your body needs natural fats. its processed fats you want to really watch out for. I wouldn't over-do the almonds (or any nuts for that matter) because they are high in fat, but in moderation they are very good for you.

I have seen 2 finnish winters, so I second that. It was so cold there!(But you guys also had like a record hot summer there this year and like NO ONE has air conditioning and I suffered through that too!!) my main reason is obviously for myself and for my self-esteem, but there is that little bit of me who is definitely doing this because I am an actor, and should I ever manage to get parts, I dont want to have to watch play back of my roles and only think about how fat I look. haha

For me personally there is no big change the week after, just my normal average loss. However, From what I have seen and read its perfectly normal not to lose or even to gain a pound or 2 due to water weight. If you gain water weight lbs those should come off right away. I try to avoid the scale during that time.

I take a fiber supplement every day, but it is because I was having digestion issues and issues with bowel movements. I am not particularly sure they would help with weight loss but they are good for your system. :)

To the best of my knowledge, it is relatively important to be normal on sodium, the best way to do that is to cut back on processed foods and when you buy veggies and all that look for low sodium or no salt added.
