I log every single calorie, I weigh every single piece of food. I track carbs more than calories, but I still log my calories very carefully. I have learned if I go over a certain amount of calories I stall, and being diabetic my carbs each day are what raises my BG so must be logged extra carefully.

What is keto-adaptation? Keto-adaptation is the process of shifting your metabolism from relying mostly on glucose for fuel, to relying mostly on fat-based sources of fuel. Not only does fat oxidation itself increase, but your body starts producing enough ketones that they can be used as a significant source of fuel as…

Oh my gosh... What an amazing transformation. Congratulations on all you have achieved. Beautiful lady, with a beautiful family. Well done.

:flowerforyou: I advocate a diet or way of eating that is right for the individual, I never try to push my choices onto anyone else. I also don't advocate zero carbs as this would mean completely removing all fruit (even though I only eat berries) and veggies, and that would be very wrong. One fantastic zero carb food that…

I am English and live in the NE of England.

Hello all, I'm Joanna.

I eat ultra low carb Primal, and I honestly think people are very afraid of the high fat part of a low carb diet. The majority of my calories are fat, and saturated fat to boot, but I have read thousands of articles, journals, scientific reviews, peer reviews etc, etc, and have made up my own mind. :smooched: For me LCHF…

Most of my calories are made up of fat, and saturated fat at that. I have lost 102 pounds in 12 months, eating ultra low carb primal for around 8 months. Ignore the MFP macro's they really are not set up for us. :-)

I am way over today too, not with chocolate or candy, but Hot cross buns (I live in the UK, and they are Easter treats). Do I care? Not a jot. Tomorrow I will be back on my diet as if today had never happened. Dust yourself down and look forward, if I look back, you can bet you boots I will trip over something and land on…

I have some research somewhere I will try to find it and post it. Ketosis is a good state to be in, I found my body runs so much better since I went into ketosis, many, many months ago. I believe the problem is, people hear ketosis and panic, but ketosis is fine, ketoacidosis is not. T1 Diabetics who have high levels of…

I am not a food addict, but oh boy, I know it's real enough. I have a family member who was addicted to food. As fast as the cupboards and fridge were full she would empty them, it caused so much heartache within our family. Thankfully she now has a much better relationship with food, but that is only after a lot of very…

This is all very true - well said!! I have lost 102 pounds on a low carb then ultra low carb Primal diet in 12 months, and I'm still here, tons of energy and my brain is working just fine.

I have completed my diary for today (I am in the UK). I didn't have any chocolate, or candy, but I did eat way more than I usually do, and I have also logged every last calorie. My diary makes me accountable to myself, so I personally can't see the point in hiding what you have eaten. For most, if not all of us it's only…

I'm Sooooooooooo pleased I'm not the only one who has gone a little bit crazy today. Hope you all had a very happy Easter.

I'm afraid it has turned out to be one, even though it wasn't planned. I am over on just about all my macro's, but you know what? I don't care. I stick to my diet every day, never go over (I did Christmas day) so I really don't mind. I doubt I will gain any weight and I have enjoyed my naughty treats. A once in a while…

In one of our on-line newspapers in the UK today was this article: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2301135/15-WORST-health-drinks-Orange-juice-Innocent-smoothies-sugar-13-Hobnobs-3-half-doughnuts.html I think this is a major problem, we eat and drink what we believe are healthy choices, to find out later they are…

I am an ultra low carber, so m opinion is bias toward my own thinking. :-) I believe if you up your carbs to go back to the kind of levels you were eating before your diet, yes, you will gain the weight. Atkins suggests upping your carbs little by little until you gain, then dropping them down, to what is your level. That…

I wish you all the luck in the world. I know, and so do you that you can do this. Thankfully I am past child bearing, so know I don't have that to think about, but also I don't have a wee one to laugh and share my journey with, mine are teenagers now. Please keep us posted on your progress, you really are a very special…

I eat less than 25g of net carbs a day. I get mine from veggies, berries and nuts.

I don't eat any wheat or grains at all as I eat Primal. I love this way of eating, my whole body feels strong and healthy again. I also ultra low carb (less that 25g a day) and at 47 I don't look nor feel my age. Well done on trying this. Edit to correct my bad typing <blush>

This is not true. I have been low carb, now Primal ultra low carb for a year, and I am healthier than I have ever been and have more energy than I know what to do with. I do agree that you must eat, try small amounts often, that might help. try something with a little fat like cheese, it will help give you some of the…

Hubby and eldest eat what I make, I don't eat carbs so they don't either. My husband is a fitness fanatic and can grab something if he needs it after his workout. My youngest although 13 would starve rather than eat my low carb diet, so I have to make her something else. I cook from scratch every meal, dinner is usually…

I did low carb to begin with, I now eat very low carb Primal. I have lost over 100 pounds in a year but I do have to count calories, my daughter doesn't. Some of us it seems do have to count 'em, others don't. Give it a wee bit of time, you should have quite a large drop after a week 10 days or so, all water weight, then…

I've lost 102 pounds and have around 14-20 to go. I have some loose skin, it's not major but it's there. I went round the internet looking for help and one article I found said if you massage the area with en exfoliator it helps. I got an shower cream with exfoliator and started to do that, and I also read that aloe vera…

I eat Fage full fat Greek yogurt with berries, flax and chia seeds every day. I also eat almonds every day, and coconut oil. My day is not complete without those things.

I would love to garden as I eat loads and loads of veggies, but sadly we don't have the space here. We are looking for a new house and have agreed it has to have lots of land. Just the thought of pulling up my own fresh organic veggies is making my mouth water. :-)

Here is a web page that lists some of the health benefits of coconut: http://www.coconutresearchcenter.org/ If you go to the left hand side there is a button for medical research papers.

I don't drink English breakfast tea, even though I am English and live in England :-) I adore Earl Grey and I also adore green organic Chai tea from Yogi teas, I add freshly squeezed lime or lemon juice to the chai tea, sooo good.
