Recently have had wonky gps from runtastic and map my run. Days where I run 12MPH while skipping back and forth over large buildings. I even left my superman socks and cape at home and it still happened. So no recs there. Slow down. Read ThickMcRunFast's post on So You Want To Start Running for the best running advice for…

I am not a seasoned runner, having only run for one year or so. Running is great for cardiovascular fitness and many people, including myself, have pushed too hard once the heart pounding, chest pain and the heavy breathing is behind us, only to find out that our muscles, tendons, ligaments, and bones haven't adapted to…

OP: you know how I told you to join the long distance running group. One of the reasons is this guy. Listen to him.
-
Yes. Ever since I began running seriously I am ever hungry.
-
Many people have given you very good advice here, with the caveat that one year may not be enough time to build the body you need for a full marathon. Please just consider what advice they are giving and not on the perceived tone of the post. I think you have an admirable goal. Again, good luck and don't get injured.

Thanks Dave. I give up trying to update this on my iphone. Need a real computer.
-
Bump. Still still needs to be pinned.
-
Look up Hal Higdon and Jeff Galloway. They have training plans for a full marathon. Join the long distance running group. Look up the topic "so you want to start running" posted by ThickMcRunFast. And build up mileage slowly, but start now! Great goal. Just don't hurt yourself.

If I quit the first time I ran because I couldn't make it 100 yards without stopping, I would not have gotten to where I am today. I have a 58 min PR for a 10K and a 27:40 min PR for a 5K. I have run as long as 8 miles without stopping, and am signed up for a 10 mile race in October. I have been running for a year. It took…

Hi Varda, Week 2 goal met. Ha! I wasn't late, this week anywhoo????
-
All that and only 2500 calories? I thought I was "good" at the Cheesecake Factory and ended up with 1700 calories. Forget it, and move on-->most importantly, plan the next day when you are crazy busy, stressed, and unable to get a real meal. Bring healthy food to snack on, or always pack a lunch that you would want to eat…

No--but sjogrens vs. scleroderma. Still deciding which doc to believe.
-
Love it. Only gained weight when I ate too much.

Thanks Dave, I was thinking that the apps worked fine for me but in the last week they have been failing miserably. I ran today using map my run and runtastic. Distances were off by over a mile on one and 1/2 mile on the other (a route I have taken many times before), and runtastic had me running my first mile at 6:30…

That is an irresponsible dog owner and I would press charges, no question. Glad you were ok.
-
My weight loss stopped when I started running seriously because I am so dang hungry all the time.
-
I liked the Ocala Running of the Donuts. Probably because it was so small that I placed 3rd in my age group after I began running 3 weeks prior. I think I got 44 minutes for the 5K.

You seem to be overdoing it. Your cardiovascular conditioning will adjust to exercise faster than your joints, ligaments, tendons, and muscles. And that is in healthy people. You already have inflammation from your disease. You need to back off. Do other exercises like bike, swim, elliptical, weight training. and read…

Bump. Runtastic going nuts on me occasionally over the past week. Worst was today.
-
I would press charges. Even if nothing comes of it, it will be on record that the dog is viscous. I have been bitten twice by dogs after being attacked. A friend was attacked last month by a pack of 3 dogs. It happens too often.

bump...to try tomorrow
Interestingly, this problem seems to mostly affect people under 40.
That is because pre-existing heart conditions are usually from birth. Anomalous coronary artery, long q-t syndrome, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (athough this typically shows up after infancy). Screening doesn't always pick these up…

Albuterol stopped being generic in the US in MDI form anyway when they phased out CFC's. The only cheap generic is via the nebulizer.
-
That is rather concerning---please budget for a doctor's appointment or find a free health clinic. People die from untreated asthma. Sorry to be morbid, but it happens.
-
Dave, I would never wait that long to e-file--you never know when they will reject it and it could take up to 2 days to find out! Ok, so I am kind of paranoid that way..

I was a nonrunner when I started one year ago. It took me a month before I was able to run for a full mile. Then I went overboard and got runner's knee. Dr told me I may have arthritis (I don't) and ortho said to stop running if it kept hurting after physical therapy, which it did. I didn't listen and decided on personal…

You have yourself a wonderful husband.
-
Perhaps you should have a plan on what do you when you see that red line that is more constructive--like take a walk, or bike, or some other enjoyable exercise. In the long run that would be more conducive to getting into shape and feeling good about yourself.
-
Sorry Varda--yes I met my goal :embarassed:

I do this but divide by the total weight of the finished product. Then I serve myself XX amount of grams--> therefore XX servings. MFP calculates everything for me. If I say 6 servings, I don't know if my 1 serving is actually 1/6th of the total (other family eats the rest), so I like to do it my way. If you are the only…
