Does your puppy chase joggers still? Or do you keep him on a leash and under control now?

I started at about 15-16 min per mile (because I had to walk most of it). My long runs are about 10:30 now, and my 5K races are just a tad under 9 min miles. Don't have a clue how you STARTED at under 11 min per mile.

You are surprised at the idiot posts on an internet forum?

You sound like you have gynecomastia, which is common in teenage males (but can last past the teens). If it bothers you that much, go to your doc to refer to to plastic surgeon (for correction). Your insurance may cover the procedure should you desire one.

I use runtastic and can compare the routes from when I first started about 1.5 years ago to now, well since I upgraded to runtastic pro it only counts since then (August 2013). Last August I was running a 13:17 min per mile pace--but I was only running 1.3 miles then. Today I ran 4.78 miles at a 10:34 pace. I can compare…

Heavy weightlifting will do it.

Don't worry about it. Real runners will be supportive and any that give negative comments are not worth paying attention to. I suggest that you go to a 5K or 1/2 marathon race--you will see people of all shapes and sizes running. Not surprisingly, most of the runners at the head of the pack are slender (helps them to be…

I believe the running shoe stores encourage as many people to run marathons in order to sell shoes. More marathon runners = more miles on their shoes = more frequent shoe replacement.

I think it depends on your goal--for some of you, the goal is racing-beating others, beating your PR, getting on the podium. For some of us, it is to run while having fun, not getting injured, having a lifelong exercise we can enjoy, to burn lots of calories so we can eat! Some people prefer the longer distances, some…

WTH? You are ignorant.

Gads, I just noticed that it finally got pinned! MFP- it took you long enough!!!

I have been running for a year and a half-started running at 14-15 min per mile, I now run under 9 min per mile for a 5k. I haven't timed a single mile run as fast as I can for a year but I imagine it is about 8:40 or so (it was 8:55 September of 2013). My half marathon pace was about 11:10 per mile in June of this year.…

You are awesome! Coast Guard Rescue Swimmer, holy cow! Among the bravest people anywhere ( I also count FireFighters in this group) Congrats! And Thank You.

No..professional liar I would imagine. Don't know too many MD's who exclusively post to the Chit-Chat forum.

use the one at home unless you plan on going to the doc's for all your weights.

If you don't weigh your food you don't know how many calories you are eating. Use a food scale.

I recommend getting checked out by a doctor if you don't get more energy. Anemia, hypothyroidism, etc. can all cause extreme fatigue. Hopefully you will bounce back without need to see a physician, but keep it in mind.

I am speechless.

You are going too fast. Even if you think you aren't if you are out of breath and cannot speak in full sentences, you are! Read this: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1217573-so-you-want-to-start-running?

Just wondering since I don't want to read all the responses-have you tried sex ? The kind with orgasms? That can actually help with cramping. Would probably make you more tired though.... Iron supplements for fatigue, all month not just to play catch up when you are actively losing blood.

Great job on the 20 miles!

I would go with this.

I ran a half marathon and burned that much.

I was quite offended at this.

IT band making itself known and it is not happy. Will be short this month. Next month--will have to see--IT Band issues, two long haul trips. Might need to back way down on mileage.

  Hope to experience this some day...

Awesome work! :drinker: :drinker: :drinker:

Calories per mile depends on your weight--- best estimate: Weight in lbs * 0.62 * number of miles run. an estimate of 100 calories per miles only works for you if you weigh 161 lbs. If you weigh more you will burn more. In general, if you run faster it just means that you burn the calories faster.

Great topic posted for new runners: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1217573-so-you-want-to-start-running? Knee pain can be many things, mostly too far too fast (even when we are slow and not going too far--it is too far for how trained our body is in its current state), other things: 1. shoes (get fitted, you…

I have been on over 15 Disney Cruises, on every Disney Ship. They are all different, I like the newer ships better than the older ones. Would I cruise again? I am doing the Alaska cruise in 1.5 weeks, so yea, I guess so. Best parts of my cruise: Everything after the lifeboat drill to night before debarkation. Worst parts…
