  • Down ~5 lbs in this first week back to really watching what I eat and how much I'm moving. Good motivation to keep going.
  • Thanks everyone. Just me posting here in "public" makes me feel much more accountable for my decisions. I have recently found that rather than trying to do one long gym workout as I used to when I was commuting to work everyday I find it much easier with my work schedule to get a few 15-20 minute sessions in typically in…
  • From the experience my family members have told me with surgery is they typically require you to follow a pretty specific diet even before the surgery and want you to lose a certain amount of weight to prove you can maintain a healthy lifestyle so it has a better chance of working. I feel surgery is a tool but it is only a…
  • Only a few days in but I'm doing good. I have been on my bike or rowing machine each day for even 15 minutes if I didn't have much time. Eating is staying on track which is good. Just have to get back in all those good habits again.
  • Good luck to you as well. I have a NordicTrack rower and a weight set that was collecting dust for a while. I cleaned my garage so it is out in the open and much more enticing to use again.
  • I got divorced 3 months ago, it is quite lonely and trying to keep from going to food for comfort is difficult. I think as anyone else that has gone through divorce it will get better.
  • 4 years apart from these two pictures on vacation in Seattle. 350 down to 215
  • I have been using a Blaze for a week and a half and I love it so far. I always have my phone with me so it using the phone GPS wasn't a big deal. It seems to work well for weight lifting and for the stationary bike that I use (well regular bike on a trainer). For some reason I can't get it to work for notifications of…
  • I have lost a lot of weight but still have a bit more to be where I want to be. My family is not supportive at all. I believe the reasoning for this is jealousy. The rest of my family has gained weight and very unhealthy. When they see me now that I have lost 135ish pounds they tell me I look too skinny, I look unhealthy,…
  • I stopped losing weight after the first 80 or so pounds I lost and a trip to Hawaii. It was good in a sense that I was able to maintain that weight for about 2 years before jumping back in. I have lost about 70 pounds since then and am at that same point of just maintaining the weight again.
  • In the beginning I was eating ~2000 calories a day. I approached the food side first because I don't feel my body could handle a lot of exercise. Once I got the food plan down and eating right I started adding in cardio in the form of walks and riding a bike. I am now doing more weight lifting and trying to gain back some…
  • It is just an Microsoft Excel document that I created with weight and date each in a column then created a graph with that data and added a trend line. Very simple but it allows me to compare at any point month to month or week to week. I have kept it long enough that the trend line doesn't move much and so right now due…
  • These are about 4 years apart. ~325 down to ~230 Have another 40ish to go.
  • First pic was 350 just days before I started, second one is last month at ~230
  • Just found a picture of myself from around the time I was probably 360-375 before I started MFP. I just went clothes shopping and bought an XL button up shirt and 36 Levi jeans, took this pic last night. Pretty awesome comparison.
  • I don't know that I really plateaued but I lost the dedication. I started drinking again and that severely affects my weight loss. It was a big confidence boost to not gain anymore than 8 lbs or so from my lightest weight. Makes me realize that I must be on the right path and being doing the right things when I finally get…
  • I realized that I needed to do it for myself not for anyone else. I didn't care if anyone else was on board with it or not anymore. I wanted to be around to be able to enjoy playing with my kids, being around long enough to retire and enjoy life.
  • My guess is that you are turning your fat into lean muscle mass because of the heavy lifting. When I tend to start lifting weights my weight loss slows but I continue to lose inches. I would bet your body fat % is getting lower, that may be how you want to track.
  • I understand the unsupported feeling. This is a good time to learn how strong you can be. At 18 you are young, find out how strong willed you are. I bet you are stronger than you think. If you can't eat healthy than portion control. It is all about the small changes. Getting any sort of exercise will also clear the mind of…
  • 13 pages of comments in and I still feel the need to post. My grandfather had tongue cancer probably close to 20 years ago. They removed it from the back of his tongue and used part of the back of his thigh to replace the tissue. Sounds very similar to what you are going through. All you can do is feel like the best is…
  • Thank you everyone. I guess I need to figure out what my goals really are again. dthonator you are right I really need to be doing this for myself. I am just such a selfless person when it comes to anything. I even had a hard time buying myself clothes after all my old ones were so big they were falling off of me. I think…
