Wow, goal reached early!!! Might have to set a stretch goal of 75 miles now.

Another 4.6 miles in the books, just a little over a mile to go to reach my goal for the month, might have to jog a little tonight just to get it done!

Thanks for the responses. I never realized how hard I was running before and how much better it feels to run slower. I never liked wearing a heart rate monitor before, but it has been very helpful in forcing me to slow down, especially up hills. You both are correct, too, in that it seems pretty easy to add mileage now…

Still ahead of pace to meet goal, another 3.6 mile jog today! Less than 10 miles to go for the month.

Another 4.0 miles completed tonight, crushing this goal!

Excited and nervous to try out something new. Reading a book called 80/20 Running that advocates doing 80% of your running at low intensity. Downloaded and accompanying app today that calculates what low intensity is for each person. As I expected, most of my runs were medium to high intensity. Ended up having to slow my…

Another 3.25 miles today. A little over 20 miles to go for the month.

Another 3.2 miles today!

Another run in the books, over half way to goal!

Another run in the books.

Coming down with a cold but still making progress!

Tried to go easy for 4 miles but ended up with a pretty fast time for me.

3.5 more miles. 17.63 for the month (Goal = 60 miles). Just a little behind pace for my goal for the month.

Lot's of great advice already. You are way ahead of where I was when I ran my first (and only) half last year. I disagree with the first reply that 2 hours is not realistic, since that is exactly what I ran mine in and in my training runs I was behind where you were at. I also only trained about 12 weeks total, building up…

Count me in for 60 miles! Thanks for setting this up! I need to lose about 25 pounds and have been running on and off for 4 years (on this time for the last 3 months. I usually run my training runs between 9:30-10 minute per mile pace.

I like the advice to concentrate on losing before training. I think I needed to hear that now as I've been struggling with trying to do both at the same time. I think I will try to keep running to maintain the fitness but not concentrate on improving times or distances until I lose the weight first.

This is a great topic, thanks for posting. While I did run my best times when I weighed 35 pounds less than I do now (in the 10k), my training times are just as good now and I have started running longer distances (half marathon and many more 10k's). That is not to say that I wouldn't much prefer weighing 35 pounds less…

Keep up the good work!

The longest distance I've done was 7.8 miles. I feel pretty good after my long runs, so I guess I'll just start trying to add distance each week (1 mile extra per week max?). thanks again, Matt

Thank you everyone for the advice. I will hold off on the half marathon and train for it. No sense getting hurt now that I'm really enjoying running! :)

Congratulations! My first time was 34:30 (about a year ago). Last night I finished 5k in just under 26:00. I'm signed up for a 10k September 17th. Keep up the great work!

What a transformation, you are awesome!

I vividly remember the journey from obese to overweight to normal. Keep at it. Great work!

I agree! LOL

Wow! You look even better now than you did then!

Just unbelievable, way to go!
