  • I love TRX, I work with a trainer twice a week and we TRX is part of my sessions.
  • You can definately lose weight with PCOS - I've lost about 80lbs over the past 3.5 years. Calories in vs calories out doesn't always apply to ladies with PCOS. I watch my carb and sugar intake. I was also on Metformin for a while to help regulate my insulin. After a while with regular excercise and diet, I stopped the Met…
  • I enjoy! I'm on vacation! But I do make smart decisions. I indulge, but don't over indulge. We also tend to take vacations that involve a lot of hiking or city walking. We are not lounge on the beach or pool vacation types. I'm REALLY looking forward to our trip this fall to Vienna, Prague, and Budapest..... can't wait to…
  • I take 2 rest days usually. One is a full rest day, where I catch up on my regular errands and chores around the house. The 2nd is usually a semi-rest day where I may take a walk around our reservation with my kids or go to a yoga class. I run 5 days a week, and strength train 3 days a week. I will be throwing in tennis…
  • Try Quinoa. It's completely flavorless, but it takes on whatever flavor you cook it with. I like to cook it in a low sodium veggie broth, seasoned with granulated onion, garlic and sometimes tumeric. Eat it hot, or eat it cold. When eating it cold, I like to toss it with some evoo and lemon juice, throw in some chickpeas…
  • Yes! Entirely possible! I went from total couch potato, to an occassional trip to the gym, to running. I didn't use an app, did it at my own pace. Did my first 5k 4 months after deciding I wanted to give running a try. That was 3 years ago. Since then, I've done 2-3 5ks a year, One 10k, and just ran a half marathon this…
  • A vitamin D deficiency can cause fatigue during/after a workout. I went thru a period of time where I could not recover from exhaustion after a workout. I ended up seeing an Endo (for other reasons), and my D levels were in single digits. Once I started on Vitamin D supplements, I no longer had that problem.
  • Treadmill intervals
  • Monday - 4-5 mile run Tues Morn -2-3 mile run, late afternoon circut train with my trainer for 30 min Wed - warm up run on treadmill or eliptical for 30 min followed by a 50 minute boot camp class Thurs - light eliptical followed by 30 min circut training with trainer ( sometimes I'll do an easy run in the morning instead…
  • I ran my first half this past fall and used the Jeff Galloway training app. I was already a runner so I modified his run/walk approach. But thought it was a great training program. My only goal was to finish, did not put any time goals on myself and I actually finished doing my best time. I am not a fast runner, average…
  • I just got the m400 a couple of weeks ago, I have been able to sync it, but when it does sync it's doubling my workouts on MFP. I haven't figured out how to fix that. You need to download the polar flow app I think in order for it to work with MFP.
  • I just did an 8 mile early morning run. I don't eat anything when I run early (I go out at 6:30ish). I will however, have an energy shot (I like the Isagenix e-shots). Depending on whether or not my kids are all over me, I will either do eggs with kale or spinach and a couple of slices of turkey bacon, OR a protein shake…
  • At the finish line of my half marathon....
  • I have a very similar story... overweight my entire life.... did my first 5k 4 years ago, after losing about 30lbs. I was around 180lbs. SLOW time, but finished which was my goal. After a while, had a 10k goal in mind, took me a couple of years to work up the courage to actually do it. Last year, I just decided to find one…
  • Hi, I'm 5'1 and 44 years old Been heavy my entire life but it wasn't until I was somewhere over 200lbs that I decided to take action. So, my starting weight was 200+. I don't know for sure because I avoided the scale. CW 136.7. GW is 135. However my GW is my comfortable weight, but I would eventually like to be at 125-130.…
  • I started with Hal Higdon, but switched to Jeff Galloway. While I didn't follow it exactly, but did make sure I did my long runs on the weekend. I also did not do his run/walk method, but I will tell you, I just ran my first half marathon last weekend, I did not give myself a time limit, my only goal was to finish. Not…
  • You can't go by what MFP says for Calorie burn. Get yourself a heart rate monitor if you can (with a chest strap) so you can get a more accurate reading of calories burned. You are likely not burning the calories you think you are. I started my weight loss journey almost 3 years ago, I've lost 68lbs so far and have another…
  • After my first 20lbs gone, I stopped WW, it just wasn't working for me anymore. While I think it's a great program, it just doesn't work for everyone.
  • I get abnormal (and painful) bloating if I eat anything with corn or soy in it. I can look 6 months pregnant for a week or more before it subsides. Since being diligent about products with corn and soy in them I have not had this problem.
  • anything crunchy salty and fries. How I combat it is, I just don't keep it in my house. My son (4) went shopping with me the other day and wanted "bannana" (plantain chips) BIG MISTAKE....I devoured the entire container in less than 3 days..... My will power when it comes to anything crunchy and salty is non-existent. I…
  • Other "tourist" restaurants family friendly - Ruby Foos Ellens Stardust Diner - over priced, but fun for the kids. Someone recommended BlueFin which is good, but pricey.
  • I'd say treadmill calories are an optimistic estimate. In my experience, there is at least a 100 calorie difference between my HRM reading and the treadmill reading.
  • Metformin only messed up my stomach when I ate carbs.... bread, pasta, etc...... I really had to be careful, I pretty much had to do either no carb or low carb while I was on the Met.
  • my happy weight is 135... my end goal weight is 125.
  • We eat out at least 2x a week. I just make good choices or if we are going somewhere with huge portions, I ask for a take a way box when they bring my food and put 1/2-3/4 of the meal in the box for leftovers at home during the week. My staples that I keep in the fridge and do a bulk cook on Sunday are: Shredded chicken -…
  • My "size" is deceiving.... I am 5'1", weight 150lbs and I am a loose size 8. I have some pants that are a 6 that fit perfectly and comfortable. I have another 25lbs to my goal weight. With that said when I was 18 and the same weight I am now (I'm 20+ years older now!), I was in a snug 14. So either the manufacturers…
  • I use a HRM, but I find that my calories burned generally equal the distance I've run, give or take 10-15 cals in either direction.
  • Not completely accurate...I have small kids who always want to be outside, I'm active outside (running, etc...), and it didn't make a difference one way or the other. Mine was depleted...there was no measurable counts. My Endo put me on 2x week 50,000 units, plus 5,000 units on the other 5 days. Within 3 months, I was back…
  • I can't help with you the diet thing... but I just want to say, that yes, it can be harder to conceive a child, it's not impossible. Please don't put a time limit on it. I have PCOS, didn't meet my husband until I was 33, got married 18 months later and didn't have my first child until I was 38, my 2nd at 39.5. I did need…
  • Whatever you like! My husband and I have Thai once a week. I can't have anything with soy, but other than that, I order what I want. I'm particularly fond of Chicken Pad Thai, Singapore rice noodles, and grilled chicken in thai chili sauce
