  • Could be the bike riding...
  • OHP is my least favorite...it just feels awkward. Although maybe I'm still angry at it because I'm pretty sure this is how I managed to hurt my wrist in the first place. I have done the other lifts for so long that they just feel natural.
  • My husband is an *kitten* man no doubt...although the grabbiness can get annoying. We may be the only family in the world where a pat on the butt is an expected show of affection. Can't wait to get THAT phone call from my son's first grade teacher! I had PT yesterday. I have officially been moved from mobility to…
  • Mike, hey Mike,Mikey,Mike...do you know what day it is? :drinker: I love this! I have a student named Mike I do this to every Wednesday. Never gets old (although it may for him, but really, as long as I'm happy...)!!
  • If your PT is not willing to evaluate form then ask for another person to help you. Often PTs who work primarily with women don't bother learning good form on free weight lifts because *most* women are content to use small hand weights and machines (of course most women don't know what they are missing!). She may not know…
  • @ viglet: I give my kids protein powder...Whey is a byproduct of milk. We make "milkshakes" all the time. @ Steph: Your pictures posted on the Halp, lifting made me bulky thread are awesome! Your *kitten* is looking esp lovely. STILL not able to lift, BUT, the PT said next week we would go from mobility to strength…
  • Look at that *kitten*! Wooohooo!
  • I have a lead that allows me to hook the dog collars together so that they have to walk abreast, but I never tried more than 2 (a shepherd and rottie mix: 175 pounds together). Maybe if you could hook two together and use a separate leash for the third? Good luck!
  • I am presently lurking as a lifter until I get the all go from my PT for tendonitis...I am a mom of a 7 yo boy and a 5 yo girl. I also act as mom to over 100 teenagers at work (teach highschool). Am swimming and walking as I wait to heal... @lwoodruff I called mine parasites not sprogs, but I also teach life science.…
  • Ummm...so although I enjoy the snarky comments, in this case they aren't helpful in solving your problem. My husband doesn't want me to lift, and I have lifted for LOONNNGGGG before I met him. We do not workout together unless we are cross training, and he actually comes to me for advice on weightlifting. For a long time I…
  • Two of my favorite things: cookies and power lifting! You go sister! :drinker: And share those whoopee pies!
  • I am more amazed by the number of people who just announced to the MFP population exactly where they keep their guns. I have one, but no night stand... If you get past my 90 pounds rottie you are welcome to look...and you better pray you are right!
  • About 6 weeks...I started showing actual muscle definition. I showed strength gains almost immediately and pretty continuously. I kept at it until I injured myself, and I am currently seeing a PT for tendonitis. I have lifted since high school (am 39), and I kept lifting because frankly lifting heavy things feels like…
  • It makes me sad you have to ask...give YOURSELF permission, don't ask for it from others. If you love to dance then it will be good for you. And screw what other people think.
  • I saw you on the Internet...eating ice cream... I'm only here because of the magically qualities of ice cream. It calls to me on quiet nights..."eat meeeeeeeeee....eat meeeeeeeee" Or is that my husband? either way...dessert!:drinker:
  • Last year when sandy hit, my husband went to work (he's an RN), and I hand bailed our sump pump all day...at least we were able to use the wood stove to heat the house and it didn't flood out into the whole basement, just around the pump (I didn't realize that our drain tiles were full, so as soon as I dumped the water…
  • ^^^^^^ THIS! Minus the veggies and add sushi, miso soup and chocolate. Ohhh and a side of never ending tears...
  • Break through bleeding ANYTIME you change diet or exercise on the pill is common...it can also happen in times of extreme stress.
  • Thanks for the happy thoughts for healing ladies...I'm back to lurking and living vicariously through your lifting!
  • The only thing worse than getting your hair caught under the bar squatting is getting it caught up in the shot-put you are throwing! Or if you are exceptionally blessed getting it caught in the car window while you are driving (yes, I really am this clumsy). :blushing:
  • Before I had children I could do 3 pull-ups, and I weighed 170 pounds...I sometimes miss that woman! lol. Congrats on your HUGE accomplishment!
  • Thursday I had an appt with a Physical Therapist. She wants me to rest my wrist for another 4 weeks before I even think of lifting. I have some small exercises to do, ad compression sleeve to wear to keep the swelling down, and I have to ice, and heat the area twice a day...oh and massage it twice a day. She did say "I…
  • EVERYTHING aside...once you are capable of decisions, it is time to move on. Some people take longer than others to lose our learned behavior. Some people never relearn their behavior...some of us make excuses for our behavior...the end result is always the same. If you don't change and learn you won't grow.
  • Check the gender of the OP!
  • Happy New Year! I have my first PT session this week to see if I can get rid of my wrist pain. I haven't lifted since early November and am anxious to get back to something other than walking...
  • As a bigger woman she has to be stronger...otherwise she wouldn't be able to get off the toilet. How much would that suck? Joking aside though: It is easier to squat more if you are higher than parallel. Regardless of her knee issues, she should use good form or risk poor muscle development. I have knee issues and…
  • Doctor has me in an immobilizer and no lifting for the next week. If the pain decreases then she says we can discuss some activity. I am very unhappy. I can't do yoga either.
  • So sorry for your loss. A year ago I completed Insanity and was running 7 miles at a time. Then life got in the way. I am highly frustrated with my injuries. Perhaps I will deload and lift lightly. I think it was OHP that flared my wrist.
  • :frown: Not lifting for a while...tendonitis in right wrist/ forearm and both ankles is really slowing me down. I will lurk in the background and live vicariously
