  • Thank you, Beeps! A little reassurance goes a long way. : )
  • Thanks, everyone! It's good to know I don't have to drink a nasty, sludgy protein shake after my workout because it's just been sitting there...waiting...and waiting. LOL ; )
  • Dewgirl - THANK YOU!!! I am i'll over anything that is going to aid in making me stronger and fitter. Def. going to get both of those suggested supplements. Question: Does the super pump max have *alot* of caffeine? Because of a heart issue I avoid very much caffeine, as a rule. Don't do coffee except VERY rarely, do…
  • Thanks, Ladyace! : )
  • Dewgirl - I eat 150 grams of protein daily. I don't take any BCAA's...what is that? And what is xtend? LOL!
  • Lucia - Thank you for that tip. I will definitely figure that number! Guava - Thank you! Somehow I missed that section on 2 workouts per week being okay. I feel much better now! Ladyace - I stretched ALOT this last workout, and while I'm sore, I'm not in excruciating pain. I can't do cardio on the same day I lift (rules of…
  • You guys are awesome! These all look so good! I can't wait to try them out. I recently made ground turkey baked burritos and they were sooooooo delicious - my hubby said they tasted better than our local burrito joint. Now I'm anxious to try lots of recipes using ground turkey!
  • Bump for later. : )
  • I'm doing 40% carbs, 30% fat and 30% protein. That's almost all I see recommended on here when people are wanting to put on muscle/burn fat. Choose healthy choices, obviously. If you follow those ratio's and plug them into MFP it will figure the appropriate amount of protein for you. Just be SURE you're choosing enough…
  • I love to add a scoop of protein powder to my oatmeal. Makes it very tasty and is a good balance of carbs and protein. You could also add some crushed nuts for the fat. : )
  • Love it, love it, love it!!! You are awesome and I am SO getting that gadget! LOL! : )
  • I am not good with the scale. AT all. Over the years I have bought into the sick, twisted lie that small numbers mean that I am beautiful. Ha! I have allowed the unattainable media ideal of beauty to become my reality. Because I know that the scale has the power to completely depress me I promised myself to NOT get on the…

  • BCAA and Glutamine are things I can get at the health food store? I haven't heard of them before. I don't have any tylenol, so ibuprofen will have to do. At least for tonight. Thank you for the tips!
  • I worked out - and I'm paying for it. MAJOR pain in my quads, where I can barely get up the stairs or off the couch or bend down. I actually had to modify my workout because the pain got so intense in the gym that I thought I would cry (NOT good for the cool "rep" you want to have at the gym!). Crossing my fingers that…
  • Oh, boy...I am seriously worried I overdid it. I can barely move, and as the workout progressed today the pain got so bad I had to stop for fear of crying in the gym (SO not cool). : ( I warmed up on the stationary bike and then did lots of stretches and took my time through the workout. My quads are the real problem. I…
  • Thanks so much to you all! I don't mind working through the pain at all. Just don't want to be lifting if I should be waiting. I appreciate the "green light" to lift. I would totally do the cardio after lifting, but the guidelines for NROL4W say that's a no-no, so I won't. Maybe I'll do an epsom salt bath tonight and yoga…
  • I am going to stick with moderate activity, I think. There's no way I would have adequate energy to do the lifting without the extra calories. Thanks everyone for your help! : )
  • Ahhh...that stinks! I am eating 2000 calories now (that includes the 15% cut), based upon my previous workouts (moderate activity level). If I do light activity level (because of this new workout plan) my calories will be at 1773 with the 15% cut. And I'm still hungry at 2000 calories. That stinks...I thought the days of…
  • So glad to see this post! I had a girls weekend and my eating was AWFUL! This post helped me to stop freaking out and not be tempted to pull back for a couple days on my calories. : )
  • Coco-Puff, My bulging disc was about ten years ago. My scoliosis is mild. The nice things is that my back pain has gone away since I started working out - my chiropractor actually suggested working out as physical therapy for my back and he was totally right. There are certain things I can't do, like regular sit-ups - too…
  • The show was great and the popcorn was yummy. I did have a diet coke, but I very, very rarely do diet soda and don't drink regular soda's anymore. I cut out ALOT of sugar that I was eatingwhen I started getting healthier about 2.5 months ago and after I did that sugary soda's made me feel sick after I drank them. Typically…
  • After changing a few dietary choices for my late-afternoon snack and dinner, I'm going to get to eat a kids size popcorn and have a small diet coke. I'll be 95 calories over on my daily goal, 30 grams under on my carbs and 19 (yikes!) grams over on my fat, BUT I'm only one gram away from my protein goal. I guess I have to…
  • Thanks, ladies. I am definitely going to hit my macro's today...just worried about going over in calories. A small popcorn is 400 calories! And the butter...well, I won't even go into the fat grams - it's pretty bad. Not sure yet if I'm going to bite the bullet and do a small popcorn and diet coke or try to take something…
  • Thank you for the help - Polar it is! : )
  • Thank you for that info, Coco_Puff! I am taking today off, and will do yoga over the weekend, then (hopefully) start NROLFW on Tuesday. Holy cow - I'm excited but scared. I have scoliosis and have had a bulging disc before. I hope I can do all the weight lifting with no injuries!
  • Allic1971: I haven't read the book yet (going to start it this weekend). I've been doing 45 minutes of a whole-body weight routine on machines (doing ascending pyramids with my weights to try to max my muscles out) and 25 minutes of moderate cardio immediately after. I do this every day, Tuesday - Saturday. Based on your…
  • All of this input from you ladies means a lot to me. I struggle with that compulsive/strict inner voice every time I try to "get healthy"...it led me down an unhealthy path of deprivation and near-anorexia 8 years ago, and when I realized how unhealthy I was living, I stopped fitness cold turkey. No more exercising, no…
  • That makes so much sense, Lillebanon. Thank you so much for the assistance - I sometimes need a fresh perspective for the light bulb to go on. Thank you! : )
  • I would LOVE to enjoy an ice cream bar or something LOL! I'm just worried that I should never go over on my carbs or fats (somehow I think that going over on my proteins is okay). Is it okay to cheat a bit and have that mini splurge that sends you over on carbs and/or fats if it helps you reach your calorie goal?
