  • I've been aware of the protein thing. I was a bit disappointed yesterday because when I got home from the gym, I had no groceries and couldn't give myself the protein that I desperately needed. Haha. I typically have smoothies with whey powder in them. I'm not sure how much protein is required, though. It's all tricky.…
  • 3/4 cup of skim milk 3/4 fat-free yogurt (typically vanilla for me) 1/2 raspberries 1/2 scoop of vanilla whey powder (optional, of course) 2 tsp of organic peanut butter It actually tastes pretty good. I have it before I'm going to the gym or after if I couldn't before!
  • Ah I see. Interesting. I never really knew that water had anything to do with it. I mean, I knew that the muscle tissue tore and the body is at work on repairing it, but I didn't know it was water that's doing this. Thank you! :-) I am glad I got back to lifting weights again, especially after all I've read and been told…
  • I agree with the article that was posted earlier. I personally feel it's better to exercise at a time when you're tired than to not do anything at all, but I definitely believe everyone has their own specific times to work out. I find I have the most energy at around 2 or 3; it's like nothing can stop me on that tredmill.…
  • Wow. I honestly feel that this video would be enough for me to watch everyday and just have the motivation to do it. It is definitely an inspiring story.
  • Actually, I would like to thank those who responded. :-) Turns out, you DID have the magic words. I did some Wii fit in between by work and class and then after supper, I went to the gym and pushed myself as hard, if not harder, than I pushed myself when I'd last been there, and I felt great for it. And today... well, I…
  • I don't know what it is... but prior to that, I hadn't had it I think for a month or two, and then I had it, and I was like, "...Why did I get this? This is disgusting." And it made me feel gross. So, since then, I've never gone back. I don't know why. But I think I managed to make that move in my life where McDonald's is…
  • Cattie, I am definitely trying that tonight. I love feta and I love sundried tomatoes -- I can't believe I never thought of that before!
  • Thanks, guys. I have to get back into the cardio thing. I was doing quite well. In October/November I lost 18 lbs (in spite of what my ticker thing there says), and I haven't gained it back, but I felt out of the gym thing and I haven't really be losing anymore either.
  • Ah I see! I sort of assumed it was just nutrition/cardio/core exercises. I figured it would be good to get some advice from others who've felt my pain. I've got a really annoying muffin top thing going on, and no part of my body has more fat than that area. As for nutrition, is it a particular type of thing you avoid? Or…
  • It's really awesome! Sometimes you barely even notice the loss at all until you really, really look at it.
  • Great job! It really does help.
  • Congrats! It gets so much easier to avoid temptation as you go on. :-) And then it's even greater when you get to the point where you can have a little treat like that and not feel like you suddenly have to eat a bunch more.
  • Woohoo! Calendar Age: 21.8 RealAge: 19.7 Difference of 2.1!
  • The way I see it is that you just need the restraint to know not to eat it alllll the time. If you can eat it and not start binging, you're good. Also, another way I like to look at it is that I see physically fit people eating junk allllll the time, and they're still in shape months to come. So if they can do it, why…
  • I can't wait to be fuschia. But my ultimate goal is to be orange! :D
  • Ahahaha. So it is! Okay, then 205-210 shall beeee... Tea Green. Haha.
  • Well, I am a barista (work at a cafe) and I also work at an information desk for my university. In addition, I'm also a full-time student doing their honours in linguistics and a potential major in anthropology, with a potential minor in French. Nothing's set in stone. Haha.
  • Can I claim 205-210 as Seafoam Green? Haha. It's the colour of my apartment annnd I hate it, so I figure that'll motivate me to get down to 200-205. But what will that be? If I can, can I also name that one? :-P Lol. If sooo... I want it to be Psychedelic Purple (weird colour, right? haha). Because that just sounds cool.
  • Don't worry, it totally gets easier! It's my favourite thing to use at the gym. It's low-impact so it doesn't destroy my shins, and it somehow feels less monotonous than jogging on the treadmill. I was proud when I saw that I could keep my heart rate from going up to the "danger" zone in a 30-minute program.
  • Thanks! I typically work 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm, and sometimes until midnight. I usually try to make sure there's something for me to snack on at work, and I drink a lot of water. My biggest challenge at work is avoiding what's there, since I work in a cafe. There are tons of cookies and sweet drinks. Haha. Fortunately, I've…
  • The elliptical is awesome. It's low-impact so it doesn't kill me as much. Haha. I am usually only on it for a half hour and burn around 350 calories.
  • That's so awesome, and I keep most of those things on hand anyway! Just need to get some mushrooms and green/red peppers. :-) I'm gonna try making that for breakfast some morning.
  • Great to know we could help!
  • Slumps suck! But they definitely happen. It's why I always wanna kick people who are always happy. :-P Haha. Because, in my opinion, there's no way that you'll not get into some kinda slump at some point in your life! Some it happens to more than others, and some rarely go through one at all. But hey, they happen! Trust…
  • Congrats! Saying no is pretty hard... I have turned down cake, McDonald's, and cheese lately. Haha.
  • Bahahaha. That's awesome.
  • Well... you're probably not gonna like what I have to say. :-P Haha. I would advise you to not work out today. You've worked out for the past five workdays? Take a breeeeak. If you're going at it that much, unless it's really apart of your lifestyle, it's more than likely you're going to just stop altogether! I make sure…
  • Omg, this almost made me spit up my chai tea all over my computer at work. LOL. That is soooooo unfortunate!
  • Blondie, that's so funny! I'm going through the same thing as you! Like to a T. Haha. I was never willing to give up all these things, and then I recently decided to try it, and I've been working hard, and I lost 3 lbs in a week, too! Congrats! It's so much easier than we thought, eh? Haha.
