My Protein Dilemma
I have a dilemma, that I just can't seem to figure out. Up until this point I have been using the following numbers 2400 calories per day, 40% carbs, 30% protein, 30% fat. I lift heavy using the Stronglifts 5X5. It has been working well but I have not been getting the Fat loss that I had hoped (still have a decently high…

Arthritis
I have been away for a couple weeks. I had developed some pretty bad pain in my hips and and knee. I took a break from lifting and finally it got bad enough that I want to a doctor. Turns out I have arthritis in my right hip (I am only 36), which has irritated the main tendon in my hip. I told the doctor I lift weights and…

If you are scared to increase calories
I want you to do TWO things if you are scared to increase your calories from your media indoctrinated 1200 calorie mentality. 1) Do an informal survey here. Go and read all of the topics where the subject is "my weight loss stalled", "worked 4 weeks haven't lost a pound", etc. and you will notice two things: a. Their NET…

Calories are my ally, not my enemy
I have been on MFP since late February. Like most of you, I put in my numbers, set it to lose a pound a week. I lost 6 bs right away then stalled. I didn't lose a thing for 4 weeks. I was starving all the time, struggling to compete my work outs and my body was just fatigued. I then found the group: Eat more, Weigh Less…

Sciatica
Does anyone else deal with this annoying condition? I haven't been formally diagnosed, but I have all the classic symptoms: pain that radiates from my back down my hip to my knees and sometimes even to my ankle, hard to go from sitting to standing, etc. My question is, how do I deal with this? I have been doing the…

Stronglifts (5x5), When was your first stall?
For those of you doing the Stronglifts workout, I was wondering when your first stall was and on what exercise? I have never lifted heavy weights in my life, I did p90 twice, so I was somewhat strong going into it. I started with the empty bar as it says to do, I am 3 weeks into SL and I haven't had a stall yet, but I…

Stronglifts (5x5) or Heavy Lifting Groups?
I bit the bullet and bought my first set of free weights. After doing p90 sculpt twice I am ready to drop the dumbbell and move to the barbell. All the equipment should be in next week. So I am going to start then. Where are the stronglifts groups here? I saw one for women, but certainly there has to be one for everyone…

Stronglifts with Resistance Bands
Hi all. I am interested in starting a heavy lifting program (Stronglifts 5x5), but I am having some issues: 1) I really need the flexibility to workout from Home. I am a Dad who has my two small kids 50% of the time. I work a lot, and have a girlfriend. Juggling all of these things and getting to a gym is problematic (I…

My Routine
Currently I am doing a VERY basic routine. I am doing P90 Sculpt 1-2, I have been doing this for 3 weeks. I plan to do it for 6 then move up to Sculpt 3-4, and I walk 5 days a week for 30 minutes. I have been using the Fat2Fit program (in the process of increasing my calories). I am thinking about starting with heavy…

Protein, Potassium, and Sodium
These three things seem to be the axis of evil for me. I am always WAY over on Sodium and Protein, and WAY under on potassium. What are some tips and hints to get these numbers in line. I do well with my calories, but not with these stats.
