  • I eat breakfast later (around 10) - which keeps me full til lunch (around 1) No way could I last from 7 until 1 on one bowl of oatmeal, I'd have to have a morning snack which would just be additional calories. I'm not even hungry when I wake up so I figured I would leave breakfast until I'm hungry.
  • What makes it "better" than whole. It has less fat, and therefore less calories - so you can drink more of it and still stick within your calorie goals. However if you are trying to make a certain fat macro target then 4% milk might be "better" for you.
  • Yes but it is also ok to be a bit hungry if lunch is a couple of hours away - you're not going to die from sticking to set meals... It's easy to go over your calorie needs if you stick something in your mouth every time you feel the slightest twinge of hunger. I can see the sentiment of this... but also understand why…
  • I'm in the last stages too - I'm keeping my calories the same but trying to eat over 100g protein and incorporating strength training. Essentially I am trying to maintain muscle so that the last bit of weight I lose is all fat - I would like to be 20% bodyfat and that is my new goal over and above my scale weight goal.
  • Probably just eggs or oatmeal.
  • You'd be much better off with the 1440. I'm 5ft 6 also and weigh 129 - I'm almost at my goal of 125 and my net calorie goal is 1450. I often go up to 100 over this and I am still losing weight at a very slow but consistent pace.
  • Wow that's incredible! Thank you for being one of the most inspiring on my friends list!
  • Foods with ingredients that aren't actually food. In other words ingredients I couldn't buy individually from a food shop and recreate at home. E.g chicken nuggets. Don't think Waitrose sells reclaimed chicken LOLZ.
  • Ok i apologise for my post, it's inaccurate - I'm at work and typing quickly... Chemical additives - artificial flavours, texture enhancers, colourings, MSG etc.. just unnecessary. Why would you want to eat them, just why? Addition of excessive salt and sugar - salt, bad for your health, sugar = empty calories, no…
  • And now I'm being painted as someone completely ignorant of nutrition and a proponent of fad diets because i advocate eating fresh food?? THIS SITE
  • I'm not talking about abstinence, I'm talking about home cooking and knowing the providence of your food to avoid hidden calories from completely unnecessary chemical additives.
  • oh please. yes I do believe my home cooked food to be not processed when quite obviously you're taking the word "processed" out of the context of this debate. We all know that processed in this context refers to pre-made foods and fast food etc.... We are not talking about processed to mean food that has not been washed,…
  • Bowing out of this now.
  • So you GENUINELY think that obesity is all down to poeple stuffing their faces with too much home cooked fresh food? LULWUT? :noway:
  • No - I'm saying if the general population maybe ate more fresh, home cooked food and a little less processed food then they would have calories to spare to enjoy ice cream for dessert and everyone would be a little less overweight.
  • No difference chemically, but that wasn't what i was trying to land. I know you can eat ice cream and still stick to a calorie deficit if you so wish. Hell, I even had an ice cream yesterday myself. And stuck to my calorie goal. This is a thread about processed food and obesity though. It's easy to over eat. Even easier…
  • This entire thread is not about ice cream though - it's about eating processed foods instead of cooked from scratch foods as the main proportion of your diet. As I said before - do you truly think the US/UKs obesity problem is due to people simply over-eating veg and homecoooked food???
  • You can get all the natural sugars you need from staples such as carrots, sweet potatoes etc...
  • You can technically eat what you like as long as you maintain your calorie deficit. However, if you "waste" calories on sweet treats you will most likely be hungry the whole time and end up caving in and over eating. I would recommend spending your calorie allowance on food that keeps you full up and gives you the…
  • I don't really care about coming under on carbs - only care about going over!
  • You can't gain wait in a deficit. If you gained you weren't in a deficit - either due to over estimation of calories burned or under estimation of calories eaten.
  • Apart form ingesting pesticide residues. But my point still stands - organic or non organic, I prefer my burgers made with fresh meat and my bread made with long fermentation and containing only flour, yeast, water and salt.
  • Also, the is a massive difference between "shaming" of someone's specific views and making an observation abut a lack of education in nutrition leading to I'll informed choices (such as over consumption of fast food and highly processed foods)
  • Added sugar is empty calories though. Which is obviously what I meant. I don't care if you're a special snowflake or not, I'm not trying to convince you personally to change your eating habits - I'm making a general comment about a problem affecting the whole developed world. Yes I did read your whole post but since I'm…
  • Clean eating and IIFWYM are not mutually exclusive. If I want a burger I can make patties with organic ground beef and use decent artisanal bread and top with no artificial ingredients relish. There is absolutely no need to eating such poor quality food.
  • Sure, everyone is different. But obesity levels are soaring and that is not because the general population are stuffing their faces with too many vegetables and fresh organic meat. Our food chain is loaded with cheap, pre-made food that is packed with sugar and salt making small amounts of food overly calorific and not…
  • This is also what I meant when I say sugar makes us fat. It is added into so many foods now that it is easy for the average non calorie counting person to massively over-consume without knowing it. There is a massive obesity crisis and sugar is a contributing factor in that.
  • I'm totally cool with processing if it just means chopping, peeling etc... If super market tomato sauces just contained tomatoes and maybe some seasoning and herbs that would be cool. The "processing" isn't the issue - it's the added sugar, completely unnecessary preservatives, colours and texture enhancers - why do we…
  • Stop buying them and eating them.
  • It's not going to help you lose weight. It may help you hit your protein targets in a low calorie/fat way.
