  • Yes that’s true. Clean eating and weight training is still giving me the same rate of weight loss when I was hoping for more. I agree life is too short and one cannot sustain boring meals. I do eat within a hundred calories of my target. If I can’t on some days, I eat more the next to make up for it. I suppose if the meals…

  • Thank you all for your comments. I used to be 107kg in 2012 when I started, in one year I went down to 92kg. Fell into old habits so gained it all back and more. Tried again and brought it down to 94kg and gave up. Now this is my third time of trying really hard. I started exercising last year but didn’t reduce my…

  • It is not used in UK at all. So I am not sure why people are taking it in US. I am very surprised about it. Only medicine which is recommended is Orlistat.
  • Thanks djatk. I knew about all of them apart from melon and fish oils. Its good to know that they can boost metabolism as well. Its great to have all this info in one place for reference purpose. A few points about chillies. They not only increase metabolic rate but also cause early satiety so that you do not eat more.…
  • Thanks for that, I will use that website a lot now. ;-) Thanks once again.
  • Ok I read in one of the other threads over here a quick recipe for chocolate cake and I am thankful to the person who originally posted it. I have changed it a bit and here it goes. Ingredients: 1: Egg 2: Cocoa powder 3: Baking powder 4: Cinnamon powder ( you can use artificial sweeteners if you want but I don't like them…
  • Thanks for that. Do you use them as meal replacements or for snacks. I am not sure if I should still eat after having a protein shake. I have thought about mixing it with my breakfast cereal and Greek Yoghurt.
  • Sometimes stress anxiety and depression can case symptoms like these. I would suggest to see your doctor. I hope all goes well with your husband. Take good care of yourself.
  • You can lose up to 4 pounds in two weeks which is a healthy way of losing weight. Anything more is an anomaly and it gets back on really quick. One thing that you could try is to eat foods which have diuretic affects like strawberries, Melon, drinks lot of coffee as well and hope for the best. One thing to watch out for is…
  • Wow that is perseverance. You have done very well. I also think that artificial sweeteners taste like plastics. You look amazing, keep it up.
  • I just made it but with a bit of variation. I used cinnamon instead of splenda and did not use any baking powder. I just put a couple of almonds on the top with a slight drop of honey and a sprinkle of cinnamon and WAllah!! it was heaven. My wife could not believe it. Thanks for making my day. Take care.
  • You are right that eating less calories will help you lse weight but this is not about calories. It's to do with artificial sweeteners that they have and the dangerous effects of them.
  • It's scary what diet pop can do. Take a look at this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_dj8L_i0mo&sns=em I am not having one ever!
  • Thanks for raising a very important point. Diabetes and metabolic syndrome are idiopathic, which means that experts have not pinpointed the causative agent for these health problems. What they have unearthed by reaserch is associated risk factors. Why those risk factors predispose some one to have metabolic syndrome or…
  • Well we are all free to do what we want with our bodies. I am just regurgitating what I have learnt about diet and health in the last few months that I am trying to be healthy. Take a look at this as well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3wUYhJmdbA&sns=em This video is about dangers of diet soda especially the artificial…
  • Here is the link for that article. http://www.rodale.com/diet-soda-and-diabetes Fizzy drinks, alcohol, spicy food, citrus fruits, peppermint, tomatoes, smoking and stress, all are factors which increase acid production in the stomach.
  • You are right that it is a risk factor for diabetes not the causing factor. Having said that diabetes occurs because of accumulation of these risk factors. There is no virus or bacteria that causes it. Overall diet has to be good as well. Eating too much and not exercising at all is also a risk factor for it. Then you have…
  • So here is what I have learnt in a short time of 26 days that I have been trying to lose weight. You need to eat in order to trick your body to avoid "Starvation Mode". If you are eating less calories than your body needs to run its basic functions, then your body will become thrifty and will save everything by cutting…
  • Here is the link, Diet Soda causes diabetes. http://www.rodale.com/diet-soda-and-diabetes Here is a brief summary: "Downing calorie-free pop could have the unappetizing consequence of increasing your risk of developing diabetes, according to a new study published in the journal Diabetes Care. Researchers looked at…
  • Diet fizzy drinks do not give you any calories but they can cause indigestion and excessive acidity in your stomach. That will hinder your digestive abilities. I read somewhere that they are associated with increased risk of diabetes as well->cannot find the article at present. I will post a link for it. When I switched…
  • That is great advice, I have started eating pistachios and almonds as well as Greek Yoghurt, I have changed my nutrients that I follow to include sugar iron and calcium and found that I was having hardly any calcium at all! Thanks once again for that wealth of information. Take care.
  • Thanks for that, I have readjusted my activity level and calories as per BMR. I am eating more and it is great :) I am trying to snack more on nuts as they are calorie dense but easy to eat (i.e. you don't have to cook them). I am feeling much better, drinking more water. I have an obsession of weighing myself daily…
  • Im stuck at my weight for the last few days and I noticed that sugars in my diet were above my MFP daily allowance. Most of it came from fruits that I was eating throughout the day. I have been trying to eat more proteins but have not done any regular workouts lately. I will start again and mix my routine as you suggested.…
  • You need to stay focused over the weekend. Do not lose sight of your goal. When I am at my low point, I come on MFP and read success stories and see lots of photos. That motivates me to stay put during weekend as well. Find something that works for you and stick to it. Most important of all, do not lose heart. Do not give…
