My doctor says the same thing - DO NOT eat back the calories. I would listen to your doctor for all of it, she IS an expert

It's a sound of impending doom! it also freaks people out and gives me goosebumps hehehe

Exactly how I feel - it is a pretty ****ty realization that I will never be able to eat without thinking and obsessing. I have seeked outside help but it is probably a life-long journey. I think logging at least helps me put my obsessive thoughts into something healthIER than my previous obsessive thoughts. But yes, it…

For a big reward, maybe even take a day off of work to go to the spa! Or not take time off, but time is a great reward in my book

I changed my username a few weeks ago during a very very rough time. When I changed it to IHTSM it meant "I hate this so much!", but apparently you can only change your name once and now I am stuck with it. Any suggestions for a positive acronym? maybe, "I have the success mentality!"

The run is on Sunday morning (May 12th)

I usually try and make my lunches for the whole week on Sundays. That didn't happen this week, so today (and tomorrow) its corn and black bean salad: 1 can of niblets 1 can of black beans an avacado onion cilantro or basil if you like it olive oil and balsamic or red wine vinegar lots and lots of black pepper a little salt…

Yea! Toronto here I've been on here for over a year now (on and off, but most recently on for the last 6 months or so) add me if you'd like! My journey has also been pretty rough lately, support is key!

I would suggest not eating back your exercise calories - so if your calorie goal is 1500 (for example) ONLY eat that much, but continue your workouts This is what my doctor suggests for me

I know its a bit different, but what I've learned with running marathons is that you should NEVER change your routine on the day of (or before) a race! Always do EXACTLY what you do during training.

I'm not expert or anything at all, but I wouldn't think quitting smoking would have anything to do with it. I always thought that the reason people generally gained weight after quitting smoking (as in my case) was because they went to food for comfort in place of smoking. If you are eating 1500 calories per day then I…

you're not alone - I also have these exact same struggles. I don't know what the answer is, but I started going to a doctor and nutritionist once every 1-2 weeks (for about a year now) and that has really helped me tremendously! I still obsess though, and I feel guilty if I eat something I consider "bad", but I think it is…

Well I am working on the vegan thing but have had some cheese on pizza a couple of times, and some ice cream.... I'm just doing my best. Have been good all week this week. I think I'll probably aim to be (eat and live) "vegan" 95% of the time for the next couple of months. I am already finding it easier as time goes by, so…

wow! so many thoughtful responses, I am touched! I actually have a tear in my eye from reading these posts. I have been through probably every type of eating disorder and even other addictions throughout most of my life, and while I always knew something wasn't right, and I wave not been "happy", I don't think I recognized…

Man, what a roller coaster this is. In one way I wonder if "food addiction" really does "exist" - I mean, there seems to be a label/disorder for every tiny thing out there. However, I didn't know that not everyone had this particular struggle with food. Previously, I had assumed that we all have to fight the "eat me"…
