Congratulations, you fed your body and it thanked you by releasing the weight it was holding on to. :D Go here and be freed from "dieting" and start changing your life: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/3817-eat-more-to-weigh-less

I am not an expert, but everything I have read says you should row from the floor, I am not sure what the cage is doing for you, if you need to drop the weights the floor is there.. I normally start with the bar on the floor, put my toes under the bar. I then lift my butt up enough to put tension on the bar, look up to…

Each lb that you are overweight is 8 on your knees and 10 on your back (as I am finding out building a deck!). I would think you would want to stick to walking (best) or elliptical until you are are healthier weight. Your joints will thank you later in life.

I did the same thing. The responses and new friends were overwhelming. It was even better when three weeks later I got a thank you letter from someone saying that had broken through a three month plateau with the advice in my thread.

What are you doing for exercise?

I had my aha moment yesteday. I took pics of myself when I started lifting heavy. I looked at those pictures for the first time (after 3 whole weeks) and couldn't believe what I saw in the mirror. I also noticed that my elbows no longer touch my sides when my arms hang down. I haven't taken measurements in a while, but I…

As many of you know I am a HUGE proponent of Eat More to Weigh Less. I currently consume 2550 calories a day, lift heavy 3 days a week, walk, and work on home improvement stuff. I went from eating 1700 calories a day to 2550 and haven't looked back. The inches are dropping off, the weight is following. If you can eat more…

Read this. A woman stayed obese on 700 calories a day. Its NOT the right way to lose weight. Living With Obesity At 700 Calories Per Day! By: David Greenwalt I want you to consider a common female client. She's a woman about 5'5" and 185 pounds. A combination of a mostly sedentary lifestyle, quick-fix, processed foods and…

You need to eat about 1800 calories. For more info search the threads like this one: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/586298-if-you-are-scared-to-increase-calories

This looks great, but I am getting WAY higher than 255 calories per serving. So watch that number.

stronglifts.com or Google Starting Strength by Riptoe. Don't be scared of weights. If you are worried about "bulking up" read this: http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2011/07/21/meet-staci-your-new-powerlifting-super-hero/

Of course you are satisfied. You have TRAINED your body to be full after a small amount of food. When I upped my calories I couldn't fathom stuffing 2500 calories a day in my pie hole. I was full after 1900 ( I was netting 1500-1800). Now that I have been feeding myself I am hungry every couple hours. My metabolism is a…

Great Article sleepytexan. I also recommend Lyle Mcdonald's Training the Obese Beginner for those with more than 50lbs to lose. Its a little more technical but its chock full of good info. Its in 7 parts. http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/fat-loss/training-the-obese-beginner.html

You are LITERALLY starving yourself. Look into Eat More, Weigh Less. There are a BUNCH of threads about this very topic: what started me off: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/538381-in-place-of-a-road-map My Favorite thread (cause its mine :-) )…

Crap! So that's where all of mine came from!

The body can fluctuate up to 5 lbs even over a couple of hours. Don't weigh yourself everyday. My scale comes out once a month and the measuring tape every two weeks.
-
I would run away from ANY diet that tells you to stay away from weights. Why not just count your calories? What are your plans when you STOP "dieting"? I am eating 2300-2500 calories a day and losing weight and inches. Portion control is the key.
-
Do some google research on this one. Its pretty bunk.

Rest is an amazing ally :D

I am in the process of building my own rack for home. I am also cleaning the bar off the floor. I can probably clean up to 100 but after that its going to be tough. The rack should be done this week or next.
-
What kind of Macro's were you hitting? You should be eating 1924 calories a day for 1lb a week. If you were consuming a lot of fat AND a lot of carbs, that could have been the problem.

If you really want to understand the challenges in weight loss for an obese person and what to do about them, read this. I warn you, this is very technical and VERY long. Its an amazing site in general, though and chock full of good info: http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/fat-loss/training-the-obese-beginner.html There are…

For Dumbells? I would look into getting the original P90 (not X) series and doing the sculpt circuit. I thought it was a great pre-cursor to the heavy lifting I just started. I too am becoming addicted! I just invested a bunch of money into barbells and I am building my own power rack. I love it.
