  • There is nothing I can add to this, it sums up my own research perfectly. Coconut oil is used as energy and not stored as fat, it along with Ghee and Lard are not bad for us at all. My dietary intake is made up mainly with sat fats, then protein, then carbs. I am T2 diabetic though.
  • I'm not a gardener but I am a T2 diabetic :-)
  • I tried Raspberry ketones while on my diet and they didn't do anything for me. I am not taking them now, and am losing weight at the same pace I was while on them. I wouldn't waste money on them to be honest.
  • I add a huge spoonful to my morning coffee, I can't eat breakfast but the coconut oil gives me the energy to get through until lunch. I also use it as a hair mask and body and face cream. I buy organic cold pressed 100% coconut oil, it's a little more expensive but so worth it. My three dogs have a teaspoon full as well…
  • I am very relieved I live in the UK, GMO crops are banned in Europe, at least for the time being.
  • I eat Primal (Paleo with dairy) I have eaten this way for 6-8 months and I love it. I can't see me ever going back to grains, and I have to keep my carbs very, very low anyway as I am diabetic. I do think it's a little easier here in the UK as most if not all of our meat is grass fed anyway. Good luck with this way of…

  • Carbs - to make sure I eat as few of them as possible. I am T2 diabetic.
  • Some of us have no choice but to be restrictive due to health issues, I am one of those people. However, it's unfair to say we are smug, I am not in the slightest smug, nor do I try to push my diet onto anyone else. I am happy to discuss my diet and share tips and help if I can, but you are lumping an entire group of…
  • I eat them every day. I use them more for nutrition than satiety as I also don't notice any real difference. I have them with Greek yogurt, berries and flax.

  • Almost the same, I have to have Greek yogurt, berries, flax and chia seeds every day, it is something I really look forward to and is my staple lunch. This evening for dinner I am having smoked haddock, I love fresh fish with steamed veggies - mmmm.
  • I can't eat rice or quinoa so I grate cauliflower, it's much nicer than it sounds as a substitute for rice. :-)
  • Hi, yes, I have had amazing results on the keto diet. In 12 months I have dropped 102 pounds and it was so easy. I struggle with calories every day, but I'm not worried, at least not at this point. If I stalled for a while then maybe, I think the longest I have stalled is 2-3 weeks. I then was really bad and had a huge…

  • England UK.
  • Hello everyone. I am 47 I have two teenage daughters, I live in the UK but hubby is or was a CA surfer dude :-) We go to the States each year to visit his family and I love it. I have a story I hope will offer some inspiration to all you lovely ladies, it's a bit long, so sorry in advance :-) In March 2012 after being very…
  • We have hardly any other ethnic groups where I live, but we still have it in Sainsbury's. We don't have any Indian shops anything like that :-(
  • I get mine from Sainsbury's if I run out, it's in the aisle with all the cooking oils, on the top shelf. It is more expensive from there, so I usually buy mine from Ebay, I pay £9.90 for a large tub. I eat quite a bit so it lasts me around two weeks, but I do eat a lot. I missed my delivery this morning and have run out…
  • That is also my plan. Since March last year I have lost 102 pounds, I still have a wee way to go, but I will maintain here as well. Anyone feel free to friend me, I log every day, but I will warn you I eat Primal very low carb :-)
  • I'm afraid I don't, I share yours :-) I eat grass fed meat and organic produce (I believe it's easier to get organic meat, poultry and produce here in the UK). The only things I eat with more than one ingredient are cheese, Greek yogurt and I had some pate yesterday and today to help boost my rather low calories.
  • I also eat clean, but I still log everything. I do it to keep an eye on my carbs (I love nuts) and also because as I am losing weight I am eating less and it's interesting to have my weight loss on record like this. I would log at least for a while, clean doesn't automatically mean you can't overeat, actually, the food…
  • Yup, me too. I don't eat any grains at all, but I love eggs, I have had two hard boiled today. Dietary cholesterol will not effect your total cholesterol. I have mine done quite often and mine are fine. Enjoy your eggs, they're soo good for you.
  • Here you go: http://www.eattoyourmeter.org/forum/index.html As the name suggests, all diabetics should eat to their BG meter, if you do that you can learn what foods and in what quantity your body works best, and keep your diabetes in check. No one wants complications, they are horrendous, so eat to your meter if you are…
  • This is true. If you are Insulin resistant or pre diabetic by reducing your carbs you can reverse things. I am part owner of a diabetes forum where we do have pre diabetics, and I have read up using many articles about Insulin resistance. For the general populace, lowering carbs can help with weight loss, but as I said…
  • I wish I were 20 something :-) I am considerably older and female, and yes, this would suit a diabetic mostly. A non diabetic could eat the same as I do, but I would suggest that like me, they do see a Doctor at least quarterly, just to be on the safe side. :-)
  • To me carbs are evil, but I am a T2 diabetic. I eat around 20g of carbs a day in the form of fruit and veggies. I make up my calories with natural foods, meat, fish, dairy, nuts, seeds etc. I eat a LOT of saturated fat <shock horror> along with my very low carb diet and in 54 weeks I have lost 102 pounds, as a very nice if…
  • This is how I view it except I do see it as a lifestyle, but I am T2 diabetic. This way of eating keeps my BG in check (I have normal HbA1c readings) and gives me energy, helps me sleep and eased a lot of health issues I have/had. I don't think anyone should be badgered into any diet, people should try things out, find…
  • I've snipped this a little :-) The above is so true for me. If I get up and eat anything, I am hungry all day. I gave up on breakfast a long time ago. I do have morning coffee with a very large scoop of pure virgin cold pressed organic coconut oil, but that's about it. By having the coconut oil I can skip lunch if I have…

  • Yes, sorry I didn't express what I meant properly. A 5:2 fast didn't work as I obsessed over food, where doing it as I am now means I don't obsess. While they are I guess a form of fasting, they work very differently for me and how I feel.
in fasting?? Comment by Defren March 2013
  • That isn't strictly true, I tried IF last year, I am T2 diabetic and initially did the Newcastle diet which is 4 weeks of just shakes then four weeks of shakes and 200 calories of green veg. You can look up the diet, it was devised by a university professor for T2 diabetics, with the aim to help us lose weight and defat…

  • Me too!! I have the full fat version though and I have it with a mixture of berries, flax and chia seeds. I have it almost every day, it's my absolute favourite meal.
