Congratulations! Now take time to recover. Wonderful job.

Awesome pace!! I think you will do quite well in your triathalons -- wouldn't be surprised to see you come in first  And soon.

Yes. But I am not competitive and don't care if everybody else is faster than I am . Lots of people are. I am faster than others. Its a crap shoot who decides to run a particular race. I do it for fun.

I have a similar problem. Had a 5 mile trail race that went long as I was searching for my son who went on the 1/2 marathon course. Knees felt great. Run 7-8 miles on the road/sidewalk and they can hurt. I just know that if I go too far, too fast, without strength training and stretching my right knee hurts. If I stretch,…

How about one of those 130 decibel alarms? It might scare them away without endangering you and could be loud enough to get the neighbors awake at the same time.

I run for distance not speed (cause, well, I'm slow), and my best 5K went from 36 minutes about 8 months ago to 27:41. I don't even try to run fast on my regular runs. My typical daily runs are around 10-11 minute miles but I am now up to 25 miles per week. Considering that I am older, never ran before last year regularly,…

Looks like the study was just a poster with no more details than what was in the abstract: Presentation Abstract Session: F-31-Running Friday, May 30, 2014, 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM Presentation: 2977 - Footstrike Patterns do not Influence Running Related Overuse Injuries in U.S. Army Soldiers Location: WB1, Poster Board: 263…

Cadence is supposed to be 180 per minute, if you find you are winded try shortening your stride. It may seem ridiculous to take little shuffling steps but you will go slower. Or you can take walking breaks until your cardiovascular system catches up. Keeping cadence fast like this forces the shorter stride and…

You are young and your breasts are likely breast tissue instead of fat. Don't worry, when you get to my age, they are all fat and when you lose weight they will shrink, likely more than you want them to. Solutions: Great supportive bra (search the forums, lots of rec's) or surgery.

Spi belt is great but it is rather small. It might be enough for your needs. You would have to hold any water should you wish to bring any on your walk/run.

First 10 mile race in October. Increasing long miles slowly to avoid/minimize knee pain. Up to a long run if 8.5 miles! Now to get there without two days of pain afterwards????

You are in no way too thin. You picked a great goal weight. They are just used to a heavier you, regardless of their education.

It's age. It is 20 years too old.

I overheard someone in my Lamaze class saying my husband looked like my brother-we are both redheads. Our kids have red hair. He was born in another continent and is NOT my brother!

Do what you like--if you don't like it you will be more likely to quit. My knees like trail running better than road/sidewalk running, and they like road running better than treadmill running. The most important thing is to find something that you enjoy.

I don't think I have seen this: Lately what has limited me on my long runs is the beginnings of knee pain. I developed patellofemoral syndrome shortly after starting to run and am afraid that I will push to far too fast (well, not really too fast). That is what sidelined me in the first place. Last night I ran 8.5 miles,…

Gentle stretching, massage, and don't give up. The exercise soreness is temporary due to increase in activity and will resolve. Give it a week or so, it may not be 100% better but you should be much improved. Keep moving too.

Panache. Others will have other opinions. Do a search, this issue has come up regularly. Lots of great answers.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vuBw39uCT4Q I have been wasting the last 2 hours watching these videos--the best quote from from this one--the ultrarunner cut off his balls because they were slowing him down running uphill!!!

Great goals (and I didn't know you had that much to lose, you run so fast speed demon!). My goals: run at least 4 times per week 115 miles for the month long run of 8 miles minimum once a week strength training minimum once a week (new goal--need it for knee pain!!)
