Try making a smoothie using protein powder. It will have more calories than just protein powder and water, but you can use it as a meal replacement or save enough calories for it as a snack. There are lots of good smoothie recipes, but I like to use 1-2 scoops of protein powder (depending on my protein & calorie needs for…

Pick up a copy of New Rules of Lifting for Women if you are interested in heavy lifting. I enjoyed the book and the exercises. I did not complete the workout due to an injury, but I plan to get back to it. There's lots of good info in there. You can probably get it at the library to decide if you like it before making a…

Practice will help tremendously. I also recruited friends to take "classes" from me and give me critiques. Basically, I'd gather my friends (1 or 2 is fine) and teach them a class. This gave me practice and they gave me feedback on what cues worked what didn't and so on. You'll do great!!

I do. Weight loss is about calories in and calories out. Fruit and veggies are calories in. Also, logging them helps me reach my goal of eating more F/V. I can look at my diary and count how many F/V I've had. This is helpful too when I'm trying to evaluate (or re-evaluate) what is going on with my diet. I'm at a plateau…

Do you have any dietary restrictions? EGGS! I eat a boiled egg for breakfast almost every day, but you could make your eggs any way you want them. I also love Butterball turkey bacon. I eat two pieces for breakfast for 30 calories. They cook in the microwave for about 10 seconds per slice. I like mine extra crispy so I go…

I loved the C25K program. It helped me lose a few pounds, but not many. My weight loss depends almost entirely on what I am eating. What I loved about the program was how empowered I felt after running. You can modify the program to meet your individual goals/needs. I noticed the muscles in my legs standing out more and…

Eggs! They are cheap and high in protein. They are very versatile as well. Boiled eggs make great snacks. You can make omelets with spinach, mushrooms, peppers, a little cheese. You can make frittatas for a heartier meal. Add boiled eggs to a salad. Other high protein foods I enjoy - lean chicken breast, Greek yogurt, nuts…

I'm 33, 5'4" and between 138 and 141. My goal is 125, but I'd be happy with any number on the scale if I were fit. Feel free to add me.

Your food diary looks really good to me. I agree with the posters who have recommended you cut down on the carbs and increase your protein intake. I completely understand with the coffee creamer. Do you think you could cut it down to 2 tbsp? Don't give up what you like, but reduce. I started the NROL4W program. I really…

I love Fresh Food Fast, a cookbook by Cooking Light. It is based on the concept of 5 ingredients in 15 minutes. The 5 ingredients do not include things like olive oil, salt & pepper, etc. The recipes are really great. I've liked everything I've tried. This week I had the Greek Salad Bowl and Orange Beef and Broccoli. You…

I love okra - even pickled okra. You could make a delicious gumbo. Otherwise, you could try roasted okra: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/roasted-okra/. Also oven "fried" okra - http://family.go.com/food/recipe-885930-oven-fried-okra-t/. I haven't tried either recipe, but they have good reviews.

Do you read Runner's World? I really like the magazine. In one issue, there was a story of a runner (I can't remember her name, but she holds world records, etc.) who explained her mental blocks. She talked about feeling "not good enough" and completely psyching herself out. She explained she is always working to overcome…

I focus on my breathing when I feel a stitch. I try to breathe in for two (or three) counts and out for two (or three) counts and time it to my footsteps. I concentrate all of my focus on the breath until the stitch subsides. This usually works for me and the stitch is gone within a relatively short period of time.

Way to go on your success! 1.5 miles is huge! You should definitely find a 5K to give you a goal and keep you motivated. I used the C25K program too - it's wonderful. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in jogging.

As others have mentioned - eggs! They are cheap and a great source of protein. I like to snack on boiled eggs in addition to having a boiled egg for breakfast. You can also make some low calorie frittatas (loaded with veggies) for dinner or lunch. I love peanut butter with apples as a snack too. I use a natural peanut…

Great question. I'm enjoying reading what others have posted. I see some great suggestions. I have a similar schedule to what others have mentioned. I have breakfast at home, snack around 10:30, lunch at 1pm, and then a snack at 3:30. I also agree with the person who said to portion out your snacks so that you don't ruin…

Thank you for sharing your photos. What a difference - and in such a short amount of time! Congrats!

Protein keeps me full. I eat a boiled egg and turkey bacon for breakfast almost every day. Sometimes, I include a boiled egg as a snack during the day as well. Nuts are good snacks too. I like the 100 calorie packs of raw almonds because the portions are controlled for me. I definitely eat my exercise calories back as…

You should try it and continue it if you like it. I love yoga. It's a wonderful complement for strength and cardio for the flexibility and stretching. I love the calming aspect as well. There are many different types so if you don't like what you try at first, try a different kind.
