I like the Nike+GPS and RunKeeper.....I got the Nike+ when it was free though. I use it more than RunKeeper. I use it when I'm walking somewhere for work or walking at the mall for exercise.

So nice to see all the new "faces"! Assalaamu alaikum and welcome...Muslims and non-Muslims! I went shopping today at the halal market to get our meats! It was a different market than we usually go to, but it was so much nicer. I was really expecting it to be crowded (you know.....2 days before Ramadan!) but it really…

That is excellent Bosanka! Were you using the calorie burned estimates that MFP gives you when you were eating them back? I've found that they are usually double what my heart rate monitor says I've burned. But if not eating them back at all gives you these great results than so be it! :)

I have a binder of recipes that I've come across that sound good. I've tried most of them I have in there but I haven't tried this one yet. It sounds like it would be part of a great suhoor meal....made ahead of course! Do-Ahead Egg Bake Prep time: 20 min Total time: 13 hour 10 min Makes: 12 servings What You Need: 8 eggs…

The woman who suggested you come here is a wise woman! I have been using MFP since the last week of December with excellent results! If you follow your calorie goals honestly, you can do it!

These sound great! Thanks for sharing!

There is a reason I don't have the sodium count visible on my diary for my friends to see....I'm sure that my constant overage would astound some of them! The only time I've noticed anything about it was when I had over 6,000 mg of sodium one day and not enough water....I had a 5 pound gain overnight! I have at least…

Wow that's an early start! I wouldn't see why switching it up wouldn't work. It seems like it might even work better because you'd be giving your body lots of protein to last through the day. I know for me that I usually end up eating fairly light at Iftar so your light meals sound great! I remembered I had this recipe…

Question for those with younger children: do you decorate your home at all for your children? My daughter just turned 4 years old and since she is much more aware of the things going on around her than Ramadans past, I decided to get some simple decorations this year to get her interested in Ramadan and Eid. We decorated…

So cooking...I hate cooking and Ramadan always highlights that! Do you have any recipes that are fairly quick that you turn to in Ramadan? I always make red lentil soup as a starter for each evening's meal. My husband (who is from Syria and the pickiest person on earth I think!) thinks it's delicious! Here's the recipe and…

I think I've only had one thing on the list many years ago (the McDonald's chocolate shake) but the thing that did surprise me was why on earth does White Castle have different calorie counts for the same size/flavor of their shakes based on region???? Are the people in Louisville too skinny so they need a higher calorie…

I will be fasting Ramadan again this year insha'Allah. It will be my 8th year, alhamdulillah! I've never been in the place I am now with wanting to lose weight and exercise during Ramadan, so in that sense, it will be my first. I have in the past lost weight, but gained it right back after Ramadan was over. I'm excited to…

I love that you've started this! I'll be here and fasting, insha'Allah. I don't have a treadmill but I have a stationary bike that I could do my miles on. (114 is a nice # too!) Hopefully the other members will join up too!

Why am I just now seeing this????? Will definitely have to make these!

I think it's probably normal.....if you were really working yourself hard at that time. Remember....it's not as precise as we would like it to be either so there will be some margin of error. :)

I didn't know how much food I was actually consuming! And I didn't know that I could get results without living on salads and carrot sticks!

We have season passes to Kings Island which is owned by Cedar Point....I tried the test seat with the over the shoulder harness and it wouldn't lock. It was close but just not there yet. I was about 35 pounds heavier than you are now. It might work for you!
-
Oh....well it won't automatically let you go less than 1200 so I don't think it would do anything even if you said yes!
-
MFP will ask you this after every 10 pounds you lose and log. I always do it so it keeps the calorie goals set for the right amount I want to lose per week.
-
That's a way easier way to do it! I'm going to start measuring it this way!

Definitely moderation.....I've been pretty good about getting some not so "clean" foods to fit into my daily calories. Cheesecake Factory anyone?

I did a social research project when I was an undergrad student in social work. We had to got to grocery stores in different socioeconomic neighborhoods around town and compare prices and various types of foods. The stores that were in the lowest income areas lacked the most availability of high quality food and the stores…

I'll be fasting in Ramadan too and have been wondering lately how many other Muslims are on here. (That's how I found the post....searching "Muslim" "Islam" and "Ramadan" ! :)

Ever since 2003 I've done a month long fast for religious reasons once a year (Ramadan). From sunrise to sunset (about 14.5 hours this year) we don't eat or drink ANYTHING....not even water. It's tough and although I have lost weight during the month, as soon as it's over, and I went back to eating normal, it all came…

LOL I love this! And most definitely I weigh my food. I attribute all of my success to getting my portions under control with my scale. My eyeballs are much bigger than what an actual serving is!
-
They have those things in the MFP database (cleaning, gardening, mowing, etc).....but my rule of thumb with the calorie estimates that come from the database is to only record half of what it says. In using my heart rate monitor I've found that MFP is usually about double of what my HRM says.

You look amazing! And SO much YOUNGER! Great job!

I didn't even get to the article.....it was enough to read the link! Yuck!

You look so cute! Great job and you are so motivating for me!
