  • Sleeved 2/2/2015 HW 267 SW 236 I think GW 150 Lowest Wt 129 CW 144 Like everyone else, I said I would never regain the weight I lost but life doesn't work that way. Lost my brother to suicide caused by mental illness and life just kinda fell apart for a while. I thought I had a disaster plan but obviously it didn't work…
  • HLaR79, returning to your original question. I was told by my bariatric team that 5-10% weight gain was normal but should not exceed that unless I was putting in zero effort. I've gained 10%, which I'm not happy about. When I went in for my 4-year follow up we discussed it. The Doctor was impressed that at nearly 5 years…
  • Hello all, I've been absent for quite a while and I need to get back on track mentally and physically. I continued to log but I didn't eat like a person wanting to lose 15 lbs and exercise has virtually been non-existent. I know better so I should do better. My June goal is to do some type of fat burning activity for 30…
  • Hello, I'm days away from my 4 year post surgery date. I've sent you a friend request. My daily food log is open to friends. It sounds like you're doing great and post goal weight I tended to eat the same foods day after day. I think I had 5 go to meals and I just repeated them one after the other because they worked in…
  • I'm one of only a handful of people that attend the monthly bariatric meetings held by the office that did my surgery. People tend to show up for the minimum number of meeting requirements prior to surgery then never again. Are the meetings perfect, no but I try to find one thing that can help me maintain my weight loss. I…
  • Congratulations on being asked by your doctor's office to speak at the bariatric sessions, that equals real success! The best advice I have is to make changes to your diet that are sustainable. During the weight loss phase find new favorite foods, find an exercise you can do without feeling like it's a punishment, and…
  • Nicole, you're doing great considering all that life has given you. I'm 3+ years post-op and have gained 9 pounds. In the past 4 months my brother took his own life, my daughter's apartment burned, and both of my dogs got sick. I ate and sat on my *kitten* when I should have exercised off my stress. I'm working on getting…
  • Nice, I remember when I got my date I knew it was real then.
  • Welcome to our group. I didn't have a waiting period for my insurance to cover the surgery. However, I think this is a great time for you to explore the post-surgery guidelines. Post surgery, you'll need to take smaller bites, chew thoroughly, and avoid drinking with meals. Those are good skills to take into surgery with…
  • The type of carb does matter. As long as I stick with fruits and vegetables I'm alright but anything not in it's pure and natural state kicks my butt. I've decided if I want a donut then I should walk to the donut shop which is about 5 miles away, buy 1 donut and walk back home. If I really want the donut then I shouldn't…
  • Hello, I'm here every day and my diary is open to view so you can see what I'm not eating and what I am eating. I log it all the good, the bad, and the ugly. I will send you a friend request.
  • Welcome, Weight loss surgery can help you lose the weight and help you maintain. I've sent you a friend request. If MFP food diary works the way I think it should you can look and see what I was eating starting in February 2015 at the time I had the surgery.
  • Thank you all for sharing. This month my bariatric center's meeting is focused on the 3+ year struggles. I'll share any insights, tips, etc. that I get from the meeting.
  • My non-scale victory, I've been wearing the same size clothing for 2 years in a row. The closet is no longer shrinking my clothing as it did in the past, no little elves are sneaking into the closet and making my clothing smaller, and all those other excuses I used to make for my clothing not fitting are gone.
  • Adrishappyjo, Thank you for sharing your story. I have no experience with the lap band but I do have friends that tried that route and everyone eventually had complications. So you are not alone in that aspect. You may not believe it but you actually had success. You had three kids and a failed lap band but and you didn't…
  • Never give up, that's my message for today. Claw your way calorie, fat gram, carb, protein, protein etc. way to your goal weight. As I work to lose 10 pounds I'm going to stop saying I've only lost an ounce and focus on ounces equal pounds. Have a great day everyone.
  • James, you make good points about wearing the same size clothing and feeling better than I have in years. I'm more active now than I've been at any time in my life. Other people see me and say I'm fit but I look in the mirror and see 5 extra pounds. I think what's holding me back is fear. I'm afraid to stop getting on the…
  • Congratulations on your success! Keep up the good work.
  • I had surgery in February of 2015. I used MFP prior to and after surgery. It isn't perfect but it works for me. Like Jenneke said, follow the guidelines your nutritionist gave you. They want you to be successful and should be flexible enough to make changes if needed. I was a slow loser, it took me 16 months to lose 103…
  • After surgery I did low carb/fat, high protein. My carbs were probably around 50grams per day. Any lower and I felt like crap.
  • clsumrall1, Glad you're home and doing well. Sounds like you did great at getting in some steps before leaving the hospital. Keep up the great work.
  • Sam, thank you for your post. When you speak about not celebrating our own accomplishments that is true for me. I only celebrate the big accomplishments and I treat the small ones like they don't exist. While in reality, the small accomplishments equal the big ones. Today I'm celebrating getting back to getting my 10K…
  • HLaR79, it can be frustrating when you're headed in a new direction and everyone seems to want to keep you where you've been. Take things one day at a time. For the junk food lovers in your family cook what you need to succeed and let them doctor up what you cook to meet their need for junk food. If they aren't willing to…
  • Haha, this is going to be my new reply when I get the side eye look when people find out I weight daily.
  • jcavanna, I'm seriously considering getting one. I'm so bored with my treadmill and although I have a Schwinn bike you can't spin with it. It's a traditional stationary bike and you have to ride a long time to get a good calorie burn. The spin bikes/class give me that high-intensity exercise feeling I want.
  • jcavanna, your stats look good, healthy, and motivating. I certainly like the app better than what I have today (apple watch), which doesn't give a lot of info.
  • Jcvanna2, I like the app. On the statistics, I'm interested in both workout and any weight loss or maintenance if you want to share. When I do the spin class at the gym I get the stats from my apple watch but not the bike so I'm interested in the stats provided by the bike.
  • Did you have to purchase the shoes and earbuds from their site? Do you have to have the shoes and would other versions of earbuds work? Please give an update at the end of the week with your stats if you don't mind sharing. I have a gym class treadmill at home and I'm interested in adding a spin cycle because I just like…
  • I'm so still addicted to my scales or any scales. I'm at my mom's and didn't have room in my bag to take my scales with me. The first thing I did when I got to my moms was to get on her scales so I have a point of reference for my vacation. I know her scales are about 3 pounds off from mine and I'm okay with that. It's the…
  • Jcvanna2, I'm so excited about your bike!
