  • I quit 6 years ago using Chantix. Best decision I've EVER made. It was much easier than I anticipated it to be. I was very ready to quit, so I'm sure that was the key. I actually only took the Chantix for 2 weeks, and I've never had the desire to smoke since then. I actually barely even remember being a smoker, which seems…
  • No cleanse necessary. Drink water. Eat healthier foods. But yes, I agree, I would be more concerned about what caused you to binge for a week. I don't think 7 pop tarts in a day is from PMS cravings!? Did you have a variety pack or did you go buy 5 different boxes of poptarts for the week? That would be the first thing I…
  • I generally just say "the old fashioned way - eat less, move my *kitten* more. Made it a lifestyle change rather than a diet." Boring, slow, but it works.
  • Steak or hamburger Salty potato chips Not necessarily chocolate for me. But I absolutely cannot get full for my first 2 days. I'm like a bottomless pit. :( I started yesterday and I'm about 1500 over my calories goal in those 2 days. I could go finish off a bag of chips right now if I would let myself. Thankfully my…
  • 16243 * .75 (for 25% though 20% may be better unless you're in the high 30s (or higher) of BMI This gives you the reduced weekly calorie target of TDEE-25% of = 12182 12182 / 7 = 1740 calories per day... no eating back. ****************************** Ok, ok. No, my BMI is just under 30. I'll do 20% instead of 25%. :) So…
  • Thanks so much! I'm traveling today but I will focus and read this tonight when I get home. I get so overwhelmed by all the numbers, but calculations like you provided make sense to me. So thank you! :)
  • But what if 25% off my TDEE is less than my BMR? Is it ok to eat under your BMR? I workout 5-6 times a week. Usually 3 days of Insanity, 2-3 days of something else like Zumba, Rockin' Body, etc. I take at least 1 day off for rest, sometimes 2. When I'm not traveling for work, I have a desk job with little movement. When I…
  • I didn't either. I manually adjusted my calories b/c I think MFP was too low, and it now says I should lose 1.3 a week. I'm ok with that #. I'd like for it to consistently happen, but I'm good with it. Slow and steady lifestyle changes are more practical to me.
  • I pre-track most things. When I make my dinner on Monday night, I usually pack up my lunch for Tuesday and sometimes have leftovers for Tuesday dinner. If I already know that's what I'm going to do, I would go ahead and log Tuesday's lunch and dinner on Monday when I'm cooking. If I'm going out to eat, I always pre-track.…
  • Note: I am no longer only eating 1,200 calories a day, but I'm answering the answer posed, because that is where I started! Also noted, this is only my second week on MFP. 1. I transferred to MFP from Weight Watchers. When I did the math on how many points I was eating, it was 1190 per day. So in my head, 1200 seemed…
  • I grew up in a small town with an Aldi, and it wasn't a nice store at all. But the new stores they are building around me are GREAT! I do a lot of my shopping there. Yesterday I bought a bag of the frozen pretzel rolls. (Lean ham & reduced fat swiss cheese on a pretzel roll under the broiler is awesome!) Anyway, I used the…
  • I weigh myself daily if I'm in town. I only record on Tuesday morning (or Wednesday if I'm not home on Tuesday). I like to see the fluctuations so that if I'm up Tuesday but was down the rest of the week, I don't worry about it. This week I've been trending up ALL week though, so I'm not excited about weigh in. I did have…
  • Neither the original or grilled chicken sandwich come with mayo, so you don't even have to special order it! :) I usually get the grilled chicken sandwich combo with fruit and diet lemonade. I use a bit of the honey BBQ sauce they usually put in the bag with the grilled chicken. You can also order an adult grilled chicken…

  • Dried dates do nothing for me. But Medjool dates are AWESOME. They are REALLY good in oatmeal with chopped medjool dates and cinnamon. I make my oatmeal with almond milk instead of water for a creamier texture. Very good comfort food, but also healthy.

  • No, an Olympic athlete would probably weigh more because they have more muscle. They would also EAT more. A lot more. They may or may not fit into the BMI chart because of their muscle, but they are in peak physical condition, so they don't need to worry about fitting into a chart. That's about 1% of the world's…
  • Do you not want them to be suspicious if you are on a diet because you don't need to be on a diet? Eat until you're satisfied. Not until you're 'stuffed.' Eat slower so your stomach has time to register to your brain that you aren't hungry anymore. Sometimes that may be 10 ounces, sometimes it may be 4 ounces.
  • 4 weeks / 4 pounds = 1 pound a week. Sounds like it's working. Maybe not as fast as you were hoping, but I probably would not (personally) up my calories if I was losing a pound a week.
  • Maybe that's plain and simple FOR YOU. As a long term Weight Watchers member, they advocate 6, 8-ounce glasses of liquids a day, and say that water is the best choice. But water, tea, coffee, etc. all count as a liquid, so that's how I track it. I don't add diet sodas but that's personal choice - it's still a liquid and I…
  • I cannot speak to sodium. These are probably all sucky choices for that :) ____________________________________ I got the Chipotle Chicken Bowl last night for the first time since I have been tracking on MFP. Holy good gracious on the sodium when I tracked it. I got all 3 salsas - the pico / corn / hot red salsa because…
  • I had the same problem for a time. I was eating more calories, but almost all fat free stuff and wasn't getting enough fats and it made my hair loss increase much more than normal, and it wasn't shiny and healthy looking. Once I added fats back it got much better.
  • I completely understand being frustrated to see no movement after 2 weeks after eating better than you were 3 weeks ago. It's not a magic formula, but I understand the frustration. Like others, I looked at your diary from the last week. I would agree with what's been said. Your sodium is pretty high, so perhaps you're…
  • If you feel 'slightly like an outsider' now, try saying something to your colleagues, uninvited, about their eating habits. It's just not your place, unless they want advice. That birthday meal sounds indulgent and yummy to me. I finished last week with a big enough deficit I could have eaten that meal and still lost…
  • I swear sometimes our body just needs to feel something different. I'm not say it's scientifically proven, just that I've found it in my own personal journey when I've gotten 'stuck.' Have you been doing the same 6x/week cardio and weight routine for a while? Maybe just try something new - a new workout, 4 days of cardio,…
  • I agree with this. At 5'8" and 137 pounds, you are classfied as underweight. And a normal, healthy guy should never be eating 1,000 calories a day. There can be no logical reason (barring any sort of medical condition) for you to eat less than 1,200 a day - and even that's crazy low for a 5'8" male.

  • Advocare Rehydrate after my morning workout 1/2 cup of cottage cheese and fresh blueberries about 10 am
  • Hello from another person who just gave up WW this past week, so I understand your WW language :) I just went and converted KGs to Pounds, and our stats are pretty similar. I am 5'6.5" and started at 216. Question regarding your post above: When you're not exercising, do you have a desk job or are you pretty active in your…
  • I lost interest when I saw that it was a 'study' of ONE woman who didn't go to a dentist for even a routine cleaning for 20 years.
  • Your goal weight? For 5'9" that would make you UNDERweight. 129 is the standard lowest weight for your height.
  • I'm so glad it's that simple for YOU. Some of us travel for work so eating at home isn't always possible.
  • 3.4 pounds after a week of debauchery sounds pretty normal to me. But unless you ate an extra 11,900 calories, it's not 'real' weight. You're probably retaining water. Eat healthy, drink water, check back in a week. ETA:Just saw it was 2 days, not even a week. So that would be almost 6,000 EXTRA calories a day. If you…
