  • Yes, it is normal. You need to look at any loss at all as progress. Don't get discouraged even if you have weeks where you don't lose anything. Good luck on your journey.
  • Good luck to you. And I hope that spiteful girl gets warts.
  • I'm losing weight on 1500 with no strenuous excercise. I try to get a 30 minute walk every day and use handweights for a few minutes every night. It is working for me.
  • You are making it way too hard. Eat less and move more. That will work. I wouldn't try to change everything all at once. What works for me is usually eating the same thing every day for breakfast and lunch, but having variety with the evening meal. Do whatever work outs you enjoy, but don't overdo. And, yes, you need your…
  • sw 209 lw 193.5 cw 191 It seems like a good week for most people. Congratulations to everyone who is still in the challenge. We will do this.
  • I was doing it alone for several months, then last week my husband went to the doctor and his blood pressure was up. Doc tried to put him on blood pressure meds. So now, he is in it with me.... for however long it lasts. I am trying my best to help him stay on it. But if he gives up, I will stay the course. Good luck to you
  • If you set your activity level as sedentary on the BMR calculator, then yes, you should eat back your exercise calories.

  • spend some time reading the success threads to see how amazing their transformations are. It is totally possible to lose weight and get healthy. It won't be quick, it won't be easy, but it will be worth it. You are an adult now, and will find that in the adult world there is a lot less (but it does still exist) of that…

  • I had read that they exercise 5 to 6 hours a day. Not really doable in the real world.
  • If you want help, you are going to have to open your diary.

  • I would suggest eating more fruits and fresh vegetables and less processed snacks. Just because they don't have a lot of calories, does'nt make them good for you. For exercise, if you have a game system, try a dancing video. Or do you have access to a swimming pool to exercise in? Good luck on your weight loss journey.
  • Lost 3 pounds the first week. I have been averaging one pound a week since then. 19 pound total. I am happy with that.
  • My husband recently started a supplement called co q 10. It is supposed to help with blood pressure, but it has not been long enough to tell if it is going to help. But it's something you might check on.
  • I would imagine that there is someone who loves you and would be heartbroken to hear you say this. Today is the day to start changing the way you feel. There is a lot of good people on this site who would love to help you. Good luck.
  • A 2000 calorie day on occasion will not hurt you. It could even be beneficial to keep your metabolism from slowing down.
  • A sixty minute walk even at a slow pace is amazing. Good luck to you. MFP can be a great help to you. I have lost 18 pounds since Jan 1 and 45 minutes is the longest I ever walk. That and using hand weights at night while watching TV are my only exercise.
  • It's a great site. My advice would be to log "Everything" that you eat. If MFP put you on 1200 calories, then bump it up to at least 1400. Read the forums, there is a lot of great information on there. Take it slow and easy. I used it to lose 20 pounds last year, spent the winter gaining 18 of it back, and started again on…
  • Please see your doctor right away, before you lose even a pound. DM1 is not something you can play around with. If there is anyone on this planet who loves you, do it for them. Then after that, welcome to MFP. It is a wonderful site that can help you immensely. Good Luck.
  • on the food search, I put "butter pat'. It comes up as 36 calories, I think.
  • Congratulations !!
  • Hi. If you have a lot of free time on your hands, you can spend it reading the thousands of posts on this site where people could not lose weight because they weren't eating enough. After increasing the calories, they begin to lose weight. For myself, I started on 1200 calories and lost a pound a week, but I was hungry all…
  • Ok. So you need to lose 215 pounds. If you don't do something, then next year you will need to lose 230 pounds. You don't have to lose it all at once. Look at some of the success stories where they post pictures along the way. Every 30 or 40 pounds makes a big difference. It will make an even bigger difference to your…
  • The thing that helped me the most was increasing my calories to a point where I was not hungry but was still losing weight. That has allowed me to stay on the program.
  • With your health issues you need to get the opinion of your doctors instead of us. But just based on your profile pic, you don't look like you should be considering this. Consult a registered dietician to devise a diet for you.
  • Thanks, but I gave those up a long time ago. I was curious if anyone else has had a problem.
  • It that is your BMR then 1500 is definately too low. I would go back to 1800. I wish you all the best. You said you had a diabetes scare. That is serious, so I hope you can stay focused. There is a lot of support and information on this site.
  • If you were losing at 1800 calories, why did you cut down to 1500? I would go back to 1800 for a few weeks. Have you calculated your BMR?
  • SW 209 LW 194.5 CW 193.5 Slow and steady wins the race. I hope. I would like to be losing faster, but at least I am losing. Good luck to everyone.
  • You aren't eating enough to lose weight. You will have to up your calorie intake. I know it's hard, but I started out at 1200 a day and lost a pound a week, but I was hungry. Then I went to 1400 and was more satisfied and still lost a pound a week. Now I am eating 1400-1600 and still losing a pound a week. Good luck.
