I have been single for seven years now. I have my bouts with loneliness but I have many hobbies to keep me busy. My dog keeps me company a lot too! For the most part, I am quite happy being by myself. I knit and I do weekly activities with my knitting group. I also read and am part of a knitting club who meets monthly. I…

I'm in that same boat. I quit smoking last year and gained 20lbs. I'm peri-menopausal though and I cannot wait for this to be over! In my family, it lasts about 3-4 years. I started last fall. Weight gain, hot flashes, lengthy menstruation, sleep is a hit and miss. My weight loss looks like a yo-yo. Lose 5, gain 5... I'm…

I'm 47 and peri-menopausal. This is wreaking havoc on my body. I quit smoking last year, gained 20lbs and am having a tough time losing it. Going to get back into my running schedule and train for a half marathon. I don't know what is up with my hormones but I crave more food than when I was pregnant! No fried things...…

47 seems to be a magic number around here! I'm running away from menopause or trying very hard to! I need accountability and humor!! Fell off the fitness/nutrition wagon twice already this year and hopped back on for the third time and hanging on for dear life!

This is my fourth year running this Spring and I'm 47. I am not fast runner but I will be training for my second half marathon which will be in September. Since I am nearing the 50 mark, I am focusing on strength training to help in my running and hopefully avoid injury. :)

Hi and welcome back! :)

I'll confess.... I have a cleaning crew once a week just for the main floor and washrooms of my house. The rest I do when the cleaning crew is there (bedrooms and basement). It forces me to pick up the clutter on the main floor on Friday nights. I'm a single Mom and wouldn't be able to keep up otherwise. I food prep every…

This is my third year running. I am training for another half-marathon. I'm not sure I could do a full marathon. Hope you had a great 5k!!!

Mine are getting wonky... I have them earlier and longer. I'll be 47 in July. I started bloating, mood swings at anytime of the month and energy drops. I'm also low thyroid and every pound is sticking! So frustrating!
-
Alesaux1867 it takes three weeks of running and workouts for the scale to even start moving for me. It's frustrating.

For one, I'm 46 and don't consider myself old. Show that hubby that you are one hot lady! Log your calories and start exercising... Even if it's just walking three times a week. You got this!

I suffer from hypothyroidism... Just getting any weight off is a struggle. I find that if I change up my workouts and add intensity it helps. And a week of soups does wonders... Homemade soups. Keep up on the water too.

46 here and struggling to keep the momentum going after the holidays. I gained back 6 of the 15lbs I had lost. Hoping to keep the motivation up. I think hormones are playing a big role in my moods.

We're here for you! Start by changing one thing at a time. You'll get there. If you have questions, just ask. Hugs! You got this!!
-
46 here too with hypothyroidism!! I know your struggle! Welcome!!

Well, it's just me and my son. We eat the same meals but he might have potatoes or pasta or rice while I just add veggies. He is very supportive of my running and doesn't mind to eat later. I meal prep on weekends so it saves time.

I run three times a week (that will increase at the end of May as I start half-marathon training schedule), strength train twice a week but would like to increase that to four (if I can start Jamie Eason's LiveFit program) and do a lot of walking.

Nice to meet you Hope! You're right, clean eating and fitness will give you strength to fight that third battle. I'm 46 and just battle the weight issue every day... low thyroid makes it tough but persistence is the key.

Congratulations ddmusica! I have 15lbs left of my 30lb goal to lose. I am running and strength training. Hope to be in good shape by the end of June! I deal with low thyroid issues so losing weight is really tough. I never drank soda, never did drive thrus. Pasta, bread and rice are not a daily thing for me but I am…

I used to be fit and muscular. I was until I turned 41!! I'm not sure if it's hormones or what but five years later, I have to work three times as hard to lose the 30lbs that have creeped on my body! I began running three years ago which got rid of some weight. But during the winter, in Canada, you just don't run in -31…

That is awesome! Congrats!

I'm doing it in small chunks. 10lbs by end of May and then another 10lbs by end of August. This is combined with strength training. I want a bikini body to go to Cuba with my kids next Christmas. I want August to be my ultimate goal as I want to get all the bikinis on clearance sale too at my new size! :) Goal, 3lbs for…
