  • In for the imminent bickering, but hoping for some good information between all that. If you are concerned about consuming GMO's, know that in the US, the only crops that are GMO-grown are Soybean, Corn, Cotton, Canola, Squash, Papaya, Alfalfa, Sugarbeet. Stay away from those items and you're golden.
  • I'll ask him why he set it out this way tomorrow. I'm sure there's a reason behind it, but didn't think to ask at the time. LOL My mind was more set around 'oh god, i'm used to tracking my macros for the day, not per meal, how the hell am I going to pull this off??' It's not so bad, and I actually look forward to my late…
  • This is a wonderful post. Perfect explanation.
  • I'm glad I'm not the only one who does this. I enjoy a cup of bullion on days that I'm insatiably hungry. For some reason, this is the only thing that calms my belly and gets the cravings to go away.
  • I second this, and thank you for reminding me I have a tin of some really good stuff from there up in my cabinet. Off to go make some. Mmmm
  • Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey protein powder. The chocolate is fantastic, no funky protein taste, not overbearingly thick like some protein shakes can be. I mix mine with unsweetened vanilla almond milk and toss in half a banana.
  • I love doing meal prep Sundays! Doesn't take all that long in the grand scheme of things, and supplies me with quick grab-n-go food all week long! This week, we cooked up a bunch of chicken on the grill, a pound of ground turkey, some rice, and some oatmeal. Also, shredded up my cabbages for quick salads. To help keep me…
  • I had lasik done after my second child was born, so that was about 9 years ago. My vision is 20/20 in the right, 20/10 (which is better than 'perfect') in the left. At the time, there were two options, different lasers they used I think. One option used more precise cuts to the eye, allowing for 'tune ups' later on down…
  • Green smoothies tend to separate if they sit long enough. Given that, I'd think the pre-made green smoothie wouldn't be a great option. A favorite of mine includes 2 big handfuls of spinach, a chunk of pineapple, about a tsp of fresh ground ginger, a splash of water, half a banana, and a cup of ice. Mmmmmm
  • Karma has a funny way of working these things out. All the pretty, skinny girls that used to taunt me in junior high are now fat women with fat little kids. I wouldn't wish weight issues on anyone, especially a child, but when I see those mean girls schlepping around with their obese children, I have to wonder if they…
  • LMAO! That was the response my inner voice said as I typed the question  The reason I asked is because so often we see the advice to adjust calories 100 this way or that, so I'm like, well, if we need to be so accurate that 100 calorie adjustment would make that big of a deal, maybe I'm doing something wrong. Feel…
  • You know, I'm starting to think that might be the case..... I knew there would be an initial gain after increasing calories, especially coming out of a low carb lifestyle.. A lot of my freak out was due to the continued upward trend, especially last week. You'd think as a seasoned cyclist, I'd know that it's entirely…
  • What I did was went straight from 1200 calories to 1600-1800, with increased activity. Are you saying it might be good to eat at maintenance for a while before cutting back to -20%? Would that be necessary after a month at 1600-1800? Blargh! So many questions! LOL
  • 2900 would be on days I'm hitting the road for 5 miles. 2700 would be for days I'm only out there for 3, and all of this includes running around after 2 kids and keeping the house in working order between meetings, regular daily minutia that adds up by the end of the day. So maybe I don't have a 'slowed metabolism' per se,…
  • As recent as steadily for the last 6 months. I've only been eating above 1200 for about 4.5 weeks. Prior to that, it was at least 6 months of anywhere from 500-1200 calories a day, with the exception of days I'd go on very long bike rides (50+ miles), for which I'd obviously eat decently before and after or I'd never be…
  • No, unwanted/misaligned advice is not a reason to be rude. The assumptions/insistence that I over/under estimate, don't go to the dr, and all the rest of the garbage slung (bon bons and raspberry keytones, really?) at me was my reason for being rude. If you go over the thread, you will see my initial replies were filled…
  • We got married at the starting line of the MS150, a 100-mile charity ride for Multiple Sclerosis that we do every year. Sweet, huh? :) Thank you! Spent a considerable amount of time reading up over here last night. Interesting, and inspiring stuff!
  • LOL I'm wearing it right side up :) The only time it gives wonky results is when I'm riding my bike, but that's a known issue with the arm bands so I just take it off, use my Polar HRM for bike rides, and edit my 'off body' details for that duration. LBM sucks. :( It's a pretty good assumption that with all the VLCD'ing…
  • Seriously....wtf is with the assumptions around here? Good job!
  • To be fair, it wasn't even directed at her in particular. There were several posts that came in that offered the same sort of advice, and I responded to all, in an open-mic sort of fashion. It was at that point that she took it as a direct attack at what she had to say (which, by the way, aside from all the assumptions,…
  • Where did I say it was 7# of 'fat'. Again, I need to ask if you even read the post I quoted last time I addressed you, as it's pretty damn clear I was muddling the idea that this is temporary weight gain via water retention. As far as body fat %, had it checked with calipers, as well as bio-impedance. I believe I did…
  • Or is water retention a myth as well? Again, I didn't come here asking for caloric advice. I asked how long I can expect the scale to be screwing with my after upping my calories after repeatedly doing damage to myself on VLCD. How that turned into, please, tell me I'm inaccurately logging is beyond me.
  • The advice I was seeking was from like-minded individuals who understand that once you up your caloric intake after months and months of starving yourself that yes, you're going to see an uptick on the scale, and maybe offer some guidance as to how long I might experience said uptick before it started to go back down. I…
  • It's possible the device, and online tools, are over estimating to a degree, but like I said, not to the point that I should be gaining if I'm eating a steady 1600 calories. I could go into further detail about my 'disordered eating' (not sure if that's the same as an eating disorder), but I didn't reeeeally want to put…
  • What I don't appreciate is being told I'm wrong, simply because I didn't take YOUR advice. If you could understand and appreciate that there are different methods to lose weight, each applicable in certain situations, you wouldn't feel the need to come booming down on me with your knowledge stick. You'll notice that people…
  • GP said keep doing what I'm doing. Trainer said the same thing, and advised that once we get hot and heavy into the weight training, I increase my calories slightly. Trainer is currently out of town til Thursday, so I'll ask him for a 'how long ya think this is gonna take' when he gets back. The dr, well, I don't make it a…
  • You didn't come off as snarky, and I appreciate the questions, as they do help me to analyze and re-think my situation. The idea that my metabolism is slow comes from the fact that regardless of what my super exact TDEE is, there is just no earthly way I am eating to the point of a 7# weight gain in 4 weeks. Whether my…
