Higgs Boson or dark matter? Perhaps we simply haven't developed the correct tools yet for detecting paranormal activity?

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. It is a fallacy to make the argument "prove God doesn't exist." I could easily turn that around and say that I believe in little blue men who steal bread when you're not looking. I challenge you to prove that these little blue men do not exist. I would not go so far as…

While I agree with your sentiment that absence of proof does not necessarily lead to proof of absence, I have to take issue with the examples you used to support your position. Nobody ever had to accept "on faith" that the Earth wasn't flat or the center of the Universe. It was possible to scientifically prove both by…

There are two kinds of mothers in this world: the kind who would get completely trashed and start flashing her boobies in front of her 12-year old son and the kind that wouldn't. Do you honestly think anything you say can change one into the other?

I guess in the United States it's impossible for a gay person to make a commitment to his/her partner... since they can't get married and all...

Marriage is overrated.

Except that it doesn't burn *that* much more. Muscle burns roughly 6 calories per pound per day while fat burns 2. So even if you lost 20 lbs of fat and gained 20 lbs of muscle, you're looking at a net increase of 80 calories per day, or roughly one Oreo cookie. The most common estimates I've seen on the interwebz for…

Bluecoat makes a free home version called K9. I've been using it for years and it's excellent. http://www1.k9webprotection.com/

The program will force you to slow down. When I started I was running much faster during the run intervals, too. But once you're faced with running 20 minutes straight for the first time, you will find yourself naturally slowing down to pace yourself.... at least I did

You are not alone.

It depends on the level of your friendship. If you're truly close friends, then expressing concern over her health shouldn't upset her. If it does, well.... perhaps you are not really close friends after all.

If you're running 2.5 miles in 20 minutes, you do not need C25K. That's an 8-minute mile.

You know, every country has asshats....

Extreme milk chocolate FTW!

I eat three live chickens for breakfast... then I log the extra calories I burned because chasing down those chickens is hard work.

How much I can't wait until I'm done.

Thanks, I made it!! (29 min, 58 sec)

If your weight was EXACTLY the same (within 1/2 a pound) between two weighings a month apart, you are a statistical miracle. My weight fluctuates more than a pound between my morning wizz and breakfast.

1. Week 8, Day 2 (almost done!) 2. Yes. 3. If I can run for another minute or two, I do. 4. Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Every week. 5. No. 6. Just under 10 minute miles. I'm just a hair shy of hitting 5K in 30 minutes. Maybe I'll make it today

If your goal is weight loss, I would definitely stick to 30 minutes and try to improve your speed. I believe the most common advice I've seen in this regard would be interval training.

Congratulations!

This is the best NSV I've read on MFP. Thank you so much for sharing it.

I weigh myself every day and keep a 7-day rolling average. I feel this is much more accurate than "weigh once per week."

I lost weight (30 lbs) when I counted calories. I gained weight (30 lbs) when I stopped counting calories. I lost weight again (30 lbs) when I started counting calories again. I gained weight again (15 lbs) when I stopped counting calories again. I am losing weight again (12 lbs) now that I am counting calories... again...…

I followed the drop-down advice.. I actually work out for 30 minutes, 6 times per week (a combination of jogging and weight lifting). Based on their little app, my multiplier should be 1.7. In reality, it's closer to 1.3. I wonder if their simulator takes into consideration a drop in fat-free mass as well? Based on the 40…
