Gaining weight after WLS isn't blowing it, however, I do understand how you'd feel that way. Think about what success you have achieved. You could be looking at a total regain plus some extra weight. Prior to surgery every diet I ever did I would lose then gain back weight. The surgery has helped you with your success. The…

Mrsjksmith19, stick with what is on your surgeons recommended food list. The broth is boring but designed to put the minimum impact on your new stomach. Your stomach is swollen after surgery, think of it only being able to accommodate the thickness of a pencil, there isn't much room for anything other than clear liquids.…

It's always sad when I read about people struggling with weight loss after surgery. No one goes into the surgery with the wish that they will struggle with the process and immediately start to regain. I have friends who have regained and when I ask what happened they tell me they fell back into their old habits of chips,…

Did an hour on Precor's AMT machine, which is a combination stepper, elliptical, & treadmill. I'm 2.8 lbs away from my January 1st weight. Not sure I'll make it but it's better than my previous years when I was 50 pounds above my weight on Jan 1.

Today I jumped on the trampoline for 86 minutes over the course of the day.

MrsJKSmith19, don't pre-worry about anything. As long as you follow the guidelines you probably won't have any issues. If something does come up just get a hand on it early. Listen to your body and you'll be fine.

DawnCumm, the time goes incredibly fast. I think there's some relief that the surgery is past and the excitement that weight loss has truly started that makes the days pass very quickly. Prior to surgery the anxiety and nervousness that comes with a new adventure kept me on track. I also read several bariatric books during…

Loved the November challenge. I had 2 days where I didn't get my full 30-minute sin but I had several days when I had more than an hour. AprilTram, thank you for putting this together.

Hello all, sorry I haven't been posting but I have been getting my 30 minutes in daily. It's just been that busy time of year. I still love this challenge and it was great for motivating me to at least get in my daily 30.

Hello, I'm not remembering much about how I got through the pureed and soft stage other than I knew it was a short-term situation. I ate a lot of yogurt, ricotta cheese, cottage cheese (blended), mashed bananas, pureed squash, instant mashed potatoes made with cream of chicken soup (I needed flavor), and refried beans.…

It's great that you have a program coordinator who has personal experience as a patient. Your support meetings are important. I still attend my meetings at almost 3 years post-op from surgery. The meetings help you stay on track and will help you in maintaining your weight loss. Keep us updated on your progress.

Sam, I would think this is something they would have discovered prior to your surgery being scheduled. I'm not sure what rotated intestines are but were the doctors able to offer any other solution, perhaps the lap band if the sleeve isn't an option. Don't give up. Ask for a second opinion, go see a different doctor, just…

I'm sorry this happened to you. I've never understood why people who are also losing weight, maintaining weight loss or have regained are mean to other people struggling to get healthy. The people here at MFP are great. I've never experienced any judgment and everyone celebrates the small losses along with the biggest…

Samquentin, thank you for the recipe.

Aztec4Life, I can't let the Cowboys lose since I live in Texas, but if you beat your best time in the Turkey Trot I'm willing to cheer a little for the Chargers.

Time4Nana, Anytime I did/do something that didn't agree with my stomach I gave my stomach a 10-12 hour break and only did clear liquids. Wait about three weeks to try the food that didn't agree with you and then make sure it's well chewed before swallowing. Brussel sprouts feel like a rock in my stomach if I don't chew…

I was also told the drinking rule is forever. I'm 2.7 years post-op and still follow the guideline unless I'm having wine with dinner. If I'm eating out I'll have my wine when everyone else is having an appetizer, which usually gives me 15-30 minutes before the meal arrives. At home, I don't bring a drink to the table so…

Treadmill again to get my 10K steps before going shopping with a friend. Here is a picture of Lola from earlier this summer. She's holding her mouth funny because she wants to bark but I've told her to quiet down and she's waiting for me to forget.
-
Did the treadmill and then went to Mistletoe & Magic Christmas shopping event.

Time4Nana, one of the things I did during the 30/30 was walk in place or some other light form of exercise or clean house to give me something to do during the before/after eating wait. It gets easier as you get further out and can eat more dense food, you'll feel full and not thirsty. In the beginning, it seems to be a…

By some Texas standards, it was freezing today. It barely got into the 50's and it rained all day. All my steps were inside on the treadmill, some walking in place in front of the TV, some just running around in circles. Here are my steps for today.
-
I did the treadmill today, it was boring. I watched some crime show and every time I wanted to stop I pretended I was running from the killer. Running for your life is good motivation to keep going.
-
I didn't watch the full video but did he address his weight gain?

I went to a flea market and was so surprised by the sheer volume of stuff I forgot to take a picture. By the way there is nothing like seeing a lot of junk to make you come home and clean house. So rather than junk here are some lizards I snapped in Aruba

Walked the park again. It was so humid.

Time4Nana, the fatigue is normal I believe. I would get up, shower and get back in the bed for the first two weeks. I was just that tired. The fatigue started to go away after my diet began to change from liquids to normal food, about 6 weeks after surgery.
-
Pretty day outside today. Got my 10k steps in.
-
I got my steps on the treadmill today, but here is a picture from the Dallas fall Arboretum that I thought you might enjoy along with my steps.

I just realized that didn't give my steps.
