Congratulations! That is awesome.

Well done! I love reading race reports.

Immediately. I can't run after I eat->cramps. Need at least 2 hours, sometimes more before I can run. Also, I haven't a clue what you were talking about regarding the calorie thing. You burn what you burn, and you eat what you eat.
-
Not that I know of, but I wear earphones and listen to books when I run, so generally I am paying attention to the story.

I declined a friend request of a user I de-friended due to disordered eating, she had 600+ friends and was posting seriously low intake as well as discussing her goal which was quite underweight and in my opinion very unhealthy. I also accidentally declined a friend request on my iphone. I generally accept all friend…

That is so cool!

Carson, with as much as you run, your "trial" shoes would be worn out well before the 90 day return period!
-
Yes, thanks again for starting this group. I get the best advice from reading posts from the experienced runners who have joined.

It could be (and could not be) that you are expecting too much out of yourself when running. Running is hard--especially with so many people saying that they are slow. Which is true, when you start out everybody is slow. It takes lots of time to build up speed and endurance and you do that by running lots of very slow…

Welcome! You will do great, and won't need an ambulance ;-p

This. I can't see in the rain. I cannot leave my glasses at home (very bad vision) and cannot wear contacts (sjogren's) and don't qualify for corrective surgery. I also can't stand being cold (even with synthroid and normal thyroid now I am always cold), so rain and cold kills me.

Read this: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1217573-so-you-want-to-start-running And increase slowly to avoid injury (been there).

Great work--loved the recap :drinker:

They get stuck in my teeth, so I avoid them unless I can brush/floss immediately. They don't affect my appetite.

At his age he should not need to eat at night, so he must be using you to fall back asleep. Suggest speaking with your pediatrician about sleep training. Once he can self sooth himself back to sleep you will be much better rested.

I have been running for about a year and have had no problems as you describe. I have heard that it is rather common. I guess I am lucky. The worst I had was letting a toenail grow a bit too long and it cut into an adjacent toe, an easy remedy. It may be worthwhile getting another fitting, it can't hurt :drinker:

Elizabeth, I don't have any great advice--just sorry you were waylaid when you were planning such an awesome PR time. I just hope you are feeling better so running this race doesn't wipe you out. <i.e. get the asthma under control > However, you were running so many miles and training so hard, I bet you will do better than…

Panache sports bras. Expensive but worth it.

2nd 10K today: 57:53.07 Improved from February 2014 10K time of 1:08:42! Happy with time, but sadly, did not run negative splits. 9:20/9:20/9:19/8:56/9:11/9:30/9:26. I think that I believed I was closer to the finish than I was on mile 4 :-(
-
Very pleased with my 10K time today: By the chip timer (and I am not sure if it started with the gun or with crossing the start line--I couldn't tell) my time was 57:53:07, which is 10 minutes faster than I ran in February :-) However my 10 year old slowed by a couple of minutes, because he hasn't run as frequently or as…

Goal: Meet my monthly mileage challenge (85 miles) by running at least 4 times per week. Tracking: My miles will be on this web site: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AkmK3myW0PepdGVJNW91R05zN2F0WTF1R1NqbjFTZVE#gid=1 Reward: Better conditioning and better performances at my races. Maybe I will eat a piece of…

If I don't shoot her before she starts college--just joking :embarassed: . I hate teenager attitude.

If you mean the socks: I just got mine at Target or Ross. One pair actually has "left" and "right" stamped on it  For shoes (likely more important): find a local running store and get fitted. Everybody is different, so you can't ask a fellow runner what shoes are best, you can only find the best shoes for you. Don't…
-
Some are poorly made, but they do come in somewhat different sizes, not as specific as shoes as socks generally stretch. Some of my socks had the seam at just exactly the right spot to cause grief. I have found some great running socks.
-
Sounds like your shoes and/or socks are not fitting properly. I have no pain when I run, unless I use an old pair of running shoes.

Your doctor has less training in nutrition than your dietitian. Also, you have 76 lbs to lose, so 1200 would be VERY low and near impossible to sustain without help. Even 1400 calories is really low for that much weight to lose. Not sure if I would listen to either.
-
Yep, I have seen it.
-
I certainly wish I had become more active when I was younger and the kids were small. Daughter just turned 13 and refuses to run. Son is 10 and has been running with me or his friends for almost a year.
-
Great job!

Glad he is ok and had some nourishment. That could have ended very badly.
