Far from it which is why I can't understand why she weighs 187. You can see from my profile pics I am not a stick.
-
No seriously where are you carrying it? I'm not talking a little more than me, it's 19 lbs.
-
I'm 6ft and you weigh more than me? Sorry, but judging by your profile pic I call BS.
-
I had one of these days last week. I just indulged and got back on track the next day. I was worried it would continue the next day, but it didn't.

Touche.

Just a thought. When our ancestors were running around hunting for food, I'm sure they didn't think "mm, I must go do a few curls with that tree log, don't want to get skinny fat"

Calorie deficit burns fat. Whether that be from diet, exercise or both does not matter for weight loss. The end result is better with both though. It's easier to create the deficit with exercise. If you want a deficit of 500 calories it's easier to reduce your intake by just 250 calories and burn 250 with exercise than it…

So marathon TYPE training is not a good way to achieve fitness and weight loss? Good grief!
-
This.
-
Yes, but because you NEED it it's suddenly not bad for you, but in all other cases it is? What I'm getting at is that it has been implied that marathon type training is bad for you.
-
"Unless you're training for a marathon". So it's ok in this case, but if you are not then it's counter productive. How does your body know the difference?
-
I don't believe the calorie burn on the elliptical. It wasn't until I ditched the elliptical and starting running on the treadmill that I really started to see results. Running is hard and that's why it works.
-
Yeah and that profile pic is you! Easy to knock isn't it?
-
They want the fabled thigh gap IMHO.

Hi Miguel. I started running about one year ago and am now completely addicted, running around 50 mpw. My favourite race distance is 5K because it's over quickly! Friend request sent.
-
Oink.
-
25 mins is a very good 5K time. Whether you can keep it up for 10K depends on whether your 5K effort is all out. Judging by your 7.5K time I would say aim for around 55-58 minutes. I don't know about water stations as I've never raced a 10K officially. IMHO you don't need water for this distance.

What's wrong with using the egg yolk in the omellette?

Alcohol has zero calories. I prefer to live in denial.
-
So there are benefits to inactivity? Sorry, couldn't help it lol.
-
Agreed. They cannot be serious.

I found a site which provides the formula they use to calculate your daily allowance. They deduct 11 points from the result. I can only conclude that 7 points goes towards your weekly 49 extra points and the remaining 4 are for fruit/veg. 4 points is approximately 160 calories so that is what they have allowed for.
-
Maybe you're running too fast. There is no such thing as too slow so slow down.
-
Damn, the secrets out!
-
When I realised that If you cannot run then you are not as fit as you should be. I hope this does not offend non runners.

January 2011, 276 lbs June 2012, 168 lbs I lost most of the weight with Weight Watchers. I am maintaining my current weight with 2600 calories per day and a lot of running!
-
Got a new PR yesterday. 21:37. Still got beat by a man pushing a baby buggy though! I'm now up to 50+ MPW and I'm sure this is helping.
-
Scott is dead right. I do a lot of my runs now at an easy pace, but have upped the mileage. I am hoping to get a new PR on Saturday. It's also a lot more enjoyable to run at an easy pace, speed work hurts.
-
I'm up to 50 miles and not losing. Unfortunately it's not a license to eat. On the positive side I'm not gaining.

You can go by how you feel and try to increase the distance a little each week which is how I did it. Don't increase by more than 10% is a good rule of thumb. Alternatively you could follow a structured program like couch to 5K and then bridge to 10K.
