Hello from Houston, Texas USA! @MissionEnforcer Houston is the most populous city in Texas and the fourth-most populous city in the United States (so hellooo traffic!), located in Southeast Texas near the Gulf of Mexico (not at a pretty color of water). It's hot most of the year (like, 90°F in mid-October hot). But with…

Hi everyone! I'm Casty. I'm a single mom of 3 boys. We do lots of scouting adventures like hiking and camping, but I also work full time and go to school, teach den meetings, volunteer and advocate for children and families with Type 1 Diabetes, and participate in pto.. so sometimes have a hard time making myself work out.…

Add me at will

Not necessarily. I would ask how much protein these women were actually consuming, and what their daily activity was, before assuming that more protein in a normal diet is inherently bad.
-
My son is a type 1 diabetic. He covers all of his carbohydrates with synthetic insulin. Protein has no carbs and doesn't normally require insulin, however if it is a meal with high protein or only protein (bacon, eggs, sausage) then yes, he'll need insulin to help keep his blood sugar from spiking for the reason @Noel_57…

You could always work in some pre-made healthy meals also. Some stores have ready to eat servings of sushi, deli wraps, salads, etc. They sell packaged fish with only 2 servings already seasoned so all you have to do is throw them in a bit of oil. You can make vegetables that way also. Chicken breasts come in packages of…

I don't do intermittent fasting, but I do find steady cardio to be fine first thing in the morning before I've eaten. I wouldn't recommend any HIIT or heavy strength training on your down days, though. Try a few different things and see how you feel before you make your workout plan.

Pick up heavy-ish things. Put them back down. lol j/k mostly. I started with Stronglifts 5x5. You can do the exercises with dumbbells for now, but with any lifting program, you are going to want something more suitable. (A gym membership, or at-home barbell rack, perhaps?)
-
Important to consider that you may have been slighty dehydrated when you took your starting weight, which will take off a bit of pounds until you replenish. You are doing some great programs and will continue to trim down if you stick with them. I think your ideas are right on target. If you are maintaining your weight,…

I use Labrada Lean Body. 150 calories, 5g carbs, 25g protein per scoop.

Stronglifts 5x5 is great for beginners. You can watch the videos before you go to the gym so you know what each one is and there are only 3 exercises per day, so easy to remember. You can start off doing the exercises with dumbbells, instead of the barbell if the latter feels intimidating... and don't feel pressured to add…

If you've been using Fitbit for a while, you can look back at past days to get an average of how many calories you burn. I typically burn 1750, less on lazy days, more on really active cardio days. So to lose 1 pound per week, I would eat 1250, 0.5 pounds per week it would be 1500. (Take the calories away from your total…
-
Eat at maintenance to maintain your weight. Eg. Don't eat more calories than you burn.
-
According to http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/ you are projected to lose 0.6 pounds per week at that calorie amount. As @cwolfman13 said, though, these are estimates and should be adjusted as needed. Try it for a few weeks and see what your average is. Adjust up or down if needed.
-
Eating how many calories? Do you exercise? Do you know how many calories you burn, on average?
-
Yes it will keep at least 3 days. I prep on Sundays and if I can get enough portions for the week, I will do that, but try to at least get me through Thursday. If you want to prep for longer, you can always freeze the extra portions.
-
Right now, just whey and fiber. Need to add a multivitamin with Iron though. And maybe fish oil.
-
I've been on MFP for 3 years and can't believe people still talk about "starvation mode". No. If you are eating at a deficit, barring any medical problems, you will lose weight. If you are not losing weight, the most likely culprit is you are underestimating calories eaten. I can tell you right now that 4 slices of Pizza…

August 8th = 3.59 miles/ 9,016 steps August 9th = 4.05 miles/ 10,173 steps August 10th = 3.21 miles/ 7,938 steps Goal for August = 120 miles/ 300,000 steps (4 miles/ 10,000 steps per day) Total for Week 1: 24.12 miles/ 59,259 steps Total for August = 34.97 miles/ 86,386 steps

I use the Charge HR (I've used the Flex and One in the past also). I've always synced it to MFP and let it do the calorie adjustment. My food is added here (database is much larger).

I use mine. I go by what it says. Seems to be fairly accurate. If you think yours is off, try eating less and see if that helps. Check your profile and make sure the info is correct, and that you aren't wearing it too tightly. You might try logging your BJJ and adjusting the cals burned down, since it might not recognize…

Bootcamp, for me, was far more of a mental challenge than a physical one. Running a mile and a half in 15 minutes? Not exactly impossible, right? I definitely got in shape there... went in hardly able to do 10 pushups and ended up competing for our group against guys and girls alike, doing over 70... There were people who…

Despite the common notion that diabetes is always about what you eat and how much you move... that isn't necessarily the case. Babies get diabetes too. I doubt it's because of their super cute chubby thighs. Work with your doctor, ask for a blood test to determine which type of diabetes, and monitor your blood…
-
Sounds really yummy, but it does make one feel a bit guilty to go overboard. So, log it. Do you know what your maintenance calories for the week are? Figure out if it put you over that. If not, no big deal. You'll still lose weight, or at least, won't gain. Go for a run in the evening and drink lots of water. Start fresh…

Welcome. Glad you are almost back to 100! People experienced in a class almost always make the new people look silly since they know what they are doing. Keep at it, and you will be that experienced person soon. Good luck to you.

You can add me. Right now I'm averaging 9,000/ day... I have a desk job but try to get 10,000 per day. https://www.fitbit.com/user/25TJQV
