I think there are still a big gang of people that thinks fat makes you fat. Fat is calorie dense so you need to watch it, but your body needs good fat like the kind found in nuts. I eat natural organic peanut butter not processed by high heat. Also a good anti-inflammatory oil.

1. Keep my weight around 175 lbs. 2. Be able to run with the 3:40 pace group at the next Houston Marathon. 3. Break 1:40 on my half marathon.

Chevron Houston Marathon. Last Year PR was 4:17.....this year PR at 3:46:26. :drinker:

I put a NUUNs tab in every other bottle or glass of water I drink. Gives it a slight flavor and replaces electrolytes. Of course I run alot so electrolytes are a bit more important for me. The Fruit Punch NUUNs are the ones I like, but they come in other flavors.

I had a girl tell me I was a "F'n homo" because I did not want to go out with her....so don't think it is just guys. Just a very small insignificant percent of both I am sure.

I started having the same problem when my training runs got longer. I had to almost double my carb load for a week before I started feeling better. AND doing that, I did not gain any weight back. So increase a little at a time to keep up with your exercise.

I have no seen untrained people actually win, but I have had them kick my trained butt all over. I would come in at 1:55 and they would come in about 1:48. So possible. I believe some people just have natural abilities and probably genetically gifted biomechanics. We have alot of runners in my clubs that are like this.…

When i switched from asics to newtons i gradually phased them in. Heard too many horror stories about just switching over. Been in the newtons 3 years now and only real pain is after hill work, but now that is starting to subside

Not to worry. I have people that I work out with that started trying to lose wait the same time I did. I lost 25 lbs and they have not lost squat, which pisses them off. So I am called anorexic and other terms. I am 6' and 175 lbs....Don't really think that qualifies as anorexic, plus I have plenty of lean muscle mass from…

During the week i just dont drink any alchohol. I once read an eamail from "Joel and Josh" (i will not mention the company), but they had an article that basically said it is a double whammy because, 1. It slows your metabolism and 2) it drops your blood sugar(thus causing the munchies). Is that true? Guess you could go on…

I keep myself busy organizing, planning, studying. I DO NOT sit in front of the tv...that is a trigger for me. Once i figured that out i was good. I volunteer coach C25k, i go to all my club meetings....i just stay busy.

Many factors....what did you eat before a bad run the days before? Had any nagging injuries...? Spend enough time warming up? Did you consistently get speed work and tempo runs in.? Recovery time? Sleep? I think you have to put yourself in training situations that are going to mentally chalkenge your mind as well as your…

Ive noticed that since i have tossed 25 lbs, i really do not even need to make my goal. I overeat 1 day a week to keep my body from slowing down my metabolism. I do speed work and several runs during the week also, so i also have a very slow resting heart rate.
-
I have always done upper body heavy weights to help keep my body fat in check. I just started slowly doing lunges and leg presses. Supposedly, i will get used to this.....i will be glad when that happens. But i do water jogs and elliptical on my light weeks for the most part

Processed foods. Foods made with HFCS ( i dont care what the govt. subsidized farmers tell you in their commercial), foods made with GMO grains, meats from animals on an unnatural diet....all this being said, i will occassionally eat foods like this when i get in a crunch for time, or i am on cheat day, but more often go…

Mine was pretty much around the same last year when i trained for Houston, just less volume like Carson was saying. I am kinda wierd....the four days before a marathon all i do is stretching and some light core work. That has worked well for me the last few I have ran. I noticed most training schedules have you running up…

You need to do some testing to figure out your max HR. I did it a couple of years ago, pretty tough. It involved some sprinting, I would have to google the test back up again, and I am sure mine has changed by now with all the speed work and weight loss. I am 52 yrs old, 6' and 173 lbs. My long steady runs (10 to 12 miles)…

I only really get tired after longs of 12 miles or more. You may want to adjust your macro nutrients...a little more carb maybe. And if you up the carbs, make sure they are slow digesting carbs (e.g. sweet potatoes, strawberries...etc.) You don't want to spike you blood sugar and get into a bad cycle. get at least 7 hrs…

Gr8 work....keep it rollin'

I vote Half also. You don't realize how different those two distances are until you run your first full. Lots to figure out about how your body responds while running longer distances. Wait and do a full standard training schedule for a marathon.
