No problem Don! Request resent.

I think it definitely has merit. I didn't start running until 2011 at 40 years old and 260 lbs. (5'6"). 2 years later I was at 166-170 lbs. and setting PRs at every distance, every time out culminating with my first marathon in 2013. After a short break I kept the weekly mileage up but got very lax on my eating. Currently…

Right on. Just wanted to reemphasize what these 2 are saying. I ran my first marathon last March with 2 years of consistent running, 4 half marathons (road & trail), and an 18 week marathon training plan that included three 20 milers under my belt. Miles 20ish-26.2 of that marathon were complete misery. I thought I was…

I'm in the same boat. My second ever marathon is 4 weeks from a half that I'm registered for this coming weekend. It's also my recovery week and I've adjusted my schedule so I have 2 days rest before the half & a rest day and recovery day after the half. I have NEVER run a race where a PR wasn't my goal and as now that is…

Mine is also the day after my long run. Typical schedule is: M - Rest T - Run/Strength W - Run Th - Cross/Strength F - Run Sa- Run Su - Run

They have quite a bit more cushioning but are noticeably heavier. I have the same issue as you with the MM. Love the way they feel and I definitely feel faster in them than the Cascadia but I can only use them on shorter runs or less rugged trails due to the lack of cushioning.

Thanks to this thread I can now add Brooks Cascadia 8 in Blue to my trail shoe rotation. 6pm.com had 1 left in my size at 46% off.

Current rotation: Road: Brooks Adrenaline GTS 13 in Red Brooks Adrenaline GTS 13 in Blue Brooks Adrenaline GTS 12 in Blue (rainy day shoes) Trail: Brooks Cascadia 7 in Red Brooks Cascadia 7 in Blue Merrell Mix Master 2 I should probably upgrade to the Cascadia 8's before they disappear. I find I get a much longer life out…

I like the Smartwool PhD Run Ultra Light socks. They are pricey but worth it imo. Never had any trouble with my feet.

Thanks guys. The more I think about it, the more I want to tackle another one. I see things now in regards to my diet that I did to achieve a certain number in the days just prior to the race that I didn't do throughout my training including long runs that may have effected my stomach & hydration. Until then I'll keep…

Love it when it's warm. Loathe it when it's cool & windy. A summertime drizzle, I'll go out for a run even if I don't have one planned.

Zydeco Marathon in Lafayette, LA in only 4 days! My very first marathon. I am way more nervous than I thought I would be and this taper is killing me!

Zydeco Marathon in Lafayette, LA in only 5 days! My very first marathon. I am way more nervous than I thought I would be and this tapering is killing me! My initial goal based on my recent half marathons was just under 4:00 but based on my pace & feel during and after the long training runs I'm not optimistic about that…

My first marathon is March 30th. I have been running for 2 years. In that time I have raced 3 half marathon's and a few smaller races. Throughout this past summer, fall, & early winter I maintained a base of 30-40 miles/week with a weekly long run of 10-13 miles. Jumped up to marathon training in late December and so far…

Thanks for sharing this. I had not read or heard that before. I'm running my first marathon in 6 weeks and I knew the equivalent time I was seeing on some calculators seemed unrealistic. I hope to be in under that 20 minutes but it seems like a reasonable number.

Thanks for the replies. Guess it's back to the Doc and hopefully a script for some PT.

I was in the same price range when I was looking for one a year ago. After extensive research I decided on the Schwinn 431. I have no complaints... Does what it advertises and is holding up just fine.

According to Garmin... 75.14 Running 27.15 Elliptical

Thanks for sharing your journey. Very inspirational.

Good read. Very inspirational. Congrats on a great race Carson.

I own the 210 and love it. It does everything I currently want/need. You don't need the monitor to get calorie count. It will calculate your burn based on speed, distance, and your weight you entered when setting up the device. Not as accurate as with the heart rate monitor, but it will give the calorie burn. I haven't had…

Right here. I started my health/fitness journey in February 2012 at 41 years old and 260 lbs. Initially with diet, strength training, and elliptical. In April my kids school had a 5K fund raiser. They signed up, I didn't because I knew I couldn't do it. After sitting there and watching the event instead of participating I…

4:00 am run every other day. 4:00 am strength training on the other days. 8:00 pm elliptical on 2 of the strength training days. It's not ideal or easy but it works out best for my family & work.

I surpassed it on April 8th. That was also the day I started running... at 41 years old and about 100 lbs. overweight. As of yesterday I'm at 264.10 miles for the year. I try to run every other day and would LOVE to go more often but I want to make sure I build up properly. I have a my first race, a local 5K, scheduled for…

I run on uninhabited dirt field roads. I just ordered a headlamp as the daylight hours are getting shorter and time change is in my future. I'm not really concerned about being visible to other humans as these roads are only used at harvest time but I am worried about what types of creatures await me. Hopefully only…

This. I do some resistance bands and dumbbells for strength training indoors and have an elliptical machine for when the weather dictates indoor cardio. Other than that, if I can do it outdoors, I'm doing it.
-
Thanks Brian. iyo & considering my work schedule, would it be better to go for a shorter run (3-4 miles) every day instead of every other day while getting in a long run every other weekend.
-
Weather permitting, always go outdoors.
