 No offense nitz, or any of us candy eating crawlers.... there is a reason the thread is called turtle club....    Where is the beer...:drinker: :drinker: :drinker: Listing marathons in the finished column is still highly rewarding, great job nitz. Better hope Jared doesn't beat that time…

Great catch Tom, ya know... Becky is sandbagging. She is really prepping for Olympic tryouts...haha!

Ok...... eat your candy ya little victim...HA! My precious airplane time was corrupted by a certain Jack *kitten* that reclined his chair the WHOLE FLIGHT!!! No way a laptop will open, and I barely had room to eat a sandwich. HA! So... still working on it but promise to deliver soon. Ray

Hey everybody!!! I'll be stateside for a while now, but travel to Nashville in a couple weeks and may try to hit the wild horse saloon for some line dancing again... haha...I am serious too! Leash, good luck and keep on pushing. Ummm keep the 73 to yourself. Julie, take care!!! Ughh, gotta keep the knee's healthy.…

Ughhh... yes I've heard of P90X, and never seem to like AbRibberX, pull-ups, or anything that doesn't go forward.. ugh. Starting another round in a week or so... but better just be a week..hehe. Need to tone up a bit... Checked out the maniac club, maybe I'll try a bronze badge to start. Some really crazy folk in…

Yikes...48, wow, very impressive!!!! 13 for me, including Boston... yipee!!! I've done some 50k ultras, and really like the ultra scene personally, and still have a big goal unmet to do some 50-milers too, not sure when. All that is just stuff [who cares], but the thing I am MOST proud of... no injuries :drinker: :drinker:…

Thanks.... 56 should be fine, and you can easily make adjustments with a different stem and fore/aft adjustment in the saddle, no worries on size. Wheels, flip the bike upside down and give the wheel a gently roll, and make sure the wheels roll super smooth, and a loooooong time. You are checking the hubs and bearings, it…

Good luck. Trek HiLo is there "starter" tri bike and $600 would be a good deal if everything is in good order. Personally I would check the wheels/rims mostly, as the shifters and other mechanicals should be durable. It will be a stiff ride with AL chassis, but that's everything in that price point. Fit is tricky too, so…

you don't giggle when someone says fartlek.

Sure, why not. I fit an "avid" or "experienced" category for sure, and can help in many ways and answer many questions. I am focusing more on running now [since Sunday actually], but will still work in some bike workouts because, well, I just love to ride my bicycle. I am mostly a road bike/cyclocross rider, and usually…

hey, what are you doing wth my pants..... surely they are not yours! Amazing.....WTG!

WOW, I could write a book about this. Which has chapters including what to do, and what not to do... HA. So, I am a seasoned traveler, domestic, global, local..... well, everywhere. For me... Where to STAY..and select places you can run, walk, workout, etc... Some "non-traditional" things that work well are to run or climb…

Ended up with a fairly fast 43 tonight, wanted 60 but caught a group ride and just decided to ride with them. Weather was perfect too, great day for a ride. I do about 1/2 road rides and 1/2 cyclocross on gravel roads. Gravel adventure racing is a new cult in cycling now, it's a great way to see the countryside. Let's keep…

Thanks Sarah, I guess it's not necessarily included in the marathon club either. I love the different perspectives on this, I have always wondered. I can only account for myself, but my head is usually got a few bolts and shorted wires in it.

Yes, "runners high" is a weird topic and the magic endorphins are mysterious indeed. I do run a lot, and experience this all the time. For me it takes at least 30 minutes to get into a zone when everything works, then I just daydream and clear the mind. I don't really think about lungs, legs, or running, but my mind is…

Count me in!!! As I sing the Queen classic "bicycle, bicycle, bicycle... I want to ride my bicycle...." ya, you know it. I have a stable full of bikes and legs full of scars, and just LOVE it. Let's get a thread rolling!!! About me.... I am 38 and have been cycling for 15 years and it is my sanity check. I am planning a…

I second Jeffreyhansen post, that there is no substitute for outside riding. I understand city folk may not have easy access to good roads or trails, but if you do I highly recommend some fresh air. Riding in a group usually stretches you more than the spin instructor too. I will take my spin addicts out on a ride and they…

Numb hands -> Try Ergon grips. Worth every cent +7 that biking is GREAT for overall fitness, but that means some heavy breathing and working the pedals. Don't underestimate the workout for shoulders and arms too, especially on long rides. FWIW… I do have a Garmin Edge 605 bike GPS and it is wonderful for tracking workouts…

Manties, this is hilarious. On the long runs, or really hot runs, I wear speedo's as my manties. They have just enough support and wick moisture fairly well. I'm not one for alot of bounce in my routine.

I give +1 to comments on shows or DVD's. Of course it is a mental game and not all master that. I rent action/suspense movies and get my head totally in another world. Sometimes I break it into 2 workouts, which gives me a good reason to finish the movie the next day. Other times, either by plan or the movie is good, I…

Everyone's got a clipless pedal story, they all end on the ground, and they are all funny    I do encourage a helmet too. I did actually use (not just wear) one last year. It's great to have ONLY major flesh wounds after a crash. Of course, pulling gravel and dirt out of a leg, hip, and shoulder was a…

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I do plan to hit the Palace, Westminster, etc.... The bus tour sounds great too. I am such a tourist, and not afraid to walk all day. I plan wake up, and head somewhere, and not stop till late. Any advice on a great pub or restaurant. I'll be alone, so a place where I won't look out of…

Bikers are cool!! +2 for the Trek fan club, and just working in my new Gary Fisher Erwin which isn't really a road, or mountain bike... but more of a tweener. Great ride!!! I've been biking for years, and years, and years, and years and never stop loving it. 100 mile gravel race this weekend...woohoo!

+1 That's the right answer. 1) It's very common. In fact, hang around a marathon finish line and you'll see plenty of them just bloody. 2) Not sure it was clear, but it's all about friction of your shirt, wet, and rubbing the nips. 3) Dress cool. The main problem is too much moisture so if you manage that, then friction is…

I lost 50 lbs running and it was plenty for me. Adding some strength will always help too. Running takes the 'work' out of workout and gives you something that is fun, healthy, and just makes you feel good.... and thin. Keep it up! Raymond

Running is a great lifetime challenge. I've been running 15 years with literally 30+ marathons, ultra's, tri's, etc....all without a single injury. 1) Start slow and build your running steady and over time. Rushing quickly into races and straining the body can easily lead to injuries. 2) Listen to your body, and adapt. Be…

Here are some great tips that have helped me out. 1) Ride with the best you can, and learn all you can from them. Play dumb, and ask all the dumb questions. 2) Keeping the ego in the pocket and lead with hard work and a willingness to suffer 3) Be patient, because it takes years to get strong cycling legs (but they do…

I love cycling I am sorta a junkie about cycling so feel free to ask any questions. I've been riding for 15 years and know the equipment, brands, hype, and most importanly what really works. I don't check boards that often so feel free to send me a mail on MFP. Get those wheels out and roll. Raymond
