80 minutes, but only lasted 77 til my legs went to jello... I have seen great improvement since I started using my asthma inhaler regularly before my cardio workouts..so nice to be able to breathe!!!

This only works if you measure your calories accurately. I get lazy and try to approximate a serving, but usually wind up with 1.5 cups instead of a cup in a big bowl (i tlooks small). My solution is to use a one-cup bowl, can't go over then! As yu can tell, part of my proble is portion control, and estimating is hard to…

Well, being a guy, its not the butt, its the gut! I have jeans that fall down, but my belly hangs over - gross! :ohwell: I love food, that's it. I love good food the most, but once I start eating mindlessly, then I eat just because food is there. I am working extra hard NOT to just pop food into my mouth at a party or in…
