• Maybe when your guest is there you can go to another room and do a quiet workout using YouTube or an app on your phone with earbuds. Something with movements like standing abs, or yoga.
• Today I tried the protein drink with frozen fruit to make a frozen treat and it was great! I used Chocolate flavored Premier Protein drink with a cup of frozen blueberries. I'll definitely do it again. Filled me up and was a nice treat.
• The crocheted face mask...........hmmm...
• I'm on week number three working from home and I've never worked out at home before. I've always liked my exercise away from home; biking, running, going to the gym. Now it's definitely and effort. At first I was running during the warm part of the day (Spring here) but it became so crowded with other people (who would not…
• I have this same problem with my elderly parents (late 70's) and mother in law (mid 80's). My husband and I ran the neighborhood yesterday and his mom was outside being lead by the arm by her neighbor back to her house. Seems she had to go visit them to take their mail instead of putting it back in the box. We couldn't get…
• Every time I stop tracking my food my weight goes up a few pounds. I'm hoping to stay on top of it this time around. Doing weights after work tonight. I'm actually looking forward to it.
• Hello everyone! I'm 55 and this time of year it's hard for me to stay motivated. I love the outdoors but our East Tennessee weather has been crazy. Rain constantly then snow then rain some more and by the time the weekend gets here everything is soaked. This time of year I depend on my gym for spin class, swimming and…
• ^Ditto on this. I'm actually contemplating buying a few more pairs of leggings because of this:)
• I'm constantly amused at the people that don't know to walk/run/meander to the right side of the trail. It's like they want to play a game of chicken.
• Everyday is coffee with a splash of cream. I like routine Monday through Friday so that is overnight oats with soy milk and blueberries, natural peanut butter on Ezekiel bread, two pieces of fruit, lean protein and veggies. I'm not so routine on Saturday and Sunday :)
• My husband and I watched this documentary also and now we are trying to switch over to a vegan lifestyle. We are triathletes also and thought if we could make the switch during the winter (our off season) then maybe we will have the knowledge come spring on how to fuel for training. I love changes and hope this helps with…
• 54 here and am desperately seeking menopause...lol. Started lifting a few months ago in hopes of stopping things from sliding :D
• We have a large cubicle with workout equipment in it one floor up from mine. It's not much but a few weights, elliptical, stationary bike, and a few rollers. Just this past Monday I realized it was up there...duh. So now around 2 pm each day I disappear up there and do a light (no sweaty) workout for about 15 min. Oh, it's…
• I workout in the evening so it helps that I'm already out and about from work. I also have a dry ease calendar on my fridge where I write down what my workout is for each day of the week. Sometimes I do this for the whole month. It helps a lot to see it in writing each time I go into the kitchen. Also, my workout partner…
• I'm 54 and guess I'm looking at late onset menopause :( I took the pill until I was 50 and thought I would go straight to "no periods".......I was wrong. I'm so punctual that it's scary. Oh well, maybe next year..lol.
• Is there a workout facility you can go to and do light weights or some other kind of activity that doesn't affect your injury? If so, that's a good place to start with filling up your time and taking your mind off Halloween candy. I agree with getting rid of the candy. Give it to neighbors or trash it, I bring mine to work…
• When I'm training for a big triathlon I usually train five days a week with one day of rest. In the off season I like to lift in the gym three days a week. Nothing big just circuits and machines.
• I have the 920xt and love it. It is big but I need that so I can read the numbers :)
• I mix it up with one week being soup (taco, chicken, veggie), the next week being a sandwich (peanut butter, tuna), maybe the next week roast beef or chicken from the crock pot. I always pair it with some type of fruit. I try to keep my lunch meals simple.
• Are you weighing yourself at the same time each time? (Example: each morning at 6 am naked) Have you started any new medications? Some meds can cause initial weight gain? Are you stressed at work?
• OP do you mean added sugars? I'm really trying to watch added sugars. Like recently I've switched to plain Greek yogurt that has no added sugars and I add my own fruit for flavor.
• Lots of good advice here. Do start small and build up to longer distance races. Oh, and you will get addicted:)
• I do 1200 - 1350 and can maintain it if I cook most of my meals at home. During the weekdays it's easier for me to maintain because I meal plan. I like cooking a meat (beef/turkey/chicken) in the crock pot or grill it and then add a side of veggie and/or rice. I'm pretty active so I do eat most of my workout calories back.…
• I did a bike/run this past Saturday. Rode to the fire tower on some single track then gravel road. Then did a run on the gravel road. Felt good, I'm hoping to up the adventure to run single track next weekend.
• I've done a couple on-road dus... I wish there were off-roads near me. That would be a great event! But I can definitely see the second run being, uh, problematic. Consider doing bike/runs rather than run/bikes. Or in addition to.
Thanks! A bike/run is a great idea! I'll try that this weekend. Now I'm pumped :)
• I'm trying to get up the energy to do a trail run/bike/run. I'm wanting to do another off road duathlon. I did one last year and I get so tired from the ride that the second run kills me and I become "lazy footed". I've been doing the run/bike for the past few weeks hoping to add the second run soon. I'm thinking of…
• As long as I remember to stop and enjoy it, yes. If I try to enjoy it while running, I usually end up face down in the dirt. Stupid roots...
I have done more damage to myself running (body slamming) than I ever did mtbing. Ditto on the stupid roots!
• If I'm doing cardio I like my upbeat music for motivation but for lifting I can take it or leave it... but definitely at a lower volume :)
• Triathlete here :) I've only done road tris but I'm hoping to do a few local Xterra races next year. I love all things tri (okay I tolerate swimming...lol). Since my last tri was in May I've jumped into more mtbing and trail running.
• Breakfast: Coffee with cream Lunch: Turkey/Cheese on whole wheat, bell peppers (for the crunch), apple slices Dinner: London Broil roast in beef broth, rice on the side with a dash of Soy sauce, watermelon Snacks: Protein bar
