  • I'm not sure how to link you to it but there is a Paleo group as well.
  • So fun, saw the review on TheClothesMakeTheGirl and bought that day. Still on mission 1 but enjoy it, takes my mind off the general suckiness of running. I keep getting caught by the Zombs though! I'll be stoked on the day I outrun them :)
  • Not sure how much you already intake but upping your water will help with the soreness as well, or so my trainer says and I feel a difference. I know the feeling, I've actually gotten mild rhabdo before, so painful and scary. He recommends half you body weight in pounds, drink that number in ounces. Icing after helps too.…
  • Blood sugar crashes are a thing of a past too. As far as tips: The biggest thing that has helped us is to plan out dinners and make extra for lunch the following day. Saves us money and the scramble of what to pack/buy for lunch.
  • My hubby and I did the 30 day strict Paleo starting early Feb and have relaxed a bit since then (cheese and yogurt for me, he doesn't tolerate the dairy as well). We've had a few cheat days and felt pretty awful after. We've both lost body fat and inches (two belt holes for him) and our IBS symptoms have dissapeared,…
  • Try Fage Plain, so thick and creamy and wonderful!
  • Well, it started last night and yesterday was a full rest day, had been riding around running errands. I'm eating plenty today but yesterday was a late and light lunch (errands) this could be it, just thought it would have resolved by this morning or afternoon.
  • yum, I don't see why not. You've hit all they biggies it seems. I've been told to eat some protein and fat pre and some fruit post.
  • I'm not dissing most of what you are saying but I whill hedge to bet the many people with Celiac, IBS, and heartburn (diagnosed and undiagnosed, many have symptoms and don't know the underlying causes) who benefit from removing grains from their diet would argue pretty vehemently that not all of us have evolved to tolerate…
  • It does, I felt the same way at first! I still go more often than when I was chronically dehydrated (obviously). I have noticed that if I slack off a day or two and then push it again the frequent urge comes back. More motivation to stick with it everyday.
  • I need to eat them more too for all their great fats! Have a hard time just eating right out of the rind though. Tried making avocado ice cream the other night... not so good. Crack an egg in the pit whole and bake until egg cooked through. Very yummy, need to make this again. I did it without a cover and it was hard to…
  • Using an abmat or folding a towel to approx. 2" inch thickness and placing under your lower back when doing sit ups helps hit the lower abs that are so hard to get, you'll feel it all the way down to your pubic bone the next day.
  • Yay, an advantage over the guys :)
  • Aha, that makes sense :)
  • Three on and one off (rest) has been recomended to me and has been working well with regard to recovery and injuries. Usually combo, but some days more metabolic conditioning, some more straight strength. This doesn't fit into a 7 day week very well however, your days will always be off week to week. And I often end up…
  • My 6 pack shows and I'm in the 20% range, (22% as of march 1, a drop from 26% Jan 1). Not sure where the 10% number comes from. Granted it would be showing a lot more when I drop a few more %. Mine came out strong with the weightlifting and full body exercises in CrossFit and eating clean/paleo.
  • Thanks everyone for the great responses! Some of them hilarious. I have to admit I didn't read them all though, I got on this morning and was shocked when it said how many replies!
  • I wanted to see what people thought was better for weight loss and overall health
  • I didn't see where she said anything about carbs, you can get all the carbs you need from fruits and veggies. The "bad guy" is not carbs, it is the biochemical properties of grains and our consequent leaky gut and chronic inflammatory response. (for many people)
  • I'm going to disaagree with both of you. I'd suggest for anyone to read any of these academic papers. http://thepaleodiet.com/published-research The idea that our ancestors lived short brutal lives so we shouldn't look at our own evolutionary biology is an uneducated cop out slogan. Yes, many died young from injuries, but…
  • This. It's taken me many years to give up wishing I had someone elses tummy, hips, butt, arms, etc. I have come to terms with my general bone structure and genetics. That being said I am motivated by fit women, but I just imagine how those muscles would look on ME. Not how I wish I could look like her. I want to be the…
  • Hot MAMA! I get that you want to please your husband but good grief he needs to suck it up and be SO thankful for all that you have done and do for him. I'm betting he has his own insecurities with such a hot wife and he's trying to make himself feel better by focusing on your few or imagined flaws. I wouldn't even call…
  • A good rule of thumb is to stick to the outside of the grocery store. Avoid processed foods. Eat REAL food. I'm not sure about the specifics though, from the website it looks like they want you to buy the book to get exact foods.
  • I went with a quality liquid fish oil to bump up my Omega-3's. This is the brand my gym carries. No fish burps and I actually like the tangerine flavor. You can get a high dose this way without taking so many pills. I do a teaspoon a day. A little pricey for the bottle but it lasts a long time. I keep it in the fridge but…
  • exactly, lifestyles do.
  • An excellent academic paper to read for those with the short and brutal life argument. Addresses other dismissive concerns as well. Here is the Abstract, link to the full paper. Don't throw out a potentially lifesaving lifestyle over some preconceptions, let's see the research unfold. The proposal that Late Paleolithic…
  • I've been on a NorCal Margarita kick lately. I think it's the warmer weather :) clear tequila (Espolon is my fave brand, not too pricey either), soda water (just fizzy water), juice of one lime, all on ice and I sprinkle a little sea salt on top. Very simple, you can ask the bartender to make easy. Here's a link to a…
  • I think we are getting a little off track here, Paleo isn't necessarily about fat loss. I do love all the work to the energy balance equation he's done to make it make sense. What is not accounted for however is our hormonal response to different types of foods and how our body uses and stores the calories we consume. And…
  • Awesome, haven't bought one yet myself, pricey, but we have big PVC pipes cut down at the gym. A cheaper DYI
