  • A friend of mine has Nike Free shoes, and he loves them. If you are looking for an even less restrictive/more barefoot feel, you might also consider Vibram 5 Fingers shoes. They are basically like gloves for your feet. They don't have any arch support or padding, so your feet and lower legs get much stronger. I have Vibram…
  • I may have to try them as an alternative to string cheese. :-p
  • I definitely feel you man. I frigging love to eat. Like really really LOVE it. Particuarly pizza and other carb and fat filled deliciousness. Today was day 50 for me on this site though, and I find that I am not really having many problems staying under my calories these days. Granted, I have 400 more calories to play with…
  • Its really important not to fall under 1200 calories net for the day. If you do, your body goes into "starvation mode" and you actually save everything you eat as fat because your body thinks you just got stranded in the Sierras with the rest of the Donner Party. That is NET calories, so if you eat 1500 calories and burn…
  • Hey Dora, You are losing fat and building muscle. Muscle is heavier and more dense than fat, so those inches are disappearing, and you are building leaner strong muscle to replace them. That is a good thing! As you continue to monitor calories and work out, you will reach a point where your muscles will be adequate to the…
  • Welcome! This site is really pretty fantastic. Loads of nice people. Add me if you want and we can help support each other!
  • I'm a big fan of Subway. Their Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki six inch on flatbread has about 400 calories and its really pretty delicious. :-)
  • I definitely feel you here. Fortunately for me I'm not much of a sweets fan, but hamburgers and hotdogs off the grill are definitely one of my weak spots. I figure I am going to take a two pronged approach. Firstly, I'll kill myself at the gym in the morning before the bbq so I have a big calorie budged for the day.…
  • Everyone here is completely on target. The simple act of recording everything you eat/ any exercise you do is really helpful, and without even trying to, you will find that you are eating less and exercising more. You are definitely going to do well! Add me if you'd like some support!
  • Welcome! You can absolutely do it! This site is fantastic, and everyone is really supportive. Feel free to add me as a friend if you'd like. :-)
  • Welcome! This place rocks. So does Trader Joe's. So do tamales. Awesome? Yes. :-)
  • Hey, welcome to the site! Ive only been here a short time myself, but I am definitely bowled over with the support that I've gotten. So kudos on jumping in and keep up the good work! Feel free to friend me if you'd like for mutual motivation purposes. :-)
  • Welcome Deborah! You can do it!
  • I tend to agree with Sassy. It seems like fewer calories should be better, right, as long as you aren't entering the starvation zone of under 1200 net calories. Of course thats based on a complete lack of anything resembling an education in biochemistry, so I could definitely be wrong. :-)
