  • Thank you! :drinker:
  • They are beautiful! Your enclosure is basically what I'm envisioning, only with some type of cover/fencing on the top. I never thought of using dog kennels. That's a good idea!
  • I have a vision of my husband sitting in the yard with a chicken fast asleep in his lap! He'd love that! Not sure he'd love the chasing part, though. ;)
  • Awww...see, that makes me want them even more! My husband didn't want to think about what would happen when they got too old to lay, but keeping them around in their retirement is a great idea, I think!
  • :( I'm sorry about your hens. What happened to them?
  • I've heard about the Brahmas recently. They are supposed to do well here in Texas, I think. I do worry about the time involved. We used to joke about our "farm" when had 2 cats, 2 dogs, and a bird. Now that we're down to just 1 of each we've noticed how much easier it is to take care of them all. Adding chickens would…
  • That's good to know they will eat treats like that! I love the names of your hens, also. :)
  • So you're a REAL farm girl! That's awesome! 20 is a lot of hens!
  • Hmmmm...never thought about animals/predators digging UNDER the fence. :noway: That's something to think about!
  • Ooooohhhh!!! The county extension office! That's a good idea! Something else I didn't think of! And 'chicken tractors' sounds like a great project! Thanks!
  • Thanks! I didn't think about how they would be more "pet like" if we got them as chicks, but that makes sense that handling them when they're young would help tame them. Your idea of rasing the cornish cross chicks for meat makes a lot of sense, but I've just learned my husband doesn't think he can kill and eat anything we…
  • Ha! No, definitely NOT buying a rooster! ;)
  • LOL...and little hats. :)
  • Thank you! I didn't think about giving the poop to gardeners! I do know people who compost, so maybe they could use it! I do worry about our climate. I have a lot more research to do! :)
  • If you really are accurately tracking every single bite (weighing/measuring, not guesstimating), and you're using an HRM for calories burned (not MFP's calories), you may be retaining water. I know it seems like 10 pounds is a lot of water, but it could be at least part of the problem. I know that when I do more intensive…
  • Third. I used to use MapMyRun and loved it, also. I switched to Endomondo b/c I had other friends on there who were not on MapMyRun. These and several others have free versions that you can try to see if you like them. Then you can pick the one you liked the best. Good luck!
  • How fun! I'll have to give that some thought, but I might just be able to do it! <3
  • Bump! :drinker:
  • I LOVE IT! Congratulations! For those who say that walking "doesn't do anything" and that you can't lose weight with walking, I believe you have proven them wrong! Like you, I first began my fitness journey with the goal of making 10K steps a day. Like you, my beginning average was <3,000 a day. Walking alone helped me…
  • I log in every day and have only not completed my diary one time (this past Friday). It's open and feel free to friend me if you'd like! Good luck!
  • Wow! Look at you go! That's quite an accomplishment! Good luck on the rest of your journey! :flowerforyou:
  • AMEN! OMG, this is ridiculous! I don't even like GB, but that was WRONG!
  • I know how disappointing that can be. Learn from your past. It sounds like you have figured out how you lost your way. Take your new found knowledge and use it to make changes which will help you create and maintain a new future. Every second of every day is another chance to make a healthier choice, and you've made one…
  • ^^Exactly! I purposely didn't change my normal routine for the first 2 days I was on MFP just so I could get a sense of what I was actually consuming in a day. It was DEFINITELY eye opening! I was easily eating close to 3000 calories a day on most days, and it wasn't necessarily junk food--it was just a lot of food! I had…
  • I agree. When I first started MFP back in March I obsessed over everything! My husband would tell you I still do, but I've come to a place in my journey where now I can trust that I know what will work and I can relax a little and know that even if I mess up, I can fix it.. The big picture can be overwhelming at times, but…
  • I'm seeing a pattern! I also have done WW in the past (several times), and like so many others I was hungry ALL the time (and quite bi*chy because of it). I stuffed myself with cherry tomatoes and carrots just to try to stop the hunger because they were low/no points. They changed the plan twice during my time on WW and…
  • It happens. I believe it's all part of the process of changing habits, but even when habits are mostly changed there will be some difficult days. Kudos to you for recognizing your triggers and reaching out for support. Tomorrow is another day and another chance to practice new habits. Good luck with your c25k! Tomorrow is…
  • I don't have a yonana, but when I was researching to buy one I discovered that my juice extractor would do the same thing. We use that to make the yonana "ice cream." It's YUM!
  • Take your favorite yogurt and blend it with frozen fruit to make "frozen yogurt." Freeze bananas and eat like ice cream, or just have a small amount of real ice cream. Chocolate milk, bowl of Cocoa Krispies, or a couple of squares of 85% dark chocolate fix my chocolate cravings.
  • I have done WW a couple of times or more over the years and always had the same experience you just had. It just doesn't seem like a sustainable plan to me (whatever the plan of the month is). I discovered MFP by accident in March and I've loved it! I'm almost to maintenance now and I'm planning to continue because I like…
