Well I'm on day 3 of mine, ate over 2 days this week by 500-700 calories and lost 1.5 pounds. It's not an 'excuse' to eat more (at least not for me), it's just how some of us (apparently) are wired. I'm not going to walk around for 2 days light headed and with a stomach grumbling in hunger because I'm too scared to eat a…

I weight most days, more as a mental anchor than anything. I don't get hung up on the number, I just like to wake up and use it as a reminder of what I'm working towards. But I also travel about 50% of the year for work, and I pretty much never step on a scale when I'm on the road so I'm not obsessed with it. I record my…

I'm another one that just cannot get full for about the first two days. I feel like I could eat all the things. I don't really craves sweets (which is weird, because I love them). I crave red meat and bread. Give me a big fat juicy steak and some bread and butter and I'm happy. Or I might trade my house for a thick…

Did you have MFP set to lose 2 pounds per week? 1200 seems very low to me for your height / weight. With only 20 or so pounds to lose, I would adjust it to lose .5 or 1 pound a week. (or switch to TDEE as you mentioned!) Good luck! I'm 5'6.5" with 30-40 to lose, and I'm losing steadily on 1500 calories PLUS eating back at…

100% agree. I made every excuse I could for the past several years. I quit making excuses a few months ago. Amazingly, I now exercise 4-6x a week. I don't always want to, and I don't always love it. But I've never regretted a single workout when I was done with it.

I'd say 2000 easy if it's deep fried (What the heck is deep fried pizza, anyway?!?) I looked at a frozen grocery store pizza this weekend - thin crust, pepperoni. 16" I think. The whole pizza was around 2,300 calories! Yours looks fresh and fabulous! :)

Knitting/sewing. Who knew it was so strenuous?

Do you have a food scale? That's the most accurate way to figure out the calories for a few nuts - look at the # of grams you eat vs. the # of grams in a serving size on the package. If you have 14 grams and 28 grams is a serving size, then put in the NI for 1 serving, and then enter that you ate 1/2 of 1 serving. For…

I'm one of those people. WW member for years. Needed a shake-up in routine (more mental than anything, I know) and was tired of paying $45 a month, so I joined MFP and got a FitBit, just like the article mentions. I DID enjoy the meetings, and I think they are great for a lot of people. My personal plan is to get within…

I'll be happy to share! I was a 38D when I started. I'm a 36DD now, 28 pounds later. :noway: (My b00bs haven't gotten bigger, but the difference between my b00bs and the area under is bigger, so my cup size went up!) I'd love to be a solid B, but it's looking like they are here to stay... I want to wear cute cami bra tops…

That's awesome - such an amazing feeling! :)

I agree completely. I also wear my FitBit, and let it adjust my calories accordingly (positive OR negative some days!) It means I don't need to worry about logging shopping or any other mundane chore, but if I do shop for 8 hours and walk 5 miles doing it, I'll earn some extra. YES, I shopped before I started losing…

2 weeks is not a plateau. It's just frustrating. :)

Yes and no. It is dependent on a variety of factors such as access to a variety of stores, willingness / able to shop at multiple locations, willing to devote the time to studying sales flyers, meal planning, etc. It also depends on your version of 'healthy.' Some people think that has to be all organic and/or whole grain.…

I'm challenging myself to spend $200 on food this month. I pulled the $$ out in cash, and I'm going to try it! (I will be out of town for 5 days for work, so that helps). I have a lot of meat in the freezer and staples in the pantry. Want to make more space, so it's time to challenge myself! That should leave most of that…

I agree - if you're not losing inches or weight, you're likely gaining due to overeating calories. If you're getting more 'jiggly' it's likely not because you're putting on muscle 'too fast.'

See! I knew there was a reason I lose slow. Finally somebody has validated my theory!

Maybe, but it's not always exact. The fact that you're 18 certainly works in your favor. It is partially genetic - some people still have a belly even at a perfect body weight / body fat percentage because of the way they are built. But in most cases, yes, it's possible.

I don't think just starting a weight loss plan should have an effect. At least in my experience it never has. It certainly can for serious athletes or for those who have lost a massive amount of weight to the point of not being healthy. I'd also advise a pregnancy test if that's a possibility. (I mean, assuming you're more…

I know everybody says that protein fills you up, but protein without carbs or fat has the complete opposite effect on me. I'm usually hungry again within an hour. I wonder if you're experiencing the same since chicken and broccoli is pretty low in fat / carbs. For example, this past weekend I was trying to clean out my…

Why not just cook what you like to eat and take the leftovers for lunch or eat them for dinner the next night? I live alone, so all of my meals are for one. I just find recipes that sound good, and cut them in 1/2 if they make more than 4 servings. Means that I have to cook fewer meals later. I probably eat a frozen meal 2…

I"m not sure how you classify 'really overweight.' If 30 pounds qualifies, then I own it. But those spin class and zumba numbers would be VERY low for me. If I'm going to haul my butt to the gym it's so I can sweat my butt off for 60 minutes, and I wouldn't do it for a 300 calorie burn. My FT4 gives me anywhere from…

Seriously not something I've ever even thought about because it just wouldn't be pretty. I do it at home, but I live alone. But if I got to the point where I could and look good doing it? I'd have to do it at least once at the gym, just for the thrill of it. Even a tight fitted tank would be fun!

I just finished week 2 and I agree with this. (I did Insanity month 1 before T25). Following the T25 schedule (and tracking all of my calories), I've lost 4 pounds in the first 2 weeks. May not be a lot to some, but it's good for me. I was already eating well and doing Insanity before T25, so this shouldn't be that…

Oh great. Way to rain on the parade!

I do struggle with some of the calorie burns that I see. I have a friend who logged over 500 calories for knitting/sewing the other day. That just seems so off to me - especially if you eat your exercise calories back. And she's routinely logging over 1,000 calories/day in gardening. I have no question that she's doing a…

I didn't "imply" anything. I was pretty clear several times that you can eat at a deficit and lose weight, and that my parent's unhealthy eating was a CONTRIBUTING factor, which would imply there were other factors. Obviously they weren't eating at a calorie deficit, and MY OPINION is that MOST (not all) people eating a…

I'm sorry that you're having such a reading comprehension problem. I never once said eating fast food is the only reason for my parents' health problems. A 'contributing factor' indicates that there is likely other contributing factors as well. Of course one can get far eating home cooking. I didn't say that they couldn't.…

Where did I say anything about them eating a normal balance diet?!? It wasn't possible for them to over consume home cooked food because they didn't cook much. It's sort of a logical conclusion for MY parents. YMMV. I had Burger King for dinner. I'm not saying that you can't have fast food ever. I'm saying that it's a…

I just finished week 2 and I'm down 5 pounds. (1.5 the first week, 2.5 the second week). I am eating 1500-1600 calories/day on most days (I try to eat a minimum of 1500. Today it was 2,200 but I'm at a deficit for the week). Of course the eating part is just as important, but I LOVE this workout so far. It's so nice to do…
