I have to be the only person in the world that really hates Quest bars. Bleh. I prefer the Trader Joes Power Crunch protein bars. I don't have them that often, they are a snack for me, but the few times I had Quest it was just....nasty. They have (for me at least) an unbearable aftertaste. Then again, my sense of taste has…

As others have said, I eat mostly by schedule. I don't get hungry, so if I don't follow a schedule it would be really easy to 'forget' to eat. I've done that on more than one occasion, and it's not ended up pretty. There are one or two times I've gotten 'hungry' (smelling something damned tasty), but I mostly consider…

Amazing accomplishment. I too am just after hitting the 100lb-post-surgery mark (January 27 was my surgery). In the last 1.5 years, it's an overall total for me of 140lbs. This is a complete and total lifestyle change, as you have mentioned. Whilst it can be frustrating at times, the benefits by far outweigh (no pun…

The emotional stress of it all. You know, the part where you'd normally go grocery shopping and pick up a few things. No plans for dinner? Scrounging is great. You didn't have to really think about what you're doing. Each and every day will become a planned adventure. Your trips to the grocery store? You'll be cautiously…

There are ups and downs as everyone has said. Too many variables. I've lost ~80lb since January. A lot of big drops, a lot of stalls, and a lot of 'it comes off as it comes off'.

I had my surgery on 1/27. Since then, I've lost a total of 75lbs. There are huge bursts of losing, and then the inevitable period of getting stuck. Mostly my workouts (at this time) consists of a brisk walk. I use my phone to monitor steps/calories burned/whatnot. Some weights (small), but I can see that isn't going to do…

This can vary from carrier to carrier. All plans have some pre-requisite meetings/appointments that need to be kept; some plans say 3 months, others (like myself) said 6 months. So I had my first appointment, it was confirmed that I was definitely a candidate...and had to go back for 6 months, prior to being given a date.…

I went out with a bang. My surgery was on Monday, so Saturday night my husband took me to my favourite restaurant (Restaurant 1833 in Monterey). There is NOTHING ON THIS MENU that is bad. Bacon-cheddar biscuit appetizers, bacon-wrapped pork loin with creamy polenta, and a creme brulee dessert. I had been very good during…

So far, the only one that's truly tolerable is Unjury Chocolate Splendor with Lite Soymilk. I've tried Jay Robb, Isopure, etc, and all (to me) left a very unpleasant aftertaste.

I needed to see this post, badly. I'm at that "OMG what did I DO TO MYSELF" stage, about 1 month post-op. Last night, I couldn't see the forest through the trees, and even this morning I was on the verge of a meltdown. I needed some levity, and to see something positive out of it. Your post gave me that. Thank you for your…

That's true, but the way I look at it is like this: Opinions are like *kitten*. Everybody's got one and everyone thinks everyone else's stinks. My choices are my own, and reasons aside, what anyone else thinks/says/pontificates over how much this 'all could have been avoided' is irrelevant.

One week out from my sleeve on 1/27.

At work, I told everyone...it would have been obvious, for one, after a drastic weight loss. Secondly, well...people talk, and I *did* tell my immediate coworkers. It would have become common knowledge, anyway. I didn't have any shame in getting it done, I was only angry at myself for having it have to come to this. I've…

I also had my surgery (Jan 27th). It was great the first few days....the third I just couldn't even *dream* of 'eating' anything aside from just plain old water. I'm back on the soups/yogurts. I've fallen in love as well with sugar free fudgesicles:) I've been using Unjury Chocolate Speldor shakes (wow...those things are…
