If her friend is going to Sidcup you are tied to trains that link with London Bridge, Waterloo East and Charing Cross or her friend will have in excess of a 40min commute. Going further South than Sidcup is likely to leave your daughter with a fairly lengthy commute. The big questions are how long either is prepared to…

 Cant beat St Ouens or St Brelades

Depending upon where your daughter is going to Uni you should also consider Bromley and Sidcup. renting will be cheaper, the areas better than Lewisham, but you will be restricted to bus and mainline train into London.

You have done an amazing job and thank you for the tips - good common sense stuff that is easy to forget and sometimes needs to be reinforced when there is such a deluge of highly detailed information coming at you from this and other sites/books/diets. etc Thank you

Drink a load of water - obesity and heart failure will quickly follow and none of us will have to get our hands dirty.

the energy expended in separating H2O into H2 and O using electrolysis would offset the energy released from burning the H2 and O. Net calories is therefore nil. Besides, I don't think the body does either

For all those on a man hating thing - I am not a man - honest! There you go, a solution (literally) to your dilemma And to follow, precede or even at the same time........ What's pink, lives in a hole and loves oral sex? . . . . . . .. it's a visual joke!

It's funny, I can see two camps in most of the responses here. Those comments that are made by people out of some ulterior motive (including spite, jealousy, and even flattery) and those that are made (most often by close family) out of love, wishing to reassure us that we are just great the way we are and should not worry…

Well done, that's are great result, the healthy eating habits and exercise get easier over time. btw love your profile pics showing what you have lost - excellent

Thanks Andy. that prompted me to take a look at their website. I was almost entirely wrong it seems. It's more like a very sophisticated pedometer! And quite pricey too though I haven't looked on Ebay for a second hand one. I can see how it could be useful but if they could combine it with a proper HRM I think you would…

@Mandy Thank you - struggling a bit more recently though, but wont give up

Well done - what a year. Hope you are as proud of yourself as you deserve and should be!

It is a heart rate monitor (HRM). They are used to track steps, heart rate and therefore calories burned. It's easy to measure calories consumed but very difficult to calculate what you are burning. The theory is that if you know what you are burning, you can adjust your intake, particularly when you are exercising and…

Hi Well up to recently I have been in the gym, altnernating between swimming and more general stuff. I was getting bored so have "borrowed" my Dad's bike and whilst keeping at the swimming have decided to join my wife, daughter and son at karate twice a week. I've done a couple of bike rides, nothing major. I have lost 3…

And then there were 10 members in the Kent group! Hi all

No but from what I have read, it seems the best of the available HRM's.

This and you have to ask yourself why he would prefer you fatter, less healthy, less happy and less confident?
-
I can understand why you are asking. If your BMR TDEE etc are based upon your current weight, if your current scales are weighing heavy there is a potential that your calorie targets are a bit too high and you may not achieve the loss you expect. The impact on your calorie targets should be marginal because you are…

Soups! You can pretty much make up whatever you want, calorie wise, protein wise, carbs wise, spice wise, so they can fit any diet or lifestyle you are trying to maintain. Recommend the Covent Garden Soup cookbook. Can be made in batches which is cost effective, freezing some and only take 2-3 mins to microwave.

Nice info - thank you That's less than a thousand calories for all ten - party time especially if you move onto shots afterwards!
-
and well done you
-
Nicely put, you could have shot from the hip. It's easy to say you don't have to drink but that is not what you asked. You asked for options. @Ednawhatnot - forgot about the exercise, want to drink more, see if you can fit in a bit more exercise!

In the main this, there are some good ideas here - thank you I have the self same problem. With a buffet what I also do is put the rationed food on my plate and walk away from the buffet. I then know that if I go back up to fill up everyone will be watching the fat bloke fill his plate again. That's often enough to deter…

@baz - Congrats on your yellow belt - I started this week after my son was awarded his first dan black belt. Couldn't put it off any longer! How have you found your calorie counts have measured up? @azwildcat - I bet you would be surprised at your calorie burn following an intense "warm up", following which you don't…
