I LOVE those kinds of NSVs!

I'll be working until about 11:30 tonight from my computer at home. OY!

I've actually NEVER been a fan of this type of tactic - especially for Breast Cancer awareness. EVERYONE IS AWARE OF BREAST CANCER. If you're not, you live under a rock. I AM glad for all of the actual educational and fund raising efforts, but it makes me a little sad that other, common and lethal forms of cancer/illnesses…

I think it all depends. One of the ellipticals in my apartment complex doesn't get a lot of use and 'feels" accurate when measuring my heart rate and calories burned. Usually, it's about 50 calories under what's on MFP, and it says that I burn a little over 10 calories/minute (on average) when I'm really busting my hump. I…

I went through a divorce that really pulled the rug out from under me and it was HARD to make healthy choices! Here are some thoughts: REMEMBER what you learned - the whole relationship wasn't bad. I've learned from every person I've dated and I've kept those lessons with me. Seperate the good from the bad. The good is she…

I LOVE Hulu! Who needs DVR? In fact, who needs cable?! I can see it next day on Hulu!

Have you tried INCREASING your caloric intake? I read an article by Jillian Micheals that encouraged people stuck in their weight loss to increase your caloric intake by 10%. Sometimes your body needs to more fuel since the metabolism is trying to speed up. Less fuel won't allow it to speed up.

I feel your "one vehicle" pain. I drive my guy to and from work too so I pretty much do all the commuting for us. Anyway - maybe I'm from a different generation, but I played ALL SORTS of sports as a kid, soccer, softball, volleyball, roller hockey, football, etc, and I was ALWAYS left alone during practices from the time…

Take some extra potassium! Calf pain is a dead ringer for potassium shortage!

A Calorie defiency is already worked into the MFP equation. Net calories are the calories you have eaten vs the calories you have burned BEYOND the deficit already worked into the equation. Hope that helps!

I've only done Juice fasting for 1 month. I didn't see any real benefits from it, so I got off.

Oh yeah! Make SURE you're getting your water, iron, and vitamin B in too! That will help you battle exhaustion!

I'm a Soul Cyster. (ha ha ha).

I'm a big fan of working in work outs where ever you can! How about grabbing the running shoes and walking/running laps around the kids field? Or how about enrolling in a CLASS and making that as much of a priority as whatever the kids are doing? Remember, by taking care of your health, you'll be a better role model for…

Stress is BAD for reproductive cycle. I would just live your life, enjoy it, and RELAX. I actually hate that couples say they are "trying" to get pregnant. Technically any time people are not protecting, they are "trying - maybe not on purpose, but they are "trying". I'm in the medical field and people get pregnant all the…

I work out when I'm coming down with an illness. It can boost your immune system and kick that cold out faster than you think! Just listen to your body and remember you need to supplement working out with some extra sleep too! Working out helps your body relieve stress too, which is great for your immune system. When I lay…

I second that! I have a Camelbak water bottle I refill all day. I count it as 3 glasses as well, and it's 24 oz. There is something just... FUN about drinking out of those bottles! Reminds me of when I was a kid and used to bite my straws. :)

Don't feel bad about the band not working out for you! About 80% of people who get gastric surgery, put it all back on, and nearly 50% of lap band patients have similar complications to the ones you describe. Hang in there! I've been "dieting" on and off since high school, so I know what you mean! I lost about 50lbs on…

Your BMR is the amount of calories you'd burn if you stayed in bed all day. You mentioned the gym, so I'd say you're pretty active! Are you staying away from all caffine as well? Remember, natural products have caffine which can make you feel artificially full. Tea is a GREAT example of this! Why not double up on your…

I've lived in apartment/condo complexes and here's what I'd suggest: Is there a store within a mile of you? Walking to do your errands will save you money AND you'll burn extra calories carrying back! I used to walk to do my groceries. Yes, I had to go shopping twice/week to make sure I got my perishables and my non…

I've done Dr. Natura's Colon Cleanse and it helped a little, but I didn't lose any significant weight from it. You have to time it right if you're going to do it. I found that the cramping from the cleanse and my period cramps were too much. After the 2 weeks (it's super gentle and doesn't change your eating habits), I was…

I wear one of the following to work out - and I have lived with rubbing "thunder thighs" my whole life: 1) Yoga pants 2) Champion work out capri pants 3) Champion stretch capri bike pants These are the ONLY times I wear capris. They usually make people w/ bigger thighs look super chunky or wide all the way down.

Are you sure the non-digital scale is balanced at zero when you get on it? Sounds like it may get wonky. It also varies depending on the surface you're weighing in on. If you're standing on carpet, you won't see much of a change at all.

Orowheat makes a delicious Double Fiber bread, and I also order bread from the Julian Bakery. It's delicious and there is a 125 bread that has 14 grams of fiber AND as much protein as an egg! Have you tried putting Honey in your tea or on your toast? It can really help your digestion - and boost your immunity as well!

Congrats on learning from your experience! I'm so glad to see you here! I've known far too many people who don't KEEP THE WEIGHT OFF - which requires education. So it's SO encouraging to see so many lap banders here to learn to KEEP it off! :)

I'm REALLY grateful that my MD seems to take a more holistic approach. I'm adopted (and was adopted in the 1980's, so the files are largely closed), so I have very little access to my family history. While I have since developed some contact with my biological family, it's fairly limited, so I'm kinda flying blind. Nice to…

Hey there! Funny- I just wrote about that in my blog! check it out! www.jsjourneybook.com

I LOVE that kind of almond milk! You'll find it's GREAT in baking as well, and cereal!

I'm always tempted to overeat when I'm stressed out. When my Sailor goes on duty, I find myself CRAVING carbs and chocolate. But I know it's because I'm going through adjustment stress (which never really goes away) and a bit of saddness thrown in. I actually became a binge eater during an unhealthy relationship, so I had…

Go for Whey! I use MRM Whey protein and unsweetened vanilla almond milk. I don't do a lot of dairy simply because I sing A LOT and it helps your body create mucus. I have PLENTY and don't relish ear infections or blowing my nose. ;) Also, I stay away from soy in large concentrated doses as a woman due to the artificial…
