I applaud you! I also did that about four years ago... knew nothing about gym equipment. The elliptical was also my first choice. I got on and almost fell off when the pedal moved down before I had a chance to place the other foot in the second pedal! After about a month, I got a new member tour of the equipment. It helped…

I'm going to the gym to workout and sweat... not to be pretty. So I get my gym attire at our local discount store... yoga pants, tank top or tight t-shirt (if my t-shirt is too baggy, you risk giving a show while doing push-ups... I learned that the hard way when I first started.) and a sports bra. The only thing I spend a…

Welcome! :)

Welcome Janet! I'm also at the YMCA and my only winter motivation is to bring good music with me at the gym. When it's this cold though, I use this cool app on my android phone by Nike called Training Club. It gives you circuit training workouts you can do at home. I am using those until the weather warms up a little.

I believe Snap Fitness is a month by month membership. Hope there is one near your area.

That is awesome! Congrats!

I got a free one month membership at the Snap Fitness in Rockland.

Thanks for that link JezzD1!

Beans! Kidney Beans, black beans, lentils... all high protein... They fill me to no end. A low fat Cottage cheese added to a salad instead of dressing helps too.

So sorry that you have to go through this! I just kicked mine to the curb for the same reason after five years! He did not find me attractive.... I was almost 30lbs lighter when I met him. We have BOTH gained weight. We were not married though and did not live together. He is turning 40 and decided he wanted kids and a…

High Five for the progress you have made in such a short time! Keep it going!

Salut Michel! Nice to meet you. You have quite the success story!

Oh gosh! You and I have the exact same weight gain. I was between 125 and 130 in my 20's.. then 130 to 135 from 30 to 35yrs and then 135-142 in my late thirties now in my forties I had jumped to 168lbs! I am at 157 lbs now... I started MFP after I had lost 8lbs which is why my weight ticker only shows 3lbs lost. I give up…

I agree with not focusing on the numbers too much. Focus on how you feel now! Much better than 38lbs heavier.... right? Focus on a reward once you have surpassed a certain weight or amount of time you kept it off and kept going. Maybe a new outfit, or a spa treatment or massage. Put your future image first in your mind. Do…

Gladiator Walk. You can do it with dumbells. Check it out on youtube. Crunches on the ball with chest flys (if you have an excercise ball) Russian twists... you can do them with a weight too.

I also suffer from hypothyroidism and am on 125mcg synthroid. Since early September, my scale has not moved... 1lb up and 1lb down.... every week. Frustrating!

I love your outfit! I do Zumba on Thursdays for my workout. I love the class and the music. :o) It really gets me in a great mood!

That is awesome! You look great!

That is awesome Craig! You're daughter is really sweet! Love the picture!

Oddly enough my tummy growls late at night too. Really late... like midnight and waking up hungry. This is when I make bad decisions because I'll grab cookies most of the time. I'm half asleep!

What a great start for you! Good luck on your journey. I wish I could do the couch25k program but I need to assess my shins first. I am circuit training, doing zumba and kickboxing right now. The scale has been stuck for a month but I am sure it's because of the muscle build up.

To motivate myself, I need to go to the gym to be with other people. That is my motivation. If I go at it alone, I am not my own biggest motivator. I register for scheduled classes. I measure myself weekly. The inches do make a difference even if the weight doesn't change. I try different low fat recipes to vary what I eat…

Great going Ashley! One step at a time and you will reach your goal. :o)

Red Shiraz wine and chocolate... specially those Reese's Peanut Butter cups!

I have to lose between a sperm whale's brain and an automobile tire. Wow! That really gave me a reality check... I don't care much for a sperm whale's brain but if I gain 3 lbs, I'll have to lose a car tire! That's a lot around my waist!

I'm thinking that you need to review your diet. It's good to change it up every week. I believe it would be good to cross train. You can do a mixed circuit training workout as you can easily do a short one at home. There are tons of free routines online. Good luck busting through that plateau of yours. I'm still trying to…

Welcome Ashley. :o)

Physically, I feel fine. It makes me happy to see that I can follow the 30 year olds at the gym in Circuit training. At 44, I feel better than I did two years ago. My main goal is to tone up what gravity wants to pull down, what energy pre-menopause and low thyroid is trying to take away from me! lol You can do this! The…

This happened to me a couple of weeks ago. When I increased my going to the gym 5x per week rather than 3x. I spread out my foods more throughout the day and found that helped solve the problem. I was starving for lunch so I would have an apple about a half hour before lunch, then have lunch, then have a yogourt a half…
