If I can do it, YOU can do it! I'd never run a step in my life, and now I can run 5K without stopping! Yes, that first time it ramps up like that sucks, and you think you're going to blow a lung or a hamstring or both, but YOU CAN DO IT! Push through it, pace yourself, don't worry about how fast you're going, just do the…

I did that because I wasn't sure at which weight I'd be most comfortable. Now that I've almost reached my second goal (first goal was 130, I'm almost at 125 now), I'm thinking I'll move it to 120. As of now I don't think I'll go lower than that, but I'll wait and see how I feel at that weight.

I'll feel better when I lose the 2 pounds I gained. The only thing that bothers me (not necessarily guilty, just bothered) is that I ate things I didn't even want and didn't like, just because I felt I had to (as a guest). It's a mindset that I haven't changed yet, but I'm working on it!

I think I've changed mine a few times, but the only ones I really look at are protein and fat. I started tracking fiber when I realized I wasn't getting enough. I quit tracking sugar because I'm aware of where most of mine comes from--fruit--and it always shows up high. I quit tracking sodium because I eat very little…

Congratulations and good luck on maintenance! I am in the same boat. I'm 2 pounds from my original goal and am not yet sure if I want to stop there or not, but I've already increased my calories to 1500. I'm currently losing roughly between .2 and .8 pounds a week. I'm not sure how maintenance works since I've never really…

That sounds awesome! I've been looking for something else to do with my PB2! Thanks!

I think you've made a great decision--doesn't seem wishy-washy at all to me. For some of us, 1200 calories just isn't realistic and sets us up for failure. Like you, I quickly figured that out and started upping mine by 50-100 calories at a time over a few weeks. I've found 1500 to be a good number for me. I'm still…

My carb goal (ratio) is set at 40%. My fat goal (ratio) is set at 30%. I'm almost always over--sometimes way over, especially on fat. I try to get my carbs from whole grains, fruits, and veggies most of the time. I try to get as much protein as possible as well, but I'm usually under my goal. I've lost 23 pounds since…

This is what I just did as I was in the same boat. All of my activity is outdoor activity, and with the winter coming I knew I couldn't keep it up. I broke down and joined a gym today. I will be able to "freeze" my account once the weather warms up and then activate it again when it gets cold again. I understand that's…

Congratulations on your success! You have perfectly articulated the process I myself have gone through, which I love because I have trouble explaining it to others in the way that you have. When I have tried to explain what I've done to lose the weight I have lost, people give me the deer-in-the-headlights look. I think a…

That's so awesome! It makes it look so easy!

Good to know! Thanks!

LOL...I can see the scene. :)

My husband is not too hip on the idea yet, either. He thinks I've lost it, but he does prefer the fresh eggs to store bought and he loves animals, so I'm hoping he'll warm up to the idea.
-
I do love the taste of a fresh egg! :drinker:

Oh my! Yes, I told my husband the dog cannot mix with the chickens. Our dog has a history of killing birds already. Good to know your husband came around once the chickens got there. I think mine will do the same. I just have ease into this, I think. Thanks for the info!

LOL...That's awesome!

I didn't know that about letting the poop "rest."' Good to know! Thanks!
-
Sounds like you started out small and are working your way up. I think that's why I want to start with just 2, just to see if I can do it. Good luck with yours! I hope you get some more! :drinker:

Awwww, your Scarlet sounds like a great bird! I do like the ones with pretty feathers. ;)

I do worry about the winter, which in Texas could be no worse than fall or could be a frozen tundra situation. I figured we'd need a light and heater, but I didn't think about heating the water. Thanks!

That's an awesome photo! What a wonderful garden and I love the little chicken enclosure! I have a lot to learn before I can create something like you have, but that's wonderful! Thanks for sharing!
-
Awwww, I'm glad to hear they have a good home! Maybe you'll be able to get more someday.

Neither is my husband---yet! ;)

LMAO! Thanks for the honesty! And thanks for the info on goats, too! I have always wanted a goat, until I petted some at the fair and couldn't get the smell off my hands for a day and a half!
-
Yeah! Good luck to you! We still haven't made a decision, but I love all the advice and ideas here! So glad to know so many people have had success with it and actually enjoy it!

When you say it that way, it definitely sounds manageable! I go back and forth, worrying that it's too much work and then thinking that it's worth it. My husband is pretty stuck now on the thought that it's too much work. I will have to work on that! ;)
-
OMG...I literally laughed out loud!! That's hysterical!!!
-
That's awesome! I've never seen a chicken act like that! :)

Great resources! Thanks!
