Half a pound a week is a good steady number for your amount of targeted weight loss. Don't rush it. You'll keep it off longer if you go slow. Oh, and if you feel that you aren't losing fast enough, don't eat all of your exercise calories back. The calories "you earn" are just an estimate so be careful of those calories. If…

What about keeping fruit around that you can snack on (of course, it should be low cal fruit)? I mean, could you even eat 1500 cals worth of kiwi fruit or grapefruit?

Their Brioche buns were really super good. I had made a crockpot roast beef with aus jus and these were just the thing to put the meat into. Delish! There is just so much good stuff there, you can't even name them all. :D

Eat more white meat chicken and seafood and you can stay within your saturated fats. However, if you've stayed within your caloric range, this shouldn't be an issue. I ate 6 eggs a day in the beginning and went way over in fats, but as long as I stayed under in calories I lost. Fat will only cause a problem if there is a…

I subbed a banana for blueberries. It had way less calories for the same weight and dropped my blood sugar slower (my hunger signals are way dependent upon my carb intake esp. in the morning). I also added those greens into the smoothie because it was just how I got enough of my veggies in for the day.

They have great humongous frozen fruit bags. They last a lifetime (if only one person does the smoothies). I think one bag of strawberries lasted a month for me alone.

Start weight training into your weekly workout (swap out at least 2 days of your cardio for weight training).

Calories contribute to weight loss/gain. The macro balance will be a factor in determining where that loss/gain comes from (i.e. water, muscles, fat, etc.). The food you eat (carbs, fats, or protein) break down to individual components in your body so that it can utilize the building blocks the best it knows how. Without…

On the computer, you can just click on the red minus sign to the right of your food. The apps are even easier (on Apple), just swipe to the left and there is the delete button. On droids, click the pencil in the upper right hand corner (the edit button) and then select what you want to delete, and then click the picture of…

Ever try horse radish and wasabi? Gotta go big! :D Good luck and feel better!

Try spicy foods. This will wake your sinuses up for sure and maybe help you breathe a little.

Do you have any medical conditions? Your food is high in carbs and not much protein. PCOS, diabetes (or prediabetes), or insulin resistance will make it very difficult to lose weight on a carb high diet.
-
Strictly speaking, no there isn't more to it. Medical conditions change the effectiveness of CICO (you may have to play with other variables to be more effective), and exercise helps the look of your body (otherwise, you become a skinny fat person). Bottom line, it is as easy as that.

If it is something that you need to do to maintain weight, why is it a bad thing? It is a tool in your toolbox. That's all. If you start to gain, then start MFP again to tighten up the logging. If you successfully maintain, noone can fault what works for you.

+1

If you use MFP's exercise calories, don't eat them all back. They are notorious for overestimating what the calorie count was. If you use a heart rate monitor that syncs up or a pedometer, then the rule of them is eat some but not all of them back. These are also estimates of burns with some error margin. Some say to eat…

Your body will decide where it loses the fat. So you may want it gone from your midsection, but it may actually be coming off of your arms, legs, or chest area instead.
-
Absolutely! And I agree with above, ANY progress is good progress. Keep going in this direction and you'll be at goal in no time!

I'm prediabetic and when I started to go with cutting carbs, I shot for 35% carbs (just to start weening myself off of them), 30%fats, and 35% protein. Now I'm down to trying 30% carbs and 35% fats/35% protein. The first week or two is the hardest. Concentrate on hitting or going over your protein number and you will find…

Do some squats to keep your booty while cutting down elsewhere on your legs. Make sure to concentrate on squeezing the glutes and you won't ever lose the booty. Eating at a deficit will still be key but squats (weighted especially) will give you a round butt with some muscle building on the legs.

Provided you only have 11 lbs to lose, you should set it to a lower rate than 1-2 lbs. You should set it to a 0.5lb/week loss. It took me a year to drop from 38% to 28%. Dropped another 4% since end of last July (so seven months) and it only equated to 12lbs. I weighed 162 at 38% bf and 155 at 28% bf. Things don't always…

All psych meds change body and brain chemistry. The reason these meds will "make you gain weight" is because they will make your body react like you are insulin resistant. Thus, the hunger all the time is ever present. Look into a diabetic diet or insulin resistance diets. Lowering your intake of carbs will help you…

Maybe start weighing in on a monthly schedule (two weeks after or before TOM)? Use the tape measure weekly and then just weigh in once a month. I totally agree with everyone else, you should be ecstatic about the loss of inches! :D But I know, it can play tricks with your mind and morale. Just know that you are getting…

Your first couple of weeks are going to be your largest losses. If you keep losing this quickly, I'd say stick with it for as long as you can before the dreaded "plateau". You shouldn't be too worried, as long as you feel full, you're getting enough vitamins, and you're hitting your macros for proteins and fats. If you are…

A pound and a half could be a large poop combined with water retention. Nothing to worry about. As long as your measurements are going down, you should celebrate! :D
-
Same here. I find that I'm actually hungrier if I don't eat enough protein so end up going way over calorie goal vs. eating under because I'm so full on protein all day. But I'm prediabetic and the carbs just spike my blood sugars, so this helps on all sides.

I was told to try eating with your left hand (not with the chopsticks though, that would be a double whammy). This really makes you concentrate on the eating. Also, I have done the drinking lots of water before a meal (about a full glass). If you like to drink during, that is good as well because you have to take that time…

If you've found that eating the carbs makes you want more carbs and sweets, this would translate into the easily going over calories category. I'd reduce the number of carbs to make sure you're not falling into the viscous cycle of binging on your carbs because you ate carbs. It is all about the calories that you've gotten…

Gall bladders affect the way we digest fat. If you had it removed, you should probably go to a registered dietician to see how you should adjust things in your diet. You'll probably need to go with a lower fat diet and only good fats (no saturated fats, or transfats, etc.) from nuts or avocados. You need to go to the RD to…

+1 on the sodium issue. I can gain 5 lbs of water on 1 bad day of sodium (like one extra bite of soft pretzel with salt on it) and it takes a good 3-4 days to slowly lose it back while drinking lots of extra water. Have you also started a new workout routine? This will also make you hold on to some extra water. Two lbs. in…
